Kid laptop

Looking to get a laptop for my son for Christmas. I should also mention that I am looking for a cheap laptop. The requirements right now are that it had to be able to run Minecraft and Terreria. When I look at something like this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-ins...

I see that the CPU is a 1.9 vs the min required 2.6 Ghz. I really understand so little about computers, but I take it that the min is actually a minimum, meaning this wouldn't work- yes?

Also, I read a little bit about integrated vs dedicated graphics cards- is there anyway of knowing ahead of time whether the integrated card is going to work? For example, how would I know just by looking at this one?

I am incredibly dense on these sorts of issues, despite being in conversations about things such as this in the past. It's a little bit embarrassing sometimes, the depths of my ignorance, but any assistance would be appreciated.

I just ordered one of these for my daughter (on sale today). Seems like the slightly more updated model as what you linked, with 2.7GHz CPU, etc. Still uses integrated graphics, but I'm sure that'll be sufficient for Terraria, and I suspect it's fine for Minecraft.

I also saw that, and was thinking about that one. If anyone can confirm it will run Minecraft I might have to jump in it today. Minecraft min specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 (K8) 2.6 GHz.
RAM: 2GB.
GPU (Integrated): Intel HD Graphics or AMD (formerly ATI) Radeon HD Graphics with OpenGL 2.1.
GPU (Discrete): Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT or AMD Radeon HD 2400 with OpenGL 3.1.
HDD: At least 200MB for Game Core and Other Files.
Java 6 Release 45.

My daughter has been playing Minecraft on a 5-year-old hand-me-down laptop. I'd be quite shocked if this one couldn't handle it.

Waited too long- it's sold out.

Guess I may end up going to Best Buy and ask them- unless I see something special online.

Even if not the best, thoughts on whether this should run Minecraft: http://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Black-1...

Any help appreciated.

plenty good enough. The system requirements Minecraft lists include very old processors, so this one will be fine even though the clock speed is lower. It has a bunch of other optimizations that make it much faster.

Awesome- thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

I've noticed that, especially if there are Mods involved, the more important resource for a Minecraft gaming laptop is RAM. If you get a machine with a beefy processor but just 4gb of RAM, it's still going to run like crap, especially if it's running Windows 10.

CPU wise, just stay away from the words "Pentium", "M-Series" or "E2".

This Lenovo laptop from Best Buy seems to be a pretty good deal.

It's hard to find the exact details on the CPU and GPU that's in it, but at this price it'll be hard to beat.
