The Goodjer World-wide Candy and Sweets Exchange

Pages

BIg thanks to Norfair for the Beer Exchange that inspired this. Also to all the people in the Secret Stan thread who talked about it.

The beer people can do it, so can we.

Here it is in a nutshell:

1. We get a list of people together from different parts of the country or other countries who love candy.
1a. Sign up by replying to this thread with what county you live in, if you're willing to be paired internationally, and what you like/dislike.
1b. Dee brings up a good point IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES,LET US KNOW!
2. We match them into pairs located as far apart from each other as possible.
3. Each person mails the other a selection of local candies/sweets that they love.
4. Enjoy deliciousness from far away lands.
5. Post pictures of your goodies. (You should probably take the pictures before step 4, I don't feel like editing this.)

There are a few ground rules:

You must pay shipping to get this stuff to your partner.

When you sign up BE SURE TO LIST IF YOU ARE WILLING TO SHIP TO OTHER COUNTRIES

The cutoff date to join in is going to be February 1st.

Try and have your candy in the mail by March 1st.

Try to spend about $20-30 but feel free to go nuts if you really want to.

Try to get edibles that the person you are exchanging with will like. Try and post your likes and dislikes in the thread.

Most importantly, make sure you send out your stuff!

Country: USA
International: Heck yes
Likes: sour things, gummy stuff, weird flavors, Valo-milks
Dislikes: Spicy stuff, potatoes.

I'm second, third and fourth as Robear and Dr. Incurable want to join in and don't want to type
Country: USA
International: You betcha! for all 3 of us
Likes: Interesting things from your part of the world.
Dislikes: Super spicy as it does not agree with kiri and Dr. Incurable. Careful with the milk for Ro.

Candy?! I like candy!

Country: USA
International: Yes
Likes: CANDY!
Dislikes: Sour stuff

And yes, HOTLIX is one a local-ish candy companies. Yes, I have and do eat them. No, I don't plan on making you worry about receiving candied bugs... unless you happen to mention an interest.

Country: USA
International: Oh, yes!
Likes: Fruity stuff, sour stuff, spicy stuff, "white chocolate"
Neutral: Chocolate (dark and milk)
Dislikes: black Licorice, crustaceans (seriously, I have a crustacean allergy, so no chocolate-covered prawns, please!), salted chocolate

Suggestion: Please make sure to note if you have nut allergies, gluten sensitivities, etc.

One additional Dislike for me that Kiri forgot, I am allergic to blueberries and anything related to them such as Acai berries.

A beer exchange? Yuck! But candy... Totally. Especially since I don't have access to the **real** goodies I used to enjoy as a kid (they haven 'em here, but my brain or rather my heart keeps telling me it's not the same).

Country: France
International: Well, um, duh?
Loves: milk chocolate, Skittles, Starbust
Likes: sour stuff, fruity stuff
Neutral: licorice, white chocolate (used to be a major dislike after overdosing on Hershey's cookies n cream as a teen), salted sweets, dark chocolate
No known allergies or sensitivities.

Cultural exchange through food! Count me in!

Country: USA
International: Yarp.
Loves: Dark chocolate, nuts, chocolate, coffee, caramel, did I mention chocolate?
Likes: sour/fruity, hard candies, coconut
Neutral: white chocolate, gummies
Dislikes: Licorice, jelly beans, twizzlers & twizzler-like atrocities
No allergies or sensitivities.

Love candy! Totally my downfall. So I am in

Country: The Netherlands
International: Well, um, duh? (stole your line here Eleima, and I am not even sorry )
Loves: licorice, dark chocolate (my preference, but I will eat any kind lol)
Likes: chips, nuts in chocolate,
Neutral: gummies
Dislikes: call me a snob (because I am one), but chocolate under 30% cacao just doesn't taste right. Sour candies, overtly sweet or salt. Unless that is the point of the experience
No known allergies or sensitivities, except for the dentist.

As one of the few people here with unlimited access to decent Shortbread, I feel I am obliged to put my name down for the good of humanity, if nothing else.

Country: Scotland
International: Sure, why not.
No particular loves or hates.
Allergies: Cats.....so....don't send me any cats.

*also i guess it would be good to know if there are any weird import restrictions or whatever - like I know the US apparently has a thing about Kinder Eggs?, for a start (chocolate egg with small toy pieces inside).

I should join this for the good of the salt licorice loving world. Also because Sweden doesn't do good peppermints.

Please join up, Pyxi! We can't get real Cadbury anymore without smuggling it. Frakkin Hershey. We need moar Britons!

Yes, join us Maq! Salt licorice sounds delicious.

Yes indeed. I was going to steer clear of Kinder because I know the US has some weird hang up on it. As for customs, they're gigantic pains in the buttocks. I still suspect the three parcels I shipped last year didn't make it because neither of the three goodjers has thanked or even acknowledged its arrival and I'm too much of a dummy to ask now. The parcel I shipped for Secret Stan this year had me lying through my teeth (they're... Books!! And the value is zero, because it's a gift!) otherwise they confiscate the goods or have the recipient pay taxes on it. Ludicrous really, but that's US Customs for you.

Salt Licorice is amazing but difficult. (Warning; it refers to *Ammonia* salts). See also, "Lakritz Dark Chocolate Lentils". Like licorice filled M&Ms. No ammonia lol.

I added a running list to the first post. If I missed someone, let me know.

Count me out. I prefer not to have candy in the house. If anyone wants to send me the cost of postage I'm happy to ship out some scandi salt licorice though.

I'm always down with spreading delicious goodness around the world.

Country: USA
International: Sure.
Loves: Chocolate, fruit chews, caramel, gummies, cookies, pastries, brittles, hard candy
Likes: Gingerbread, shortbread, white chocolate
Neutral: Same as likes, I guess? That's a lot of categories.
Dislikes: Coconut, raisins, coconut, coconut, toffee, coconut. I don't like coconut. It's a stupid dirt rock with white filling that should be used as packing materials.
I'm allergic to fireants and percocet. I don't think that will come up, but I run the Secret Stan thread, so I know how bizarre some of you people are.

Salt licorice is a real thing? Wow.

Upsadaisy for anyone else who might be interested!

Yes, join the delicious revolution! Come snack with us.

Boosted the signal on Twitter!

Tell your wife, tell your kids, we're tellin' everyone!

The Bear Clan is already purchasing some lovely delicacies from our corner of the world. All I have to say to our victims is UTZ !

I'm getting anxious to do some candy shopping. Have a couple local stores in mind as well as some of our local communities' varieties. Should be an assortment for whoever ends up with me.

Just two weeks left. I've already started a list of things to select from depending on my target's likes and dislikes.

We have purchased a few items that will keep and are a must from out corner of the world

I will only purchase things once I know who it is for and how quickly I will send it out.
Otherwise, it will be all gone before I can send it

I'm with you, I can't go shopping yet or they will be gone by February.
