Battlefield 1 Catch-All: It is LIVE!

Rush has been underwhelming since BFBC2. Especially at 24 player limits like on console. 32 man lost a little bit on PC for me.

I especially didn't like BF4 when people would try to run 64 man rush servers.

BFBC2 had it right, and DICE has been chasing the magic ever since.

omg a mannish after my own heart. Yeah bad company 2 did have excellent rush maps.

Operations does harken a bit to MAG, without quite the same amount of chaos and variety. But damn the matches are long. I usually just don't have the time to hunker down for it.

Also, the performance of this game on my XB1 has been awful. Super laggy interface, occasional game crashes, and I'm still getting all kinds of network issues. I may delete and reinstall to a different drive.

Now I want to play MAG and I'm sad the servers are servers are shut down and it's all a digital dream.

RIP MAG.

I used to love MAG. Once you figured out how everything worked, there was such a good flow to that game. SVER for life.

Picked this up yesterday, if anybody is playing on the Xbox one, be fun to have someone to play with, although I am in the UK.

Try hard resetting the xbox. The game seems to get wonky while in the sleep state but so did BF4 from time to time so I'm not surprised. It won't fix the slow menus but it fixes the network issues and CTDs for me.

Any idea if the Huot machine gun for support got sight attachments added last patch?

Edit: You can equip AA sights on it.

onewild, I'm UK and XO. Sent you a friend request. Might even be on tonight.

Glad to see that I'm not the only person who gets a little misty-eyed over MAG. It launched with no proper in-game tutorial, horribly unbalanced weapons and ludicrously designed maps (the Sisyphean task that was SVER's Domination map, and Raven's 'you can be bombed INSIDE your spawn' Domination Map will never fade from my memory), but I loved it.

Cat on lap, mini-keg of Heineken within arm's reach, nd MAG on the PS3 made for great Friday nights for me for quite a while.

I just checked Wikipedia and it appears that MAG staggered on until January 2014. I'm astonished by that.

I went back and played a bit shortly before it went offline. It was mostly as I remembered but boy did the controls feel incredibly herky-jerky in comparison to what I'm used to.

I used to play with a group from the QT3 forums and we could usually make a full 8 man squad on our game nights. Much less fun without a group, however.

So Pikey and I were both right

I am not in the UK (US-East), but I will be able to join during the holiday break. I got this with my Xbox One S, and I've been having a blast in multiplayer. I'll send friend requests your way when I get a chance.

Hey all... just got into this game (played my first MP besides the beta last night). I am not good, but would love to squad up with GWJs and perhaps make use of comms. I am usually on in the evenings (EST). I play on XB1.

I also have some general questions:
1. Do you only progress on medals that you have active?
2. Is there a strategy for how to spend war bonds? (I have seen references to the fact that there are a finite number of these and, naturally, want to min/max)
3. Is there a good source of strategies, tips, FAQ, etc out on the interwebz that anyone here recommends? (This should have been my first question...)

1) Yes. You can change your active medal by pressing ESC during the game.
2) No, given enough levels you should eventually get enough warbonds to buy everything. My suggestion is to buy stuff for whatever class you like playing most first. Eventually you will have more warbonds than you know what to do with.
3) Reddit has some pretty good stuff. In general, stay with your squad, capture objectives and play your class role and you'll do just fine.

Sweet. I've sent you a FR. I've had a hiatus on BF after getting Overwatch and Titanfall 2, oh, and all the Christmas stuff, but if I'm on playing whatever send me an invite I'll always squad up in BF. If I ignore the request it'll be one of my kids probably playing Overwatch.

Any tips on performance?

Picked up an Rx 480x 8gb and was expecting better 1080p performance than what I'm getting.
SP is pretty good, 60fps on High, but MP is terrible, struggling to keep 30fps even on medium.

My cpu is a bit long in the tooth i5-2500k at 4.5ghz but it runs everything else so well.

Just the standard stuff... turn off vsync and turn off high end settings.

My older rig was i5-2500k at 3.3 and 970 with 4gb and it still ran the game very smooth at high.

I now have a 1070 8gb and a i7-6700k at 4.0 and it's very smooth at very high. Every once in awhile i'll get an FPS dip in multiplayer, but for the most part it's rock solid.

Nevermind I fixed it!

https://www.reddit.com/r/Battlefield...

Followed a bunch of stuff in here, not sure what it did.. but I'm running 60fps Ultra 1080p in DX12 in MP.

It's like a different game!

Yeah 480 is exceptional in DX12 across the board it looks like.

Sent out friend requests to Abu5217 and mr_n00b, I know you're in the States so probley won't match up time wise but just in case. I also now have comms and it would be ace to hear someone speak in this game, instead of battlefields of the silent.

Thanks for that bit of nostalgia! I loved Mag as well. I burned out on it after I made the mistake of switching my character over to Raven. Having to start from scratch, combined with losing the friends I've made sort of ruined it for me. If I could have just switched back to my old faction, everything would have been fine. But if I recall correctly, you had to max out that character before you could switch back. It was like a prestige system on steroids.

If anyone hasn't tried it yet, the "Armored Kill" mode in Custom games is absolutely phenomenal.

No snipers allowed. Fast vehicle spawns.

If you are a medic you only get a sidearm, no main weapon.

It got me back into BF1 in a big, big way. Highly recommended.

Despise fast vehicle spawn servers. Definitely not for me. I do like the standard rifles only servers.

But that wouldn't rule out automaticos that are imo just as ridiculous as the FAMAS was in bf4

Yea it does... It's just bolt rifles for all classes. At least on the servers i played on.

OOOH. God. Bolt Action Only? That sounds immensely dull. That rules out most of the medic guns too doesn't it? How do you play without Assault classes? What modes are they?

Each class has a different version of a bolt rifle. I find it quite fun, but i'm already used to that type of play style. Hit someone and if not a headshot finish off with the pistol. It's only been conquest when i've been on so not sure if there's others.
