Humble Monthly Gamble Discussion Thread

Death Loop, Monster Train, and Disciples: Liberation are three of the headliners this month. I've played the heck out of Monster Train and heartily recommend it, and the other two were on my wish list. This one's a complete no-brainer. I don't even care what the other 5 are at this point.

I'm on the fence with this months choice as Death Loop and Monster Train are on Game Pass. Death Loop has just arrived so plenty of time to play and finish that one. I'm tempted to get it for the Steam version of Monster Train as I really enjoy that one. Disciples: Liberation does look intriguing, I'll have to look up the others and decide

Didn't expect to ever play Death Loop, despite my love for Arkane, as it seemed kinda bad, but as part of a bundle, eh, makes it more tempting.
Monster Train is pretty good, but not sure I want to revisit it.
Disciples seems quite interesting.
Looks like a selection of fairly mediocre games overall though, except for Monster Train, based on steam reviews, but also games I am more curious about than the average month. Even the two horror games seem worth checking out.

I had no interest in Deathloop until it became clear that it IS actually quasi-canonically set in a potential future of the Dishonored world, post Death of the Outsider, and now I have to play it out of general principle.

I'm surprised at how enjoyable Deathloop is given how meh I found Prey and Dishonored. Less finicky sneaking, more stabby boom boom.

funnily enough that's the exact same reason I was never interested in playing it

This thread is hard to find. Maybe because it doesn't have Bundle in the title.

Anyways this might be another skipper for me:

Hell Let Loose
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning FATE Edition
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun – Aiko’s Choice
Roboquest
Eldest Souls
UnMetal
Raji: An Ancient Epic
Morbid: The Seven Acolytes

Yeah, first one I skipped in a while.

Shadow Tactics is great. But wont pay just for an addon to that.

Really on the fence on this one. I already have HLL but I never finished KoAR and it might be good on the Steam Deck. Haven't heard of any of the other games, but they all have pretty decent reviews on Steam.

Hell Let Loose
Heard great things. I like the idea of a more realistic shooter in this setting, but I've had my fill of military videogames. I also try to limit the amount of multiplayer stuff I do with randoms. Especially FPS games.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning FATE Edition
Great game! Came out at an awkward time where open world was THE big thing and it sadly got overlooked. It feels very "of its time" and I'm sure people will feel some friction with it due to this. Still a neat experience and a great bundle pickup.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun – Aiko’s Choice
Shadow Tactics was great, the first one at least. Need to get back to it. The wild west themed followup was also incredible (and I...also didn't finish it, oops).

Roboquest
I believe this is on Gamepass. I need to try it out. Heard good things.

Eldest Souls
No idea about this one. It looks pretty, but reviews seem mixed on Steam.

UnMetal
The only game I'm interested in, sadly. A fun Metal Gear Solid satire with some clever writing. I've heard amazing things from people that love MGS. I think it's been discounted a bit cheaper than the bundle price before, so I'm going to hold off.

Raji: An Ancient Epic
Looks nice, but wouldn't hit my playlist any time soon

Morbid: The Seven Acolytes
Isometric souls-y horror? Definitely sounds like my cup of tea, but I'd not heard of it before this. Another game I'd like to check out but don't think it'd be played any time soon...Too many other games to play, what a wonderful problem to have!

Overall looks like a solid bundle, but a pause from me this month. Spoiled by a large backlog and generous Gamepass servings lately. Being very interested in 1 game isn't enough for me to pull the trigger.

Roboquest is pretty good! Very fast paced roguelite shooter. It's been getting updates during early access and the gameplay is solid for short sessions.

For those looking at HLL... it's pretty brutal. It's pretty realistic, there's no tutorial, and many of the matches you play at first will feel like a death simulator. You'll get killed and have absolutely no idea where you got shot from. You'll have artillery falling on your head while hearing Stuka bombers diving on you. And this is even before getting into night maps. I give it a PTSD/10.

And yet, I love playing it because it's so difficult. Once you get to a point where you can start getting kills, it's one hell of a rush. The unlock system is sh*t though, and needlessly grindy. But I can only imagine that the next few weeks are going to be like Christmas morning to those of us veterans, as we get to farm newbies coming in from this bundle.

I've been meaning to finally get around to finishing KoA as well. Lovely game that definitely should have gotten more love when it originally came out. I keep getting into break cycles with it though where I put it down for a month or so and then can't get back into it because I forgot what I was doing.

It's good to see at least a couple good titles finally being pushed into Choice, even if I already have what I'd want out of it.

Warhammer Chaos Gate Demon hunters made it worth it for me this month. Good deal if you've been waiting to grab it.

That’s a great game.

It really is. The Duty Eternal DLC is also extremely worth it.

I just got charged without ever getting emailed about the games. Nothing in SPAM or Deleted items folder. It might be time to cancel as this is another super underwhelming month. $12 isn't the issue, it's just starting to feel a little manipulative. The usual method of emailing at the beginning of the month but not reminding you, before charging, at the end of the month was annoying at the least. I just created a support ticket and will see how they respond.

Good luck ED, I set up an alarm so that I remember to opt out around the 14th each month just in case, but I usually opt out early on when I receive the new game list email, most of the times I can make my mind about keeping the selection right away. If this is the first time you ask for a refund you should'nt have a problem getting it.

I opt out as soon as I get the first email too. They sent me an offer to get this month’s games for $8 yesterday. They’ve done that before. I don’t know if they always do it if you opt out but if you really do want a bundle and are willing to wait until closer to the end of the month, it’s worth a try to maybe get a deal.

That said, I don’t really care about this months games but, I’ll probably still get the bundle for $8. It’s basically the cost of a 1/2 dozen donuts so, why not. Maybe 1 of the games will hit with me.

Yeah, at the start of each month they'll ask you to rejoin at the standard $12. Then two weeks later they'll send you another email (or two) asking you to rejoin at a lower price - typically $8.

They've been doing that almost every month since I stopped my standard subscription over a year ago. I think I bought in once since then at $8. They still keep sending lower priced offers.

The main benefit you lose by doing it this way is the discount that builds up for the store when you're a month-to-month subscriber. But I found I hardly purchased anything from Humble Store.

They refunded without a hassle so not a big deal. Good idea about the alarm/alert!

Another pretty terrible month for me. I paused although I do have Rebel Inc Escalation on my wishlist. Maybe I’ll grab it if they offer the bundle to me for $8 again.

I also refunded last month because my wife and I didn't coordinate and she also bought the bundle. They're pretty good about that- I don't think I've heard anyone here complain about a refund being refused. But I'm out this month too- the only thing of any interest to me is Rebel Inc and it's not that interesting given my backlog.

Great bundle for me this month. I had a couple of the games on my wishlist, particularly WARHAMMER AGE OF SIGMAR: REALMS OF RUIN. It just came out in November so I was surprised to see it so quickly in the monthly.

Age of Sigmar tanked in terms of sales - I’m not surprised at all. It’s a bit like Firaxis’ Midnight Sons - there’s nothing wrong with it as a game, it’s just nobody bought it.

Strategy-tastic this month.

  • Victoria 3
  • Callisto Protocol
  • Humankind
  • Fashion Police Squad
  • Terraformers
  • Symphony of War
  • Coromon
  • Excavation of Hob's Barrow (Featuring Sam Beart - a.k.a. Karlach as the voice actor for the protag)

I noticed they didn't put the steam review score on these titles like they usually do. I then looked a few of them up on Steam and found out why. Looks like this month is a skipper for me.

I just grabbed the Ori Collection for $30. Just finished Hollow Knight so this will be the next platformer.

Enjoyed Symphony of War a fair bit last year. The story/characters are atrociously bad, but fun game otherwise.

Not sure about the rest. It is a shame they never managed to turn Humankind around. Also true for the game.
Hobs Barrow, Coromon, Terraformers seems potentially fine.

I was very excited when I saw this month's spread! (Particularly the ones I emboldened above.) I almost bought Terraformers based on Elysium's Steam review...glad I waited! Symphony of War was also high on my list to purchase soon.
