The first Titanfall did not do as well as Respawn/EA wanted and it was a bit of a flop on PC, so I'm not surprised they went in a bit of a different direction.
I too am a big fan of Titanfall one. I liked how Titans regularly appeared and were tied to a countdown. I'm troubled of earning a Titans is to kills. The first game rewarded kills with reducing build time and I liked that balance.
Titanfall was the only MP game I ever prestiged in or whatever the young folks call it.
Plan on trying the demo tonight.
I loved the first Titanfall. Loved it. Had both the PC and Xbox one copies and played both for many hours. I really like the beta back then.
Only played 1 round, so not fair shake at it. But its missing something. And I only got to use my Titan once. Died in like a minute and never got to use it again.
Just played. So disappointing. Same experience for me as reported in last lost. 10 plus minutes to get my Titan and had it for less than 2 minutes. Perhaps no timer countdown for Titans because of the bounty playlist rules? Also, the sound design for the Titan was underwhelming-- soft footsteps, weapon sounds didn't have same kicks
Expectations for No Mans Titans is definitely lowered. Shucks.

Boo. Titanfall was one of my favorite MP games in years. I guess I saved $60. This was my favorite MP game in a while precisely because you could jump in a Titan regularly even if you weren't L33T.
I played a fair bit of the original, and I like the fact that Titans are harder to come by. Might be a little long, but I liked it.
Runs well on PS4 too, I was thinking PC but I might be switched.

I still think it's just that mode.
The other new mode you can do your normal kill bunch of AI and get the titan right away.

Amen to that! Will you be subjecting yourself to the Xbox version? Or are we finally going to be able to play something together?
Some of us are not worthy of the Master Race.
LALALALALALALA I can't hear you!
I'm still going to wait until reviews of the final game come out. It's possible the initial demo could vary a lot from the final game. Levels can be expanded upon, NPCs can be added, a lot could be in flux. This could be an way for them to judge the direction of the game as it's going, a way to course correct.
Well i still have issues with the game. Like today it's been totally unplayable with serious lag and disconnects.
I wouldn't put much faith in these kinds of stress tests being an accurate portrayal of how the game will be. I assume they do what they can to create the worst conditions, and aren't giving you the whole game.
I'm in for the single player anyway.

Well except for this company and the way they handled themselves last game. It's very worrisome for the PC side of things because they got worse and not better after the beta.
Huh, I'm surprised to come in and find generally negative impressions. I played about an hour and a half and loved every minute. Didn't play the first game, so maybe that's the indicator.
While they could adjust a number of things like Titan drop rate or TTK, ones of the things that really set me off was the changes in art direction. I found it really hard to figure out what was what, and the entire visual presentation was a mess and there just wasn't enough contrast to be able to quickly figure out where enemies were. Also, the one outdoors map was terrible; in a game where the focus was fast vertical movement, why am I running around in a giant field?
I'll keep trying the game as they tweak it, but it's going to be hard to escape the sense of doom.

You mean besides that massively glowing red outline the enemies have that could be seen across the board?
There was open fields in the last game as well. Granted they weren't in the middle like this one, but they were there.

Whoa whoa whoa there buddy. You're at about an 8, I need you at about a 2. I was just saying it's hard to play FPS games with a controller.
Haha, I will be on the xbone:). I love playing shooter with a controller.
Had an embarrassment of gaming riches over the weekend but found time to dip into the pre-alpha stress test.
As someone who never played T1, the feel of the T2 test was everything I expected it to be. Enhanced first-person mobility, tight aim-down-sights COD style shooting and weapons, frenetic multiplayer. They adopted Destiny's radar of segmented quadrants that highlight red as you get close to enemies which was interesting.
I wanted to play their new mode... forgot the name of it already ... which is more co-op and involves taking down a target Titan as a group instead of piloting your own but apparently that lobby was dead so just went straight into vanilla TDM. Or rather... I think this is the one where it operates like Kill Confirmed? I only played one match and ended up with a ludicrously low score. Not so strange an occurrence on its own but I thought I had killed a bunch of fools.
I also stopped after a match because I think I'm growing out of competitive shooters with a vengeance. I said "cool" and was willing to move on. I love they are adding single-player and will probably keep my eyes locked on impressions/reviews about that portion of the game upon its release.
Levelcap has a very reasonable assessment of the tech Alpha and the various complaints.
I'll give it another try next weekend.
So how does the smart pistol or equivalent work? Do you anticipate people hurling around "sp f_____t” in chat again this time? Because if yes, I'm going to get very loud at Respawn about it.

so far it's not to be seen but TTK is so low that you'll have a lot of salty people in chat regardless.
Let's all take a deep breath and a step back.
That's why, as a fan of the original, I didn't play much of Titanfall 2. I knew there would be an amazing amount of changes.

This article could easily be renamed "Game Development Progresses As Normal". So many mountainmancers casting dark magics on molehills about this whole affair. Tech tests are the new trailers in terms of things people get weirdly worked up about. At least the criticism here has been fairly measured.
Put the automatic timer countdown back for the Titans and I'm there dude.
These are the patch notes from Respawn Entertainment:
Time to Kill
Amped Weapons Boost now unlocks at 80% of the earn meter instead of 50%.
Charge Rifles now have damage falloff at cross map distances.
Slightly increased cloak visibility for other Pilots.
We think the abundance of Amped Weapons is a large contributor to lower time to kill. We're still adjusting individual weapon balance for ship.
They need to stop the Amp meter running while it's active. I would have 3 charges up on it after dying when going on a long spree.
The new tweeks make a ton of difference. I was instantly having a lot more fun, even when losing. The game now feels like Titanfall.
I also like the new map. It's easily understandable .
I didn't play the first game (only the beta), but I've enjoyed the three matches of this I've managed to get in so far today.
They added more recoil but like i mentioned they didnt fix having the ability to have 100% uptime on boosted weapons.
So TTK is still much lower than before. Basically it becomes a game of who sees who first because the only time you survive an encounter is if someone completely misses (it happens from time to time) or happens to need to reload in the middle of a confrontation.
edit:
changed higher to be lower
