NFL 2016: Offseason: Pre-Draft / St. Louis Trolling

Dolphins remove tag from Olivier Vernon, which means Jacksonville is blowing up his agent's phone right now.

Giants sign Janoris Jenkins to a deal averaging $12.5 mil a year.

Ian Williams staying in San Francisco, yay.

Colt McCoy staying in Washington.

Marvin Jones going to Detroit, significantly boosting his fantasy value.

Rolando McClain stays in Dallas.

No one goes to St. Louis.

Report: Mike Ditka out, Matt Hasselbeck in at ESPN's Sunday Morning Circus of Worn Out Schtick.

Ben Watson to Baltimore.

Totes the most important signing.

Suggesting perhaps a bad prognosis for Dennis Pitta?

Maxx Williams and Crockett Gilmore still under contract. Wouldn't seem like a FA to target if Pitta were on track to return too.

PFF is choking from the traffic.

What, going all STATS Inc style and taking away premium stats from normal people not get you guys enough money for servers?

Some interesting rumors swirling that the Broncos will pursue a trade for Colin Kaepernick if they lose Brock Lobster to the Texans.

I think it's fairly clear Pitta's career is over. The nail in that coffin was Maxx Williams. I honestly think he's only still a part of the Ravens for business reasons. He'll probably get released after June 1.

He's been rehabbing his hip since September 2014. The doctors told him not to play last November and while he wants to play, I think he physically might never be right again.

I just looked over any new news items, but it appears there's nothing to report other than there's a chance he might play again but as of last November the doctors said no.

Vikings signing Alex Boone. 2015 was a down year for Boone but he still pass protected fairly well. I stand by my pre-season statements last year that Boone should have moved out to RT in place of Anthony Davis. He was a college tackle and moved to guard only because SF had Staley and Davis, but he's a bit light for guard, especially on a team that runs power like the 49ers did.

Would seem like he's still going to be a guard in Minnesota, but honestly, I'm not so sure he wouldn't play LT better than Matt Kalil has been. He filled in well at LT whenever Joe Staley was out (which is why Tomsula was obsessed with keeping him on the left side, even though Staley misses so little time). Him potentially sliding out to LT to fill in for a demoted Kalil is not outside the realm of possibility.

All Titans had to do to get Murray is swap places in 4th round with Eagles, a whole 13 spots. Slam dunk trade.

Also, Titans need to back the brinks truck up to get Snacks Harrison. I don't give a sh*t what it takes give it to him.

Yeah. Can't see him ever taking the field again. His first hip injury was at least as bad as the one that ended Bo Jackson's career. The second should have been his cue to hang up the cleats.

Doug Martin staying in Tampa Bay 5 year deal worth over 35m.

Your optimism is so cute...

A bit more than I expected at $7m/year, but still happy about this one. Since we're apparently not buying a defense this year, I'm OK with keeping the offense going.

Jax just signed Carolina's Brad Nortman, which presumably will prevent the Jags from burning another third-round pick on a punter.

But maybe not!

Why wouldn't I be? Murray is a major get. I can't help it Chip Kelly is a moron who put Murray in the opposite offense that he had so much success with in Dallas. Titan's are going to run him up in the middle with power formations the same way Dallas used him, not sweep, tosses, and shotgun draws like Chip did.

How much time has Mariota actually spent under center? The transition from shotgun to under center has frequently been an issue for QBs coming out of college as your see the field so differently, so building an offense towards Murray's strengths could completely counteract the things Mariota has been good at.

He's been under center plenty last season and never had a problem with. More sh*t the media built up before last years draft that amounted to absolutely nothing.

It's a bit of a myth that Kelly ran Murray outside all the time - in terms of rushing attempts, Murray's most attempted rushing path in 2015 was straight up the middle.

78 of his 193 rush attempts in 2015 went outside the tackles, 40%. That's definitely an increase from 2014 in Dallas (25%) but not so far off of 2013 in Dallas (35%).

It also bears mentioning that in 2014, those outside the tackles runs were far and away Murray's most effective on a per-carry basis. 6.1 YPC around the left and 4.9 YPC around the right. Philly wasn't exactly crazy thinking Murray could run wide based on his success in Dallas with it.

I think the Chip Kelly blame game (in terms of Murray's performance) is vastly overstated.

Instead, I think it's more the Curse of 370 in effect. Murray was ridden hard in 2014. Then in 2015, he suffered a hamstring injury in September, and though he didn't miss much time, he didn't show the same explosion the rest of the season.

I think dude's body needs a rest, and then he needs to enter the season in a rotational role, not having the expectations of being the bell cow back, and get 200-210 carries on the season. 2014 Murray was the anomaly. 2013 Murray is a more realistic target.

Osweiler to Houston. Four years, $72 million.

$18 million/year. For Brock Osweiler.

I shoulda been a QB.

Mariota's workload last season was pretty shotgun heavy. 281 pass attempts out of the gun, 88 under center.

The Titans did run the ball primarily from under center. Antonio Andrews was the team's leading rusher, and only 19 of his rush attempts came from the gun. McCluster had a higher percentage out of the gun, but even with him it was 20 from shotgun vs. 35 from under center alignment.

The good news for Mariota is that, while he wasn't under center much on pass attempts, he was effective on the ones that he was: 60.23%, 624 yards, 7 TDs to 2 INTs, 98.9 passer rating.

Oh snap. Now to see if Kaepernick really is in play for Denver.

That's seems like a Scott Mitchell kinda deal.. wonder if Houston blew it with that deal.

When you say straight up the middle are you counting shotgun draw plays?

Not like Denver has a lot of options. I do think one potentially good option (and not just as a Bucs fan) would be to trade for Mike Glennon. Big arm, reasonably turnover-averse, has certainly shown signs of competence while playing for an awful team, and seems like someone who could certainly manage the game while a great defense is keeping control on the other side of the ball.

At least Mitchell had that one magical year after. It could be a Rob Johnson kinda deal instead.

True... sheesh.. just shows how desperate the league is now for QB's..

Glennon is probably less likely to be an outright disaster, but he has zero upside. If I'm Kubiak and I love nothing more than stretch runs, bootlegs, and rollouts, I might be looking at Kaepernick as a guy that I can fix that has high upside, especially since my offense doesn't force him into deep throws often, and deep passes are where Kaepernick's percentages nosedive.

I cannot imagine Mike Glennon running those stretch plays and rollouts, though it would be so hilariously awkward to watch that it would be worth the price of admission.

Hush. Glennon combines Osweilet's height with a bizarrely-exaggerated upper-body feature (his neck vs. Peyton's forehead), making him a perfect synthesis of Denver's former QBs.

Also, he's never been benched for Blaine Gabbert.
