Star Wars Misc. Catch-All

I'm going to guess you didn't watch Rebels and/or didn't play Jedi: Fallen Order.

It's OK though, they give the gist of who they are in the first two episodes.

Like all these shows they give you the info in the show and if you want to learn more there is other content there for that.

Also enjoyed the 1st two eps. Cool world building as well.

Essentially, they are Jedi hunters called Inquisitors. I’ve only played Fallen Order but it explains there that they are tortured padwans and force sensitive children trained and led by Darth Vader to hunt down all the remaining Jedi. They’ll probably go into more detail in the show.

It is fine for a person to admit that a piece of media does not seem interesting to them. I wish more people would just admit that and not watch then hate watch and complain forever about it.

The problem is, you have to watch it to find out you hate it, then complaining forever is warranted.

Yeah, that whole first scene was basically there so people who didn't watch Rebels understand their purpose.

Mixed feelings, great to see McGregor reprising the role, but I couldn't have been more annoyed on some of the plot "beats" that this 2 episodes took. Not that keen on the production values either, felt that the baddies looked ridiculous most of the time with their plasticky / rubbery armor. But the biggest offender was of course

Spoiler:

the annoying kid who won't listen because of course she won't, her glacial running speed and jedis, bountyhunters and everyone in general around her being unable to catch her in like, 3-4 steps

Dear Disney people please don't make me hate Leia

Spoiler:

The chase in the forest was admittedly pretty bad, but I think Leia being precocious and stubborn as a child are very fitting for who she grows into.

Spoiler:

Leia reminds me of my daughter. Stubborn and a weird little ninja that can’t run fast but scampers about better than adults.

Enjoying it quite a bit even if I have no idea where they are taking it. I just really like McGregor’s Alec Guinness impression.

It was okay. Very watchable but nothing special. I just hate hate haaaaaate prequels. There's no peril, and no stakes when you know what happens to the characters.

Season 3 of Mandalorian confirmed for spring 2023.
Edit: February

Obi-Wan: zero imagination, and the plot hinges on people carrying the idiot ball. I'm just not the audience for it I guess.

Sabine is in Ahsoka show.

So…. Obi-Wan Kenobi starts with a fairly visceral scene of an attack on a school… for anyone who might be startled by such things right now. I know it’s just Star Wars, but I found it tough to watch. Just a heads up.

Stranger Things 4 at least put a content warning up.

Disney should have done the same, to be honest.

They finally did.

In regards to the forest chase -

Spoiler:

Leia is constantly exploring and hiding in that forest so she knows it quite well. She probably is always getting chased by her handlers. You have some bounty hunters who are used to an urban environment from the looks of the planet they are stationed on. Put it all together and I think it was a scene earned via those details. Oh, also let's not forget she gets a little of that force luck as well.

I've always enjoyed the adventure and the HOWS of the adventure. I don't really need to think there is a chance someone might die to enjoy media.

What a disappointment. Muppet Baby Leia absolutely torpedoes this show. Every moment this cringecreature is on screen it's just flat out unwatchable. Made it like 70% through Ep2 then just couldn't anymore.

I enjoyed it and so did the kids. So far I like it better than Boba but not as much as Mando. Looking forward to seeing where it goes. I read an article how there's no need to fill in every bit of Star Sars timeline like Disney seems interested in doing and i tend to agree with that. If they had just said Obi Wan goes off into the desert to keep an eye on Luke until Ep4 I would have been fine with that. I think I prefer the new character stuff better (Mando).

But very much looking forward to Cassian Andor series. Could be best thing ever.

Was feeling kind of burnt out on all these shows lately - I didn't watch Boba and won't bother with the next Mandalorian. But couldn't resist watching this just to see Ewan and Hayden.

Not sure how I feel about it so far. Like, some of it almost seemed more suited to Power Rangers.

Caught up on Obi-Wan last night and really quite enjoyed it. It’s miles better than Book of Fett for example.

As for Leia, for those of us with or have had small, precocious daughters, a wry smile and a chuckle are the way forward - I can see how annoying it might be to other people though. I’ve never really like the inquisitors in either concept or execution so the less time with them the better. Mind you, with everything that Star Wars has become, Tatooine is the first place I would have looked….

The swing in taking the focus away from Luke though is quite smart. Yes, we know there’s no real peril for any of them but Leia’s childhood has never really been addressed and it all plays out against the backdrop of what eventually happens to Alderaan. It all leads up to what the rest of the show is clearly going to be about - Anakin and Obi-Wan.

I’m expecting a cameo from Liam Neeson before the end of the show too.

This i my hope too. The birth of the Rebellion isn’t something Star Wars has ever adressed a might be the chance to do something a little different. This is what I hoped for The Mandalorian though, and look where that ended up.

Rebels addressed the beginning of the rebellion quite a bit.

But maybe it's in Rebels but I don't want to slog through the cartoons to get there, but what we haven't seen in live action is how the rebels change from "we've got some money and maybe should start an armed resistance" at the end of Solo to "we have experienced spies and assassins and ships and pilots" at the beginning of Rogue One. An Andor series could be that just like Star Trek Enterprise is "we're in space now and very bad at exploration."

Looks like Bad Batch is addressimg it as well.

My wife loves

Spoiler:

Gungi

Seeing him in the season 2 trailer made her almost cry lol.

Star Wars is just as much about all the side characters as it is about the main ones.

It’s really not. That’s just a bad Magnificent Seven in space with an annoying Australian girl in it.

As for Rebels, it only really addresses it from the point of view of one very specific band of people, almost all of whom are goodie two shoes types with some very specific issues with the Empire (I’m being deliberately vague there) or rather, one specific entity within the Empire.

The Rebellion, which I think the films and Rogue One have always made relatively clear is mostly a bunch of randoms thrown together managed by some Politicians who actually seem to care. They aren’t that well organised and aren’t really going anywhere until the an unlikely Hail Mary is thrown their way in the form of Luke.

From a general mass of people rebelling - or choosing to be in a rebellion who aren’t from a race of super warriors or the dregs of surviving space wizards - that’s something I think Andor could explore quite well. For sure Rebels touches on that in places with the fate of the Twilek planet, but that’s really as far as it goes.

Really liked the first two episode of Old Ben. Going to have to buy a Baby Leia to go with Baby Yoda. The inquisitor was probably a youngling. One was a black girl they focused on for a bit. A few were probably kept alive and trained. That scene was a little hard to watch also. If Vader personally trained her he probably implanted his hate of Kenobi on her.

I don't know exactly what I just watched:

He seems like an odd dude, but not in a bad way?

I watched the one with Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christiansen yesterday. It was a bit cringe.
