Humble Monthly Gamble Discussion Thread

yeah. good month for me too, aside from the witness and the main layers of fear campaign, it's all new stuff that I was interested in getting ...but not to the point where I'd have spent money on them. Now I don't have to!

This month is definitely an awesome bundle. Some are a little weaker but overall for $12 it's worth the gamble.

Man, I've been looking at Black Mesa and Kingdom for a while. Ah well, gotta stick to my "only get the gamble if the revealed headliners are worth it" plan. I have far too many games already. There's gonna be a few missed bundles that sting. But I'm likely in for the next one, for Inside.

This bundle was my biggest let down yet. Besides Kingdom, I don't give one whit about the rest of the games. Ah well, that's why it's a gamble. Onto next month!

I never really considered this stuff a gamble. If the initial game announced isn't worth $12 to me then I skip the month. All the extra games are just a bonus that odds are I'll never have time to play anyways.

I forgot to cancel the subscription, which I found out when I got charged about a week back. I hadn't planned on getting the monthly bundle this month because The Witness didn't seem very interesting, but I've played it a little and it's growing on me. I was eyeing Black Mesa and Event[0] a while back, so those are small wins. Layers of Fear seems like something my wife might like, though she doesn't really play games. The other games seem fairly meh, but I haven't really looked much into them yet. I'm torn on next month... I know my son would love DiRT Rally, and Inside looks interesting.

Edit: I um... I think I finished Event[0]... ? I'm not sure. What a f*cking trippy game. It's not really difficult, I only got held up on a couple puzzles, but damn. Weird game.

This is exactly the way I look at the bundles. February's offering was the last "aw yeah!" buy for me. I'd rather spend my gaming funds on titles i know I'm likely to play.

I went ahead and bought early for Inside, figured I'd give it a go. And it's another really trippy game. My kids were watching me play it, and especially at the end my oldest was a bit freaked out. What is it with these Indie developers and acid-trip-esk games?

So if I sign up now do I still get Black Mesa or is that already gone?

Already gone. If you sign up now, you are paying for the May gamble.

I'm about 30 minutes into Inside. So far it's like Limbo meets Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs. Creepy goodness.

I’m about an hour in. Enjoying it a lot more than I did Limbo, and I’ve no idea why – they’re basically the same game.

But the flavor/theme is different. Instead of a metaphysical, horror theme, you have a sci-fi thriller theme. The later is far more appealing to me as well. Just look at all the different match 3 games out there in the world that are nearly the same, yet everyone seems to have one they enjoy more over the other largely simply because of the theme/skin used.

Wow, looks like next month's early unlock is Stellaris! Going to be a popular bundle.

The remainder of last month's bundle unlocked, and it's a doozey

This is the Police
Undertale
Metrico+
The Turning Test
Gonner - Press Jump to die edition
Super Rude Bear Ressurection

I already own Undertale, but the other 3 of the first 4 are all hot items on my wishlist. Never heard of the last two, but a quick look at the Steam pages shows Gonner looks intersting, and Rude Bear less so.

And I'm staying in for Stellaris.

And Jonman beats me out by a minute apparently

Well, I get to play Undertale finally.

Well, was worth it for Undertale, Inside, and The Turning Test for me, I'll have to see what Metrico & GoNNER are tonight. Still a nice selection though

I'm always staying with the bundle, but I don't Stellaris is really my game, but I'll try anything once.

*HAH...I should type faster I guess

Not a whole lot there for me - couple of indie things that I would probably never have gotten around to.

The mix looks interesting, I'll have to take a better look when I get home. Already prepaid for Stellaris, that's been on my wishlist for a while now.

I finished The Turing Test last night, normal/easy puzzles, little pieces of dialog to keep you going between stages. Two of the physic puzzles are a bit wonky but need a light touch to do and a bit of running though a door. I hoped a little more to the ending, but in the end, it seems appropriate.

The whole thing is fairly short but doesn't overstay its welcome. If you don't get stuck, you can probably get though the game in 4-5 hours.

Play it, just play it. I'm not sure if will grab anyone as much as I did, but the whole thing made the gamble completely worth it this month.

I dipped into it briefly last night. I appreciate the barely-concealed-reskin-of-Portal feel of it. Looking forward to digging into it further.

Gonner is a fun little rougelike platformer. It's a quick-hit, I haven't had a run last much more than 5 minutes yet, but there's a space for that kind of micro-game in my gaming life.

Man, I poo-poo'd the idea of the Monthly Gamble for ages. But I've been in for the last 2 months, and I'm playing precious little else than Gamble goodies. Dirt 4 and Stellaris being the big hitters, but indie gems like Inside (holy sh*t the art direction in this game), Stephen's Sausage Roll and The Turing Test are filling the gaps wonderfully.

My cup doth runneth over.

Well, this month was

Stellaris
Plague Inc: Evolved
SuperHot
Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation
Brigador: Up-Armored Edition
Shoppe Keep
Maize

Makes me wish I didn't already buy SuperHot, but interesting mix of stuff. A little too strategy focused for me though, but can't wait to try Brigador & Maize

Next Month... Dark Souls 2 complete... well, glad I didn't get that on the last steam sale : )

Might have to hop on the next one to give someone DS2.

I may grab next month's, since $12 for Dark Souls 2 seems to be about the going rate, and I've had it on the wish list for a bit.

Lot of things this month that I didn't have, so a pretty good haul for me!

Best month for me so far since subscribing last October, solid list this time.

This month was worth it for Stellaris alone - none of the rest are super great (I already have Superhot). I want to want to play Ashes of the Singularity, but I've yet to meet an RTS that I didn't bounce off hard. Maize is either going to be great or interminable, I think, depending on whether or not the comedy hits for me.

Think I'm staying in for next month - I haven't Darkened my Souls since the original, and it's about time I dipped back in.

I could have done without a Stardock game but otherwise solid lineup

I accidentally forgot to pause for the DiRT Rally bundle, but two of the other games (Undertale and This Is the Police) were on my wishlist anyway, so no harm done.

I paused for this month because I had Stellaris already.

I'm going to stay in for Dark Souls 2 because it's been on my wishlist forever, and lately the added games seem to have been pretty good.

I had a bunch of stuff here already, but yay gifts. Looking forward to trying Superhot.
