I wasn't being serious about nominating ff15, just admitting I have a problem and even new games end up on my backlog.
I like the idea of going back to older titles, and fostering a discussion and excitement around them. The zeitgeist around new games is often why I pick them up at launch. It's hard to go back to older games when there is no discussion to be had. I will keep my votes where they are.
Earthbound, Dark Cloud 2, Wild Arms 3, Etrian Odyssey.
I'd join for Suikoden II, Nier or FFIX so they get my votes. I want (oh what ideals and dreams!) to play all three of those in the nearish future anyway. Would also vote for I Am Setsuna if that is eligible.
Dark Cloud 2 and Wild Arms 3 are on my pile and have been since shortly after I got my PS2. They are larger games AFAIK and I doubt I'd manage to do much in the time frame. Still got several large JRPGs in-progress to finish off, and DQVIII lands on 3DS next month. That's a must-play for me as the original version is a froggy favourite. I won't vote for them due to that uncertainty but I would consider trying to join if they won.
(I'm still in for this session's Suikoden I club. Life has not been cooperating so I'm starting much later than I wanted to.)
I'll also toss in votes for Final Fantasy IX and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
I'll throw in a vote for Dark Cloud 2 and Wild Arms 3. I have Dragon Quest VIII for the PS2 lying around somewhere so if that wins, I'll dust off my copy and play along.
Oh, can I also vote for EarthBound or am I out of votes?
All right, winter is here and I'll definitely have some more downtime to poke around with some RPGs. Here are my five:
Dark Cloud 2
Lightning Returns
Earthbound
Suikoden 2
Secret of Mana
I also vote for DQVIII, because:
a) it was fun, and
b) I told RNG I would.
Cor blimey! We get 5 votes and DQVIII is awight? I'll cast my final vote for it then, guv'nor. [/Yangus]
Thanks.
Already partway through Secret of Mana, so if that gets the nod I might actually finish one of these things within the quarter! Please put me down for:
Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy IX
Earthbound
You guys have good taste in games.
Here are my votes:
Dark Cloud 2
Child of Light
Final Fantasy IX
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
Secret of Mana
Really hoping Dark Cloud 2 is the pick!
I love the idea of dq8 but with the new version of it coming out Jan 20 isn't it kind of going to be a "new game" again? I mean I'm buying that day 1 and look forward to reading what people think. Is it keeping in the spirit cause DQ7 is my my suggestion next time out.
My votes for the next quarter are:
Dark Cloud 2
Final Fantasy XIII
Legend of Dragoon
Suikoden II
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter
FF IX
Nier
Tales of Xillia 2
Got to vote for things in my pile so I can maybe play this quarter.
I'll throw a vote in for Dark Cloud 2, it's already in my pile and maybe this will give me the motivation to actually start it.
Grandia 2, Front Mission 4, Wild Arms 3, Lightning Returns, and Xenosaga?
I may be tempted to partake in my first jrpg quarterly come January if one of...
Earthbound. Bought on 3ds on VC release and promptly forgotten about.
Secret of Mana. Have about 2.5k Wii coin left on account from way back. Needs spending.
Child of Light. As much as I enjoyed I never did get round to finishing this.
I am Setsuna. fancied taking a look at this for a while and I reckon it'll be in psn post Christmas sale.
Every quarter Child of Light comes up and every quarter its length is debated, but that is my vote.
It's on the pile and is one I want to finish before the WiiU is replaced.
Voting has closed and I'll be doing the drawing sometime today. I'm off today so it will literally be whenever I can. I'll post links to the video a bit before I do it, both here and in the Slack channel.
Ah cannae wait!
Come on, something I own!
I cut the 1-vote games since that defeats the purpose of it being a club. Even the two-votes are a little hairy but we had less input this time than normal. Drawing to come!
A lot of people were off work during the nomination/voting this time. True to the gwj name, a lot of members only check the forums at work.
Not disagreeing with your decision. Just providing an explanation for low turnout.
I'm sure plenty of people will join the actual game in Jan.
