Recommendations for a VPN system for online streaming videos?

So, the CFL is going to be streaming the Grey Cup game this Sunday on YouTube, but it's only available to countries where it isn't being shown on television.

I have a friend who is interested in watching the game, but not interested enough to be continuously paying for a ridiculous cable package that includes the TSN channels.

People have been telling me that.....I mean, people have been telling my friend that Hola Unblocker still works great for viewing out-of-country websites, but I....I mean, he is wondering if whatever system that uses is going to be too slow for streaming HD video content since it's going through some kind of proxy. Would a better bet be signing up for one of those premium VPN sites and paying for just one month, or do you think this would work just fine?

Don't know Hola Unblocker, but in case paid VPN becomes their choice: I use Private Internet Access from the road. They make it easy to choose your VPN endpoint by country and I'd have no problem streaming through them.

I have a friend who uses VPNUK and finds it worth the money.

Bear in mind if you use Hola it'll jack your bandwidth for botnets. All there in the Terms of Service.

Yeah I regularly use Private Internet Access as well. It's worked well for YouTube and region locked websites. Only Hulu gives me issues, but since I only end up there maybe once or twice a year, isn't much of an issue for me.

I do tend to turn it off when watching HD content, however, for quicker buffering. Not sure how well it would work for love streaming.

Thanks for the tips, folks. Ended up finding a service similar to Private called ZenMate because it had a week long free trial and it seems to be working well so far.

And yeah, Hola seemed to have some noxious stuff going on.

Irritated that this has to go on at all, though. Would gladly sit through YouTube ads or pay a fee to watch it streaming, but once again my only official option is to pay an exorbitant subscription through a cable company that treats people who succumb to their monopoly like garbage. God, I want this old media to just die already.

We're working on it.
