Lord of Waterdeep - 2015 Tournament - UNDERWAY!

Pages

Tournament is LIVE

Tourney Structure
For the first round, everyone will play two games. Last year we went by score, this year we'll go by victory, with total score being a tie-breaker. If you get first place in a game you get 5 points, second place awards 3, and third will award 1. Anything else nets nothing.

Round two will involve the top 8 participants. The participants will be divided via a seeding system into two different games. Each winner and second place player will advance into the semi-final

The semi-final is 4 person match, with the top two advancing to a head to head final for all of the marbles!

In tournament protocol

The player listed at the top of the game list is in charge of starting the game. That player should also screen cap and post the results. Please allow for maximum time. Expansion games will use the whole kitten kaboodle - turn everything on. Undermountain, Skullport, Long Match.

To determine opponents I'm basically going to draw names out of a hat twice. Everyone will be participating in two games in round 1. Stay tuned for the list!

Put me down for both please!

Woo-hoo! You are IN.

I am in for both!

Yes! Sign me up:D

Is this happening on the ipad?

Yeah, you can totally play the app on the iPad. Do you want in? Vanilla, expansions, or both?

Better sign me up for both. I'll need to go make sure my ipad can run it.

I have an ipad 2 and it runs fine (not the latest ios i think, i can check when i get home). A little sluggish with the AI, but nothing worth mentioning really.

Will do! As a heads up, I believe someone used an ancient iPad 2 last year with no issues.

EDIT - Dibshauser'd!

Well my ipad doesn't think you look so hot either Harpo.

*runs off crying*

iPad 2s are notoriously easy to offend!

Are these played async?
Is there room for a beginner - I only played the AI a couple times.

I'll let you know if I want to sign up - I tend not to play online games, I'm not sure why. Weird fear I guess. I'd need to see if I could get a hold of my wife's iPad.

Beginners are absolutely welcome! And we do everything Async - it just makes it much, much more convenient, especially with the disparate time zones.

Harpo, I'm in for both! (And thanks for the heads-up on this via the iOS thread!)

Yay! Glad to have you back!

BTW, also works on iphone for those wondering. I wouldn't recommend it for your main platform, but if anyone is worried about being out of town, or not able to get to their pad for a day, it is great, if tiny.

My iPhone 5S is my primary Waterdeep device and I find it quite playable, although I wouldn't recommend it as a platform to try and learn the game if you aren't already pretty familiar with it.

Please count me in for both tourneys. (pacman1477 in waterdeep)

Tempted. But it hurt so much last time...

Allow me to enable you... There are TWO tourneys this year, so that's twice the amount of chances to win glory and Lord-ship!

Also, if people have friends who aren't GWJers who'd like to participate, just let me know their LoW names and I'll put them on the appropriate list(s)!

I'm in for Vanilla. I haven't thought about picking up the expansions - considering I like the base game but don't play it much, are the expansions worth it?

I'm in for Vanilla. My username is FeegleThePyrate

Scoundrels adds the corruption mechanic which makes the game a lot more interesting due to the added risk/reward decisions you need to make. Undermountain is straight-up power creep.

I'm a huge fan of Skullport. I could take or leave Undermountain, but Skullport adds a nifty layer to the game for sure and I'd consider it "must buy" if you like the vanilla.

Expansion for me!

Done!

Quick update for everyone: I'm going to ping a few people that were involved last year, as I'd like to have between 12-20 for each tournament before commencing. I'd also like to start if not end of next week than shortly after, so stay tuned, and if you want to reach out to friends who play and point them this way, that's awesome!

I was involved in last years tournament so I'm totally down for this years as well!

Account name: FalchionEdge.

The one issue I have is if we can have the turn timer at a significant length again this year as I'll be working with a 12-15 hour time difference still.

I'd love to play. And I'll play in both.

Thanks for running this!

How many turns is typical in a day? The reason I ask is that I'd be using my wife's iPad, but she may need to take it to work occasionally and bring it back when she comes home. So, I it's possible I wouldn't have it for 9 hours on some days. On most days she wouldn't need it.
