Philips Hue Lights and gaming - Chariot (Xbox One / Steam)

I don't know if many of you own a set of Philips Hue lights but those who do might be interested in this.

Have you heard of Chariot , the only game commercially available that fully integrates Philips Hue Lights directly ingame ? (The lights in your room change in reaction to what happens in the game).

Digital trends just did a pretty nice video that shows the results:

While the video talks about Xbox One, the Hue lights integration is now available on the Steam PC version too.

*Disclaimer*
I am the producer of Chariot and a long time GWJ member who thought that this might be of interest to the community. I'm very proud of this game and would be happy to answer any questions about Chariot.

Cheers

Cool video! Do you know if there are plans to add Hue support to Xbox One or Steam games in general? I have Chariot on my Xbox One, but I can't see spending the full Hue cost if it isn't going to apply more broadly.

Thanks philucifer,

I don't think it's possible to add support for games in general since it's really up to developers to code this support in their game and it's obvisouly not a priority for everyone. However I'd say that the response to this Chariot feature is really good and that Philips, with whom we collaborate closely, are very interested in having more games support this. Hopefully more titles add this kind of support in the coming months.
I'm just super proud that we are the first and that it work so well in the context of Chariot.

That's awesome.

I've been vaguely intending for a long time to build an adalight. But (setting aside my own reluctance to learn how to solder) that would just mimic what's on screen, and surround lighting has much more potential than that -- games have surround sound, so why not light, too?

Thanks misplacedbravado,

With connected homes and such I believe we are going to see more and more games supporting cool features like this that add to the experience. It might not be for all games but for Chariot it totally makes sense.

Misterproof, you need to talk to the guys who are remaking System Shock 2.

Yeah that Shodan intro would be a good fit too :-0

Arise thread!

Misterproof, I just wanted to say thanks! This game is a blast. I played it very briefly when it first came out and decided to have my wife give it a try. I didn't think she would do all that great (she's not really a gamer) but loves the game and does pretty well. Any game that I can get her to play so we can co-op something is totally cool in my book
