Stuck in my brain: Random Acts of Thought

I remember reading a poem or part of a poem/short story where the poet said it was better for a soldier put a bullet in his head than be in or be stationed at the KyberPass. Anybody have any ideas?

My guess would be Kipling, maybe The Ballad of the King's Mercy? Or one of the ones in Barrack Room Ballads?

Hey that's it! Been looking for that for 10+ years. Thanks!
