Pick An Article Julian Murdoch Has to Write

He's been travelling for work so much in the last six months I've been gentle and not demanded an article ... until now. As part of the 2014 Donation Drive Julian Murdoch has to write an article based on a topic picked by the community.

Last year was Hatoful Boyfriend.

The year before that was Secret of The Magic Crystals.

Now this next article doesn't have to be based on a silly game, but it's obvious we've turned up some real gems here. So, what's next?

Farming Simulator!!

Let's give the poor man a break this year. I nominate Undertale. That should scratch that same "weird, quirky game by a single developer" itch that Hatoful had. Plus the dev is local so maybe Julian could get an an embedded report?

Edit: Alternatively anything about Turbine and their recent troubles would be good to see too.

Her Story?

Unique, quirky and bonkers.

Seems apropos given the previous entries.

Rocket League!

Wait, I'm doing this all wrong.

SOLD! Thanks for playing everyone!

Persona 4: Dancing All Night

I just found out about this and the premise just sounds nuts.

I want Julian to play the entirety of the Dragon Age franchise, and report on the state of Thedas.

I'd love a piece on the rise and fall of Interplay and its successors, up through Pillars of Eternity and Torment, but that might be a bit beyond the scope of this request

I really feel like the people deserve to know the true life story of SallyNasty.

The thing I've enjoyed most about Julian's last two donation drive articles was the way he treated the silly games with dignity.

I don't have any silly games suggestions, but I think rabbit could write a fantastic Ultimate General: Gettysburg piece.

A review of "The Sarkeesian Effect: Inside the World of Social Justice Warriors"

Ok, more seriously, I'd enjoy an article on some sort of topic rather than a game review this time. I enjoy Julian's writing and his interviewing skills. I think the suggestion about Turbine's recent history is a good one. Another option could be an article about the formation, history, and future of inXile Entertainment (I'm sure Brian Fargo would be game for chatting with Julian) - between Wasteland 2, Tides of Numenara, and Bard's Tale 4, they're shaping up to be a sort of resurgence of classic Interplay.

League of.... oh wait, what's that? Oh, DON'T mention LoL around rabbit. Right!

I think I after last week, I just want Julian to play Sonic Dreams Collection and write an 'objective review' as the reviewer who had to review the game in a world where it actually came out for Sega Dreamcast.

Deadly Premonition: How? Why? What?

...does Hatoful Boyfriend have a sequel?

I think a horror game might be fun and a bit out of Julian's wheelhouse without being a bad game. SOMA would be great for going that route.

I want him to get deeply entrenched in an online simulator and write some AAR's.. Falcon 4 would be great!

If he hasn't played it, I second this suggestion. Great game.

Now if we want a really bonkers game, may I suggest Metal Gear Solid V.

If we want to go that route, I'd nominate DCS: A-10 Warthog in full simulation mode.

Not if we want him to get off the ground by the time the next pledge drive article rolls around.

How about Shenmue II.

Including the HOTAS, right?

Games I'd like to see more talk about:
Undertale
Kentucky Route Zero (& the side games!)
The complete works of Increpare

Or, heck, just pick some random stuff on itch.io and interview the creators.

Well if we're not going the spoof-game route, then I'd throw my hat in for Undertale as well.

As a bonus to his sanity, only takes like 6-8 hours to finish.

He used to be an actual pilot, right? Pre-seizures. Or am I thinking of another guy?

Gaming at middle age. Both the physical, mental, psychological and social challenges (if any!) he has to deal with it, and where he sees his gaming life going as he continues to age. How it colors his relationship with his wife and kids.

As someone who is only a few years or so behind him I'd love to get his perspective.

But if we have to pick a game, I'd love to see Julian keep a literary straight face while reviewing Sakura Swim Club

I second this nomination! I think there's so much that could be written about this game...

I nominate "Seduce Me the Otome"!!! Because it's free on Steam, it's made by one developer I believe, it's another visual novel, and it's a refreshing change of pace in an industry dominated by dudebros.
Or Cinders. That one's good too.

How about: Why the SNES is the best console of all time, even besting the PS2.

You spelled 360 incorrectly.

I vote for a neo-Marxist critique of COD: BLOPS 3

Oh, I got one. Have him play Elite Dangerous and only do smuggling.
