Did a couple hatchet/pistol runs on Customs to warm back up. Haven't played for over a month or so. Found a Marked Room key on my second run. Did they up the spawn, or did I get really lucky?

They up the spawn about mid way last patch. They are talking about re-working how rare keys work. Some talk of possibly more common but durability on some keys and some talk of single use keys instead. No clear path yet just talk at this point.

So new patch came out. About 10 days ago. I skipped last patch so these thoughts are really the last two patches combined.

Desync - 100% Still an issue. 1000% better than it use to be. Old - Get behind cover .5 - 1 second later take damage or die. New- Get behind cover, take damage .1 - .2 seconds later. They are still working but improvements are noticeable.

FPS - The new map and method they are using huge help to FPS. I get nearly 110 on interchange (killer PC FYI). Shoreline has improved but once the re-make in new method will be even better.

Armor - A lot of new armor helmets. This has made such more of an improvement than I thought. It use to be if you didn't have fort on you were at a huge disadvantage because it was so much better than Paca. Well now there are like 5 armors between Paca and Fort armor. This has made a huge change because first if a guy is in fort and you are on one of the more easily gotten better armors you still have a good chance. Also I simply see more geared people using things other than fort because you can buy them easier so less people in fort.

Ammo - Now that there are so many levels of armor I think even early reset armor piercing is key. So this is actually a step down and I really think they need to come up with something or just have less types of ammo.

Interchange - Really cool concept map. They need to give it more extractions but they are working on that. A lot more of the loot is scattered which is cool but means you need to learn map pretty well before you can find loot as quickly as you are use to in containers. It is dark and looting really helps if you have weapon with flash light. Which is cool because it is a reason to use a flashlight on a gun.

PP19 - They have made this weapon now lvl 1 prapor and under 20k to buy. This is really big for early on because it's a really nice SMG. Still 9mm so not great against armor so you need to aim for head. However, great at taking out Scav's and if you can on the head you can take down armored players no problem. You will certainly outgrow this gun but I think giving people a better cheap starter gun was a great idea.

Tarkov is still a brutal learning experience. Really a game that you need to put time in. However, if you put that time in they are making it better and better.

Edit: They just released this on the patch they are workign on for end of month https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromT...

Shroud was streaming it last night in a foursome. All heavily armed. They went three straight maps, all different, and they saw like 3 people total each map. Until the last where they died on shoreline.

Chat was screaming the whole time. How boring. No action. It is not a streaming game. I’ve only played 3 times, but the intensity is there when you play. That stream last night did no justice to the game.

So I have a few thoughts on this overall.

1. Streamers audience matters. Summit1g was one of the other people that were streaming with shroud and has been playing a little over a week. His Chat is a lot more calm about it. He also has been a big streamer for years where shroud really recently got big because of PUBG (he previously streamed Counter strike but not over 10k viewer mark like summit was). The audience of these streamers even though they play together and are friends are very different. Shroud got into it a while back and even said that he played mostly off stream because of bad viewer numbers. This game simply isn't for his mostly PUBG lover audience. This is far from a BR and is much slower paced patient game.

2. Not all games are super streamer friendly. Summit/Grimz/Sequisha do fine streaming this game because of their personalities. Same as Kotton and Deadlyslob (both who have been streaming the game for longer). Those players commentary keeps people in it more than the game play. I love this game but yet I watch other games more than I watch EFT (although been watching summit more because I like his commentary than the game). They are just more viewer friendly.

I agree with everything you said. I brought it up mostly because of the reaction shroud’s chat gave it. I think it was fine to watch; I actually enjoyed it, but shroud is also not my go-to stream. I also find the game awesome. I just found it funny that those “30k” people may now have a slightly differing viewpoint because of what they are used to seeing. Glad to hear other streamers are doing so with success.

Have not updated in a while so some basic state of game/information.

Network optimization was done throughout the year. Start of year Desync was about 180ms it is now averaging about 60-80ms. Not amazing but very playable.

Overall map optimization happened and I am not getting 90FPS + on all maps (with a killer rig). Overall much improved from it's old state where I was happy to average 50-60 on some maps. Still a very intense and not super optimized game.

I think the game is very playable and fun right now with the technical improvements. However, if you are not ok with some of the stuff above I would not recommend for you yet. Also believe that with these improvements they are happy currently with the optimization/network and working more on finishing content/systems in game so not sure it will improve much in next 6 months. However, graphically anti aliasing is coming which will probably make a big difference.

Content
5 full maps are in and working well
Flea market added. Great addition to game. Has changed economy in a lot of good ways and developers are tweaking to fix issues.
Vendor prices dynamically change based on flea market. This was an amazing addition and is working mostly well. They are some exploits they are in the middle of fixing and are suppose to roll out this week.
Over 10 new weapons added over the last year including Mosin, M1A and MP7.
They have added a bunch of armor over the last year and gone from 3 chest armors to 7 (technically 9 but one armor has 3 variants so only counting it as 1) from 3 helmets to ~10. They really have nice ranges and progressions on armor.

Coming up below

1) Patch 0.11 will be released this year, for sure. But it will be downsized a little bit. For example there won't be UP/DOWN outfit change, transferred to the next patch.

2) Patch 0.11 content: New Map; Killa; Guns (RPK 16 / HK-416 / Mosins / Remington 700 / AR-15 civil version ADAR / VEPR Hunter / SVD maybe / New Melee; New NPC "raiders" likely.

3) Hideout is 98% ready. Highly likely next NY patch.

4) Voice Chat - 90% ready. Highly likely next NY patch

5) Arena - this is release endgame content. Nikita designed it a year ago, but it will be added with release of the game. Will be 1 on 1 / 2 on 2 / 5 on 5 / PVE mods and couple unique game mods. Will include 5 special Arena locations. One is ready 4 to go. Player will recieve "reputation points" for it.

6) New antialiasing very soon

7) Next scav boss after Killa will be on woods. Hunters gang.

8) New maps will be released much faster. Almost all content is ready. 2 maps in 2-3 months.

9) Ratings - new season is on. Nikita told there will be gifts for top rankers.

10) New NY gifts for players. And unique clothes for Beta and Alpha testers after release.

11) Year 2019 will be the last year of Beta testing.

Has the flea market effected the meta at all?

Absolutely in quite a few ways.

1. Quest items early on in wipe (we are about 4 weeks in ) were super valuable. Now they are going down but a lot are still valuable. This changes meta in a couple ways. It makes other loot spawns and lower loot tier things more valuable because now you can get quest items and sell them. It also made it so when you are missing that one or two item you can just buy it (although early on super overpriced).
2. You can now but a key you need for quest for very high price but then turn around and cell it at a small lose, same, profit.
3. High end Ammo/Med supplies are through the roof on both vendors market because of dynamic prices. Now the way they got their needs to be fixed. Mostly people are complaining. However, it makes things like searching med areas more important, and making people use high end ammo sparingly, and in only situations.

Two other things added this year I left out that change gameplay

1. You now can not instantly load ammo in clips (so you need to bring like 4 mags for big fights when in heavy gear).
2. Medical/food animations are in and take time. So you can't med in fights anymore and you need to think about doing it.
