Humble Monthly Gamble Discussion Thread

Damn, next month is going to be the one that finally breaks my will and gets me to sign up. I have DS2 (sans-DLC) on PS3, but haven't beaten it, and have been looking to pick up the super ultra mega DS2 version on PC to give it another shot.

Yeah, DS2 best parts are the DLC. They really round out a slow beginning of a game.

I literally just bought DS2 yesterday.

I'll probably hold off for another month.

Petition for a refund?

Decently pleased with this batch. I've had Plague, Inc. for forever, I love that game. It's especially good on mobile as it lends itself well as an on-the-go type of game.

Not sure if I'll go for DS2. I tend to get frustrated with really hard games, and I know that series is pretty much the benchmark for hard games.

I wasn't a fan of the enemy placement changes/additions for that version of DS 2 especially early. Seemed like they wanted to make it more difficult but went about it in the sh*tiest way possible. Turned me off enough that I didn't make it all that far into it.

Very pleased with this bundle. Haven't fired up Stellaris yet (time commitment, too intimidating!), but Superhot and Brigador were at the TOP of my wishlist. 3 gems for $12, what a steal!

Dark Souls II is an interesting headliner. It's been steeply discounted in the past, so it easily feels like one of the cheaper games to lead the pack. Here's hoping the rest of the bundle is as exciting as this months

Sidenote: Some of my favourite PVP was in Darksouls II. I specialized in hexes. I'd transform into an item in the environment, wait for the enemy to overlook me, pop out, and blast them in the back with whatever overpowered, self-harming spell I had handy. It was consistently hilarious.

I wanna Sun Bro with you. That sounds fun.

I could have done without a Stardock game but otherwise solid lineup

Yeah, that was an unpleasant surprise, but I'm telling myself that I got a really discounted copy of Stellaris and the rest is extra.

Still debating keeping my Superhot key or giving it away.

It's such a good puzzle game! Keep it. You can get through the game really quickly and feel very satisfied, too.

It looks neat, but it's one of those games that's nearly been preemptively ruined by its memey fans. I'm not sure if I want to play Superhot because I'm still sick of hearing about Superhot.

Bleh... I feel like there was a little of that on this site but it was pretty limited. Not only is it worth playing for the mechanics and puzzle level design, it's worth playing for the feel of the mechanics. You really shouldn't discount it for all the unfortunate SUPER HOT SUPER HOT things you ran into.

I must have missed the memes, I was under the impression that Superhot passed mostly everyone by pretty quickly. Either way, I want to second tuffalo's recommendation, it's a very neat and unique game and - if you don't want to get into any challenge mode shenanigans - can be beaten in around an hour or two.

Speaking of Superhot: I got this bundle mainly just for Stellaris and already have both Superhot and Plague Inc, if anybody is interested they can have those!

Well, this month was

Stellaris
Plague Inc: Evolved
SuperHot
Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation
Brigador: Up-Armored Edition
Shoppe Keep
Maize

Makes me wish I didn't already buy SuperHot, but interesting mix of stuff. A little too strategy focused for me though, but can't wait to try Brigador & Maize

Next Month... Dark Souls 2 complete... well, glad I didn't get that on the last steam sale : )

Dang, I almost pulled the trigger on this to get Stellaris and I've been after SuperHot for a while on the cheap.

Can't see myself going for next month though, I didn't enjoy DS2 when I played it originally on Xbox 360.

nvm

This dropping today or tomorrow?

Edit, 21 hours left I see.

Fridays man. Always Fridays. First Friday of the month.

Keen to see what they do with this one. It will have to be pretty special to not be a bit deflating after a massive Steam sale.

It was a weird position to be in. I tried to limit my spending, thinking that "X may end up in Humble Monthly". Of course it's a huge gamble.

Do you think it will be any different from the rest given the timing? They've always been good value though, so I'm keen as a bean for tomorrow!

I'm super excited about it. Don't care for Dark Souls, so I'm hoping other stuff in there will be awesome.

I've got a spare Armello key for whoever wants it. Usual rules apply.

Id love armello if no one else wants it I've been dying to try, but didn't sign up for this months bundle.

Just noticed what was in that bundle, I've been waiting for hyper light drifter as well and the first month I cancel my sub they pack both those in lol.

Always the way.

oh, nice. couple of things in there are on my "interest, but not enough to put down the cash" list (devil's daughter and Armello specifically) and the Humble original (200-esq murder mystery game) sounds really cool.

Full list...

Gal Civ 3 (meh...at least I'm not directly giving Stardock any money).
Hyperlight Drifter
Dark Souls 2 SoFS (early unlock)
Armello
Simple Planes (never heard of it but looks interesting)
Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter
Kero Blaster
200 to 1: A space felony (original)

And next month's early unlocks are NBA'17 and Pillars of Eternity.

Dark Souls II was kind of a downer since anyone who has ever wanted to play it already owns it. It looks like Hyper Light Drifter is one of the included games. I had a bit of interest in playing that though.

Well, I was a minute slow with posting the list, but I'll say; I was so close to buying Hyper Light Drifter during the sale, so glad I did not.

So let's see....

Galactic Civilizations III - Already own it, but a nice get for someone who doesn't.
Hyper Light Drifter - Been on my wishlist for ages, very excited.
Dark Souls II - I'll play it once or twice before dying quickly and shelving it.
Armello - Been wanting this for a while as well, so yay!
SimplePlanes - Been DYING to play this one, so this is, for me, the best get of the bundle.
Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter - Meh, I might try it, but it's unlikely.
Kero Blaster - Looks fun, can't wait to try it.
2000:1 - A Space Felony - Really looking forward to this.
Underwhere Comics - Could not give a crap.

Overall, for me personally, a really great bundle!

Great budnle but doubled up a on HL Drifter. Looks like I get to do late gifting! Already gave away DS2.

Not so! I'd been eyeing it at $12 for a while, but kept passing because I was part way through DS1 and 3. I put in for this month because $12 for DS2 plus some other stuff was a good deal for me.

I'm happy with Hyper Light Drifter and the Sherlock Holmes game. Simple Planes looks potentially interesting. I may noodle with Armello, but probably won't play much of. Same with GalCiv3. The rest I have no idea about.

Tell me why I should care about 2000:1?

Guess I should drop Monthly Humble, seems like I always own the games I am interested in. Might try out Armello.
Wonder if it is remotely possible to find someone who want to play DS2, who doesn't have it.

Dark Souls 2?

I'm that person. I played DS1 on 360 a bit. Got maybe 10 hours into it before I bounced off/got distracted, and that was the second attempt. I almost bit on last month's Gamble purely on account of DS2, but decided that I have other irons in the fire (notably Rise of the Tomb Raider and DOOM, which are scratching my AAA-itch), and I wasn't sure that I wouldn't simply bounce off it again.
