Dead by Daylight catch all

In my opinion, yes back off. One, because face-camping is boring for you and everyone else playing the game, and two, it's not an effective strategy.
Playing killer effectively is about keeping simultaneous pressure on as many survivors as possible so they can't do generators.
If you stand in front of a survivor on a hook, you're only putting pressure on that one survivor, maybe 2 if you have someone actively coming in for the save. Smart survivors will let you cool your heels waiting at the hook and pop three generators on you in the meantime.
Meanwhile, if you can down a second survivor while the first is on the hook you have one on the hook, one on the ground, one going for the hook save, and one coming to pick up the grounded one. You know where all four of them are, and none of them are progressing their objectives.
(This is one example of a good strategy, there are many other ways to play.)

One of my most frequent early mistakes as killer was to let a survivor lead me on a long chase in a part of the map where there were no incomplete generators. Ideally, you want to force them to cluster up, make them heal or save each other, so when you have more than one on a generator you get multiple interruptions for the price of one chase.
Time is on the killer's side, the optimal survivor strategy tends to be to spread out an do objectives as quickly as possible, the killer needs to slow them down and cluster them up by forcing them into risky situations.

Good advice. I’m really enjoying the game.
If I understand the game correctly, the really good perks require you to level up beyond 15. Correct? My leveling up approach has been to level each survivor and killer I use up to 15 so they have all their perk spots open. Slow process.

Thank you,
Chad

At levels 30, 35, and 40, you can unlock the teachable perks for each character. -The three perks they start with by default, once you unlock them they will start appearing in the bloodwebs of all the other characters. Otherwise each character only has access to their own teachables and the pool of general perks that are available on all characters from the start. It usually makes sense to decide what teachables you want to prioritize getting in your pool and get the character that has them to the appropriate level.

So if you want sprint burst and adrenaline to be available to all your survivors level Meg, if you want to run corrupt intervention on Trapper to slow down the early game so you have time to set up, level Plague.

Once you unlock their teachables, survivors are basically just skins, so I wouldn't recommend prioritizing anyone whose perks you don't like.

you can pull up menu of the teachables for each character in the selection menu, (I think it's right on the d-pad)

Ah...thank you.

Played this for the first time tonight! TheWalt suggested it, not sure where he initially heard about it. It's on Gamepass, so we grabbed 3 more friends and had a hell of a time.

I love that a completely offbeat game like this exists. Gamepass is so perfect for it, enabling people to try for "free" - plus it has tons of DLC and a battle pass. Honestly, maybe they should just make it f2p, the monetization is already there.

I laughed my ass off, which wouldn't have happened playing with strangers, so I'm a bit unsure of whether I will play it too much in ranked. I'm sure I'll give it a shot or two.

Yep, survivor is best played with friends. It can quickly become very un-fun playing solo queue at higher (red) ranks. I play mostly killer these days unless I have people to play with. If anyone wants to group up for SWF on PC or console (now that cross-play is working), I am always open, just send me a friend request (my DBD/Steam name is Thunderfunk #3984)

Since that post, my friends and I have played more nights than not. I'll friend you up, but your rank is going to be super high compared to ours.

We're on all platforms - crossplay is great - and we use Xbox for voice chat. PC players use the app and the PS4 player uses the app on his phone.

Thanks! I got your invite. Rank really doesn't mean much in DBD other than to show how much you play. I'm happy to play with anyone. It also looks like they are implementing cross platform progression. That will be amazing for people who play on different systems -- the grind can be pretty absurd.

I've started bopping around this game with the lady this week and a few friends picking it up on PSN sale thats going on. GWJ people still bopping on this?

Update is rough. Killers reach is pretty mismatched with animations right now, feeling like theres been a +6 ft range added. So if youre playing or planning to play anytime soon, beware. Killers might get bad habits, and suriviors will have it rough.

Good to know, I was thinking about jumping back in.

Hot fix yesterday, its a bit better now. OR so it seems anecdotally.

I still play quite a bit, but taking a break until the de-sync is fixed (supposedly in 4.5.2.) as the game is unplayable as survivor. This is far and away the worst update BHVR has ever released. I've gotten bored with killer lately, there is no real challenge. Not that I am a god tier killer, just that the game has been watered down with so many players that seem to have no idea what they are doing. I think I have you on my friends list Atomic - my Steam name is Thunderfunk. I'm always up for some SWF as that is really the only fun way to play DBD, though I'd wait until de-sync is fixed. It is too frustrating to play right now.

My friends and I played for about 2 months and had a fantastic time. It was great playing with you at the time!

I had a fun time playing with you guys too! If you ever decide you want to play some more, let me know.

The new patch seemed to fix the de-sync issues and they improved the new UI a bit. It is still bad, but at least it is usable. Back to playing the new tome this week if anyone want to SWF.

It seemed like for weeks I was given 50000 bloodweb points every time I logged in. Leveled my Ash from 5 to 50 thanks to that generosity.

I'm playing a lot right now, so feel free to ping me! The 50000 was a chinese new years thang.

Back into DbD again. Happy to see recent posts here. I PM'd some of you, but I'm ersatzerdahs on Xbox if anyone wants to SWF, let me know.

I also sent you a friend request (look for one from Thunderfunk). I am on PC, so hit me up if you see me online.

Update is live!

So there's an incoming Resident Evil chapter that frankly looks pretty neat. I'd love to get some 5 person custom matches going so we can play in a cool community. Anyone coming back or interested in dipping their tow in for the first time? Hit me up on steam, or discord! Maybe we can schedule a night on the GWJ discord server! console or PC all welcome!

My friends and I haven't played in months, but I imagine we'll dip our toes back in around October - that's when we checked out DBD for the first time last year.

Are there any preferred ways to consume the lore of DBD? Seems like the only way I would know about would be to just go read tiny slices from the game on some wiki - and maybe that IS the best way, but I figured someone here would know.

I'm a sucker for Lovecraftian horror, and DBD seems to be like a couple of other things I love where they've layered a Lovecraftian cosmology on top of more traditional horror tropes.

They release lore along side their battle pass system. So bits and chunks get let out as you move along that. So in game is pretty much the best way to get the newest lore. Wiki for the exiting stuff.

Good game last night Thunder. We were cracking up with all those M1s while you were carrying us to our doom. It was a riot. Maybe we should stream one of those customs and post the VoD here. Hmm. hmm.

Checking in, anyone actively playing?

I just started this game, mostly because it was on Game Pass and I needed a break from other (toxic) multiplayer games.

Fired it up as a killer, because I was done with team-based stuff and...Wow I really didn't expect to fall in love with this game?! It's so different to anything else I've played before. I'm not particularly into horror films, but it's ignited a real curiosity in me. Tonight I watched Scream and LOVE LOVE LOVED it.

Really pleasant surprise this week. I have a lot to learn, a lot to watch, and a lot more DBD to play! Yay!

I picked up the Pyramid Head DLC because he is one of the few killers I'm familiar with, because I loved the first 2 Silent Hills. He's a lot of fun

I play it. Its a been a few weeks of inactivity, but will likely return with Pinhead added soon.

I’ve had this game forever and just played with randoms so I am up to jump into this!

Sure, Ill pop on 930 EST. If we can get five, we can do a custom match and avoid the pubs.
