Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE

Are you sure it stays the same? Maybe it's only staying the same because you're not progressing? When I first unlocked 2-star I was getting 1 or 2 max. Towards the end of that second dungeon I was walking away with 5 or 6 if I had some good session combos.

I wouldn't be surprised if those become more rare and getting resources becomes more uncommon. Granted, this is just guesswork on my part. I still gotta fight the CH2 boss, and man, the mid-boss forced me to reload my save and try again. I can only imagine how the boss themselves will be.

Once more wish I could swap Itsuki out for someone else. He's useless against the Myrmidons and I know the other three would be able to session together.

It does...but every carnage and (almost) every radiant unity requires X-star medals, and the number required goes waaaay up starting with chapter 3, whereas the number you get from each battle stays the same.

Itsuki also gets a radiant unity that says it boosts the drop amount for session rewards. I'm not sure exactly what the requirements are, but it's a 3 star one.

I'm getting a ton of 3-star medals from doing x3 times sessions on the critters on the second floor of the dungeon in chapter 3, if that helps

Spoiler:

where you are lighting lamps for the "actors" in the play

DAMN! The mid-boss for Dungeon 3 (the TV studio, just past the bridge) is kicking my backside something terrible. Might need to go do some more grinding / sidequests!

Ha. Yeah, I beat that one last night by the skin of my teeth. I had just gained Recarm on Tsubasa and I still had to use 3 spicy curries. Having made a few of the radiant unities that allows a party member to survive a physical attack with 1HP helped, too. And Sukukaja.

It'd probably not be too terribly difficult if you could swap out Itsuke, but having someone weak to lance when you have three (!) attackers who can all hit him with lance and score a double-session out of it....yeah.

You guys think this game will be out of print if I don't buy it now? lol

That's what I been sayin'!

I actually just beat it after unlocking a couple of characters "session whilst not in the main rank" skills which helped a LOT. And then I did a lot more switching in and out of characters to deal with all the different smaller mobs vulnerabilities (starting with those damned healers). Thankfully it doesn't consume a turn to switch characters!

It's on the eShop so it'll never go out of print until they kill the servers

I bought the game for this exact reason lol. Like shoptroll said you can just buy it on the eshop later or just wait a while someone may be looking to sell it on the trading post for a decent price.

Ooh, I just unlocked a couple of those after that battle when I went back to heal. I'm excited to try them!

That will probably solve your "how I farm 4 starz?" problem too

Finally have my Axe wielder NPC....not what I was expecting

Also I love how this game continually spontaneously throws in a short music video every other hour or so

I just did that boss. I was probably over levelled because I'm doing all the side stuff. Still, though, I'm finding attack mirrors are a must when there are 4+ hardcore enemies on the board. Yen is really easy to come by in this game, so you might as well stock up on 10,000 yen attack mirrors. I'm probably going to keep 5 or so in my inventory at all times for boss fights.

It's kinda of cheating, but kind of not because it's a very valid option in this game. Persona games kind of up the cost on those so it's not a very tasty option. In this game it gives you a chance to get in a bunch of buffs/debuffs before the enemies destroy your whole party in 3 hits.

It might be a little more essential playing on hard.

Cool. Just unlocked my first advanced class. Need me some more of those orb things I think.

Also is it me or did the difficulty of the combat-focused sidequests after chapter 3 take a BIG leap in difficulty? I seem to be hitting quests that are a good 10 levels higher than I am currently, which is weird. Maybe I've not been doing enough grinding.

I'm not that far yet, but wowee was that final boss in chapter 3 a pain in the ass.

Spoiler:

The boss blocks you from taking out its minions the whole time.

Had a busy weekend so only started Chapter 3, and in between getting some unities while in the first floor of the dungeon I found side quests. Right now the third dungeon is surprisingly easy and the arena might be a great way for me to try and grind a bit.

But, one side quest that has been irritating me a while now is... where the Hell do you get Maca Leaves?

You'll get those easily once you delve into dungeon 3. Don't sweat it.

Just finished Chapter 3.

Spoiler:

The way I got the boss down was just rushing the hell out of the adds, then hitting the boss with everything I had. Used the party-wide attacks constantly to make sure pressure was continuously on them. Itsuski's 2 move/turn special is amazing, use it.

I didn't actually have all that much trouble beating the boss because I was overlevelled and was prepared with tons of items. I was just surprised at how close things were for me.

Spoiler:

Yeah, Itsuki's 2 move/turn special is a game-changer. It actually allows you to get in the buffs/debuffs you need when there are four or more enemies on the board.

The next dungeon is super weird but I like it.

pyxistyx wrote:

Yep. Played an hour or two of it.

I just got owned by a "Learning Panel" in that dungeon. Hadn't saved in a bit, too.

Finished the dungeon. Not bad, overall.

Spoiler:

Before getting to the final boss, I finished Mamori's 2nd sidequest. That unlocked the normal stuff(ad lib, title, costume), and also unlocked a conversation with Maiko. That unlocked a dual art that's triggered during a session. The last 20% of the boss' health was a 10 chain session :D

Meanwhile I only just finished the requirements of Dungeon 3 Floor 2 because every time I'm ready to get another Radiant Skill or Unity I'm also ready to do more side quests. The dungeon itself hasn't given me much trouble, which has me nervous that I'm gonna be over-confident for anything that comes up. Then again, I actually defeated the second dungeon boss on my first try when I was prepared to really get slaughtered, so who knows?

I should probably try them attack mirrors, though.

Anyone know if it's possible to session from item-use? That might help me when Itsuki is kinda useless offensively.

ccesarano wrote:

I totally neglected to try that. Would be curious to know myself.

The lone time I used such an item was early in the game. I tossed an axe and it didn't trigger a session, and it wasn't until later that I realized no one has session abilities for an axe.

I do like how familiarity with some of the Fire Emblem vulnerabilities plays out here. Fighting a flying foe? No problem when you got arrows and wind magic.

ccesarano wrote:

Ha! Yeah, first time I ran into a flying enemy, I went "Muahahaha" in my head.

Yes, that's why those axes and javelins can be so useful. As noted above, it's only useful if you have session combos that work. Less of an issue now that sub cast can session.

Of course, enemies also seem to have like 8 million HP now that I unlocked that
