Sounds good to me.
And I do plan to continue the Gaiden group each quarter, as well. We'll most likely do a handheld game when the main group does a home console or PC game, and vice versa. But rather than doing a vote, I'll just try to pick something that compliments the main group and doesn't cannibalize from future picks.
I think this is a fantastic idea. Props to you and damnablebear both!
Hi everyone! I've made some sizable updates to the OP and the vote post. Please have a look to familiarize yourself with how I'm going to be running this next quarter.
Thanks!
I'm wondering, does it make sense to have a minimum number of votes to be included in the bingo ball drawing? I nominated FF V, for example, but I'm pretty sure I'd be the only person wanting to play that. If that lone bingo ball were to get picked, it'd be pretty disappointing for most everyone. If we have a good number of games that have one or two votes, collectively, the odds that we'll get an unpopular game at some point are likely.
Fun fact--running out into an open field when there are about 4 Imperials dug in behind sandbags is a good way to get your character taken out in a hurry. Probably should have scouted the area first
Just got to Chapter 3 this morning after nearly blowing up the gate in Bruhl from a missed tank shot and now I'm ready to get into the meat of this one. We'll see how I did with picking a squad that (hopefully) doesn't hurt itself from conflicting traits.
Tagging this thread for next quarter.
I already burned myself out ok Valkyries chronicles when I hit one of the difficulty spike missions.
Either way. Go team! Scouts rule!
My answers are mostly the same, although I already finished Graces F, so not that one.
Tales of Xillia
Eternal Sonata
Final Fantasy X HD
Final Fantasy X-2 HD
I could say Persona Q, but I'm already making progress on that, and think I will manage to get a big chunk done when travelling for the holidays. RNG's list is good. I finished Nier but only one ending. I left Ni No Kuni abandoned somewhere in the middle, so I could always go back to that. Hard to choose.
Guess I'll just stick with those 4 for now instead of picking a 5th one.
Just as a heads up in case it influences anything: unless something weird happens, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky will likely be the Gaiden Club pick for next quarter. These are the perks of a dictatorship.
Can we place multiple votes on a single game?
Part of me says yes, but then another part of me says that would be sabotage. What candidate did you have in mind?
Oh, I was going to go all in on Persona Q, but I'm fine with spreading the love, if that's the preferred voting method.
Clock - is the point of the Gaiden thread to stay portable/mobile? I thought we had discussed this but wasn't sure if that was the total verdict. If it's just an alternative for those who have played something picked here too, that's cool. I'd love to do the Gaiden thread every quarter but this quarter just proved too much for me :P
The goal is simply to offer an alternative. I had thought to simply do the opposite of the main club (handheld when you went console; console when you went handheld), but looking over the list so far, I see a lot of home console games.
Edit: And I normally won't pick the game so far in advance. I just went ahead and pre-picked Trails in the Sky after my eighth or ninth conversation where someone mentioned they wanted to play it.
No worries, then
Persona Q
Atelier Totori
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy X-2
Hyperdimension Neptunia Vol 1
My votes as follows:
Persona Q
Tactics Ogre (PSP)
SMT IV
Etrian Odyssey series (DS/3DS, any of them really)
Xenoblade
Here are my votes:
Final Fantasy X-2
NieR
Disgaea 2
Earthbound
Suikoden
I think the only really long one in that list is Disgaea 2.
Will the list in the second post ever get purged? Like if the game goes a round of voting without getting any vote, will it get removed? I'm mostly looking at Koudelka, which I nominated the first time around... I ended up giving it a shot two months ago, and almost immediately gave up on it since it was hot garbage...
Depending on what we do, I'd like to participate next quarter. Might keep me on track!
My votes are
Resonance of Fate
Final Fantasy X-2
NIER
Tales of Xillia
Etrian Odyssey Untold
I am going to abstain from voting for Q1 '16, because Trails in the Sky has been in my backlog for ages. I had an initial start back when it released where I got several hours in, then ended up sidetracked and never got back. I'll need to restart it since I barely remember any details at this point.
So I'll be joining the Gaiden playthrough for Q1; if the game picked for this thread is short-ish and also in my backlog, I may get really crazy and try to play through both.
I'm almost definitely going to play Xenoblade Chronicles X and/or Trails In the Sky this coming quarter, but I could be convinced to push them back for Tales Of Xillia 2 which is the only other JRPG still on my backlog... I want to replay a few of the Final Fantasy games but other than Final Fantasy X-2 I'm hoping/waiting for remakes (of VII, IX, and XII).
I'll forfeit any other votes.
I only have 4 to cast votes for as these I might actually play if they get picked.
Blue Dragon
Eternal Sonata
Final Fantasy X
Child of Light
Persona Q
Etrian Odyssey (either!)
Final Fantasy X
Radiant Historia
The World Ends With You
Really hoping we end up with a 3DS one to play with that's in my backlog!
Child of Light
Suikoden
Rune Factory 4
Recettear
Does Rune Factory 4 count? I figure it probably does. Feel free to ignore it if it doesn't.
Mostly the same as last time:
Suikoden I (PS1/PSP/Vita/PS3)
Demon Gaze (Vita)
Black Rock Shooter (PSP/Vita)
Ys: Memories of Celceta (Vita)
Gurumin (PSP/Vita)
Kingdom Hearts II
Persona 3
Final Fantasy VII
My votes? After poring over my backlog, I nominate the following, in no particular order:
Suikoden II (PS1/PSP/Vita/PS3)
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS1/PSP/Vita/PS3)
Persona 4 (Vita/PS2/PS3)
Tales of Symphonia (GC/PS3/PC)
Xenoblade Chronricles (Wii/3DS)
OP (and second post) updated!
You have child of light on there twice.
