Guess I'm making Steam Winter sale threads my thing. November is almost here, we're gonna start with the Halloween sale, then Thanksgiving, and then the insanity begins. So get ready, load up your Steam wallets (I've already redeemed a 50€ card!), ignore your bloated backlog, and throw money at Steam (try not to overdo it)! The Steam Winter (or summer, depending on your hemisphere) sale is coming.
Remember to use som good old tools:
Steam Sale Tracker
Steam Sale Voting Spreadsheet
Great advice:
And for you new folks, here's my obligatory mention of IsThereAnyDeal and SteamDB if you're bargain-hunting and/or wanting to check price history.
Don't forget to follow the flow chart:
And sit back and watch:
That's right...
Yeah, I know, I used the same stuff as last year, so what? Let's see you do better!
Edit: fine, here's a new one:
I was tempted by the recent Kerbal Space Program 40% off on Steam, but should I wait out for the sale? I've wanted it for a while at a cut price.
Well... Are you going to play it immediately? If so, it might be worth springing for it. Otherwise, you're probably better off waiting. Then again, I didn't quite click with KSP, so maybe I'm not the best person to ask. :)
Not straight away, there are enough games taking up too much of my time already! But I do intend to start playing around Christmas time, I'm just hoping it is at as good a price (hopefully better) by the winter sale.
all y'all? y'all are crazy.
where's my wallet? I need to lock it up.
Well, this will be the first big test of my "no games that I don't plan on playing immediately" rule. So far I've been holding but we know how the temptations of a Steam Sale can be...
Welp. Time to audit the wishlist. Gotta get ready.
I'm hoping for a big discount on Shadow of Mordor and the GoT Telltale game among other things.
Shadow of Mordor GOTY is already 66% off as part of the Halloween sale, not sure if it'll get much lower during the winter sale.
I'm not helping, am I?
I started playing Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries last night, $5 on sale...
I wouldn't recommend it.

I can wait, it'll likely get that low again. No time between now and then anyways!
Oh god. Oh god. No, not again! NOT AGAIN!
Just kidding, here's my wallet, take it all.

Yeah, a failed kickstarter isn't a good sign of things to come.
I'm going in to this one moderately confident that I'll be able to avoid spending much, and not buy anything over $5. Moderately.
I actually don't know of a game I really want right now. My wishlist is full of games that are all just things that sound like they might be interesting but I'm not sure I really want them, which are generally the games I'm willing to throw $2-$5 at in the hopes of getting 2 hours out of them. With Fallout 4 almost now, to be followed by Darkest Dungeon right when I start to get burnt out on Fallout I don't need anything. I must keep telling myself this.
The sales are the primary way I learn about games now though, mostly through filthy* enablers in this thread. I'm sure something will crop up.
*some enablers may not be filthy.
I have no money for the Halloween sale, so I'm safe enough. The winter sale may be a whole other story though. That being said, the main game I'm anticipating is Just Cause 3, all the other ones I can wait with. I may even throw up a 'no gifts' tag and just buy a few things for my fellow GWJers.

Yeah, it was actually a polygon article detailing how another developer has picked up the game and will fulfill the kickstarter rewards that made me aware of the game at all. Though there's no discussion of them continuing the episodes.
Or fixing the problems with the episode that's out.
The concept is fine, but the mechanics are wonky.
Is there a Halloween sale now? Awesome.
Hopefully there's a big sale on Tales from the Borderlands. If so, I'm going Oprah on that one.
Saved by an empty wallet this year... Maybe?

j/k not really first :(

Yer wicked slow!

Same. I mean, I might buy Dragonfall this weekend, not that I have any plans for playing it soon. But $3! But then again it might go cheaper on the winter sale, right? Not that I have any plans for playing it then.
I could, conceivably, buy no new games for the next year, and still have a wealth of new-to-me games to play.
I shouldn't be buying much this Steam Sale.
But we all know that I will. I'll buy some games at bonkers cut-rate prices, then proceed to not play them until long after the next Steam Sale. Because I'm a gentleman, and there's a correct way to go about things.
Strongly considering a no_gifts suffix though. You people should take a look at how many unplayed games there are in my library before adding to that list.
I might even justify some purchases to myself on account of my potentially buying a tasty new rig when my bonus hits in March. I'd best have some shiny AAA games on hand to stretch out the currently-embryonic new machine, right?
A couple of games on my wishlist are under $10 right now. Torn on what the heck am I waiting on vs. I already have too many games in my library I haven't played yet.
Sheesh.
I was quite active in the Summer sale, so I'm unlikely to go nuts here.
Still waiting for Far Cry 4 and Shadow of Mordor to get down to my impulse buy range. No, Mordor's current $17 price still doesn't cut it.
Mostly, all I want is some kind of sale on Divinity: Original Sin.
No! Too soon!! It's like putting out X-Mas decorations before Halloween!!!
Sigh. And now this thread is tagged. See what I did there?
If you're considering buying now or waiting for the winter sale, consider that the meta-game for the Winter sale might be fun. That's another reason to delay if you won't play.
(Delay If You Don't Play! is my new Steam motto)
I'm getting better at resisting AMAZING!!! deals, so I'm confident I can stay out for this. I'm not buying games unless I will play them that same day.

Play or Delay!
