Google Play Music - Now With Podcasts!

Oh, happy day! My primary music-listening platform of choice has finally added podcast support - but alas, one cannot simply provide a path to an existing RSS feed; the podcast must be registered with Google Play before it is available. Hoping the crew can get the conference call added posthaste, so that I might continue to enjoy my weekly podcast fix - now without switching to another app!

The proper location to do so appears to be: https://play.google.com/music/podcas...

Thanks in advance for spreading the GWJ love to even more consumption channels!

WHY CAN'T I ADD A SIMPLE RSS FEED GOOGLE OH GOD WHY.

Yeah, it's rejecting the RSS feed we use that works fine for iTunes and everything else.

Oh wait, I was just talking about subscribing to a podcast, you guys can't even SUBMIT one? f*ck.

If I remembered how I did it I'd help you, but it was so convoluted I've blocked it out I think, or forgotten, so I'm just useless.

Maybe it liked that I was using Feedburner.

It rejected mine until I changed the hosting situation on my cover image...because...reasons I guess.

About 6 months to a year ago, I would have been over the moon about this news. But honestly it is way past overdue. I have found everything I need in Pocket Casts.

I do like the fact that I can listen on the web now.

Ohh, I've been a DoggCatcher user for years, but this might've sold me on Pocket Casts.

Oh look, it imports OPML feeds and such. How about that, Google? :/

Once they get the bugs ironed out, it'll be nice to have a podcast directory that can punch at the same weight as iTunes. And I like being able to reduce the number of installed apps that all do the same stuff.

I'm sorry, I think I accidentally implied that Pocket Casts has web playing now. I meant that comment to reference Google Play Podcasts.

Edit: Just checked out Pocket Casts' site, there is indeed a web player. Educate and Learn!

AND it syncs with the mobile player! That way I can be listening to a podcast in my car, come into work, plug headphones into my mac and keep on listening. So far it works great.

I've paid for PocketCasts three times now (Android, iOS, Web) and still use it, but would love to switch to Google Play for podcasts, mainly so that I can listen to podcasts on an Android Wear watch *without* requiring a phone (e.g. when I'm running) via Android Wear's offline support.

So here's hoping the issues get sorted out and GWJ can be listened to via Google Play soon-ish.

@BinaryTB this is more or less my reasoning as well. I use Android Auto, and would like to be able to seamlessly switch between music and podcasts without needing to change the active audio app. It's not critical to me being able to listen to the show at all, but Play Music is a popular enough service that it seems like it would be worth getting ironed out all the same...

I understand it's possible that Google may have some slightly different requirements re: permissions and feed structure, but surely it can't be so difficult to work through that nearly a month later it still hasn't been resolved? I feel pretty confident that if somebody with access to the hosting were able/willing to look at it for a few minutes and react with more than a shrug because it works fine everywhere else as it is, that this could be fixed up in short order. (I'd volunteer my own time if I had said access!)

Just checking in to see if anybody has had a chance to look into what the issue could be?
