Titanfall had a large, stable server population on 360. The Xbox One version was probably a victim of it's install base. With a single player campaign, or even great co-op from the start, Titanfall 2 could have real legs. Loved the first game.

2016 is already off to a bangin' start for me with the release of a second season of Galavant.

My most hotly anticipated game of 2016 is Unraveled on the PS4.

For movies, I haven't really been following what's coming out since I stopped subscribing to cable, but I am looking forward to the Deadpool movie in February. It will probably be terrible, but if it's terrible in the right ways I'll be happy.

Thank you CC crew for getting me through a massive commute delay! I got to listen to most of the show in one go (everything but the last seven minutes) and it sounds like there is lots of great stuff in the horizon for 2016.

I've been super excited for Eitr since it appeared on my radar midway through last year, and glad that it got some love. I'm surprised nobody mentioned Torment: Tides of Numera though! That's definitely at the top of my list.

Eitr does look good.

Btw, I agree No Man's Sky tends to look worryingly devoid of fun but I already have approximately 50 planet names written out and ready to use (some could be adapted to be creature names) so I'd better like the game at least long enough to use the majority of them.

There is indeed so much to look forward to in 2016. I'm very excited about Torment: Tides of Numenera (and hoping it "clicks" unlike Pillars of Eternity which I just couldn't get into). You don't even need to ask about Mass Effect: Andromeda (I'm the girl who owns two N7 shirts, a N7 hoodie, cap, notebook and now canvas art thanks to Bonus <3 ). Dreamfall: Chapters should also wrap up this year, so there's that to look forward to. And Dishonored 2, of course. Gosh, so glad you mentioned that one. It hadn't been on my radar **at all**, and then I saw the trailer, and my mind was blown. I want to play as Emily - so - freakin' - much. Send Corvo to the retirement home, and make some space for the Princess!

00:02:22 - Kentucky Route Zero
00:03:18 - Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
00:06:40 - Dragon Age Inquisition: Trespasser
00:07:56 - Bloodborne: The Old Hunters
00:09:08 - 2016 Movie Releases
00:10:47 - Most Anticipated Games of 2016 - Part 1
00:35:33 - Most Anticipated Games of 2016 - Part 2

Thanks to the podcast crew for reminding me of some games that I'm looking forward to, including Tacoma, Firewatch, and Cuphead.

Also, a minor correction to something Shawn said when Elysium mentioned Torment: Shawn said that it's being done "by inXile, the same guys who did Pillars." Obsidian made Pillars of Eternity. inXile made Wasteland 2.

Also, my mistake on failing to realize that someone mentioned Torment (in my defense, it might be at the tail end of the episode, which I haven't heard yet.)

Haven't listened to the podcast yet, but here's the ones I'm excited for:
Torment
Persona 5
Nier: Automata
Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma

Upon finishing the podcast, let me add Stellaris - I'd forgotten that it may be a 2016 release.

Mayyybe Mass Effect Andromeda, depending on what it is, and mayyybe Uncharted 4, depending on whether I borrow my brother-in-law's copy of the remastered trilogy and get around to it.

Movies I'm excited about:
Rogue One
Civil War
Ghostbusters
Fantastic Beasts
Moana

TV I'm excited about:
Daredevil S2
Luke Cage
Agent Carter S2

Books I'm excited about:
Kingkiller Book 3 if it comes out
New Dresden Files if it comes out
Winds of Winter if it comes out
the next Star Wars books from Claudia Gray and Chuck Wendig (I didn't like Wendig's first book, but it had a whole lot of *stuff* in it, and he won't be writing on an insane schedule on this one)

If memory serves, it was the rightful Game King and it was indeed towards the end.

Stuff I'm looking forward to:

Oxenfree
That Dragon, Cancer
Night in the Woods
Torment
XCOM 2
No Man's Sky
Mirror's Edge Catalyst
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
The Witness

Maybe 2016, maybe 2017:
Pathologic
Stellaris

I feel like I'm forgetting some good ones, so 2016 looks like it's shaping up to be a great year.

Game I'm most looking forward to, hoping beyond hope that it's good, with the most potential of blowing my mind or completely breaking my heart: Obduction. Please, oh, please, Cyan, give this the Riven treatment. I want so badly for them to stick the landing on this one.

My 2016 'waiting to play' list...*

Witness (January 26th)
XCOM2 (February 5th)
Firewatch (February 9th)
The Long Dark Story Mode (March 20th?)
Perception (June 2016)
Mass Effect: Andromeda (December 2016)
Overland (2016)
Tacoma (2016)
Open World Survival Game (2016)
Banner Saga Pt2 (2016)
Roggle (?)
Return of the Obra Dinn (?)
Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord (?)

But most of all I'm looking forward to all the games I DONT know about. They seem to bring me the most delight stumbling across them usually from recommendations on this forum or the conference call.

As I've been saying a lot lately, I'm playing less games than ever and this trend seems to be increasing due to the most important release for me this year (its a new baby), so I'll be very picky on which of these I actually buy and play. Babies means anything I can stop and drop in an instant is a big win (ie. Turn Based)

*List is more for my benefit than anyone elses really..

Top 12 Giving Into the Hype Games of 2016 (I am Weak).

  1. Mass Effect: Andromeda
  2. Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir
  3. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  4. The Legend of Zelda
  5. Rise of the Tomb Raider
  6. The Last Guardian
  7. Firewatch
  8. Telltale Batman Game
  9. The Walking Dead: Michonne
  10. Gone Home
  11. Tacoma
  12. Some awesome game that no one sees coming!

I'm mainly looking forward to:

Dark Souls 3
Uncharted 4
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Ghost Recon: Wildlands (it's looking rather good)
No Man's Sky (let me at those unnamed planets)
Persona 5 (I've never played a Persona game)
Banner Saga (PS4)
Darkest Dungeon (PS4)
Rime (absolutely love the art style. Please be good)
Abzû

Hopefully we'll also get a Dragon's Dogma in some form; be it the online version, a remaster of the first game (on PS4) or, at this stage, I'd be happy with just the announcement for a sequel.

One not mentioned above or in the podcast that caught my eye is Telltale's Batman game.

Oh yeah! I can't wait to see what Telltale does with that. I am a TT junkie, and a Batman junkie--so this hopefully will work out well.

For me it's:

XCOM2
The Last Guardian
Mass Effect Andromeda

And I'm slowly getting more into Firewatch, so I'll probably jump into that. One that I'm absolutely sold on, day 1, but not sure if it's slated for 2016, is Horizon: Zero Dawn. Do we know if this is coming 2016?

I have high hope for Dark Souls 3 since the creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki has said this will be the last one. Hopefully that means it will be the best of the best but who knows!

I am definitely looking forward to most of the games mentioned. It'll be interesting to see where Destiny goes this year. I think I'm most excited for Overwatch and I'm hoping with all my heart that No Man's Sky will be an exciting and fun expansive game.

I'm most looking forward to Nintendo unveiling their new platform, NX. That's going to dominate a lot of my attention until it's released.

Star Fox Zero.
Do we have a thread for that? We could keep it in a nintendo thread though.

Also, clearly GOTY

Also not mentioned on the podcast: Pit People. It's the new game from the folks what brought you Battleblock Theater (one of my top 10 games of all time) and Castle Crashers. No official release date yet, but I have my fingers crossed.

Holy crap there are a lot of movies coming in 2016.

And I care about almost none of them. But what else is new?

+1
I look forward to the year when the comic book adaptation juggernaut crumbles, allowing money to go to more interesting and original projects on screen.
This is not that year, I'll probably be waiting a decade+ tbh.

Cinema is more entertainment than art for me.

Eh, the big franchises are scheduled out to 2020 and beyond. Once we hit 2029 or so, the kids who grew up playing Minecraft will make up the bulk of the coveted demographics. There's a relatively narrow window for other brands and franchises to make their debut before the nostalgia wave to end all nostalgia waves floods the cultural landscape.

Yeah, I'm not one for movies either. I only saw Pacific Rim last week and wasn't all that impressed. I haven't seen a single Avengers movie. I've been to the movies once in the past four years. Movies just aren't doable for us (small kids with special needs so good luck finding a sitter), and I find the value of games a lot greater: I hate paying 10+€ for a movie ticket when I remember a time when I could get a matinee ticket for 1.50$.

I used to be one for movies. Before becoming a dad, I'd average 20 odd movies a year, double that if I bought a pass to our local film festival. Since having our daughter we've been a bit slack on organising date nights and generally only catch four or so movies a year in theater, though my wife and I plan to indulge ourselves more in 2016, but babysitting + movie + dinner is expensive! It's forced us to be more picky.
Foruntately more of what I'm interested is on the small screen these days, it's a golden age of well produced drama these days so we're pretty lucky there.

Eleima, sounds like you're stuck in regards to movies but manage to find where to get your kicks. Gaming like TV is super convenient. But I hope you get some form of support to give you a little freedom. Both my wife and my parents live out of town, if we didn't have the odd babysitting night and 2 days a week with childcare we'd be in a pretty dark spot by now...

My wife is amazing and watches our kids one night a week so I can go to the theater. She doesn't usually care for setting movies that way, and I'm happy to see them alone, so it works out.
