I rescind my vote for Mega Man Legends, as I've fired up 2 again and don't plan to revisit 1.
Or, are there no takebacks?
Maybe I missed this particular part of the discussion, but when did Ico/Shadow fo the Colossus become catalogued as JRPG?
Seriously wondering how we arrived at that hehehe.

The minute we classified Mega Man Legends as a JRPG. Might as well go for Zelda and Castlevania at this point
I would like to throw in a vote for Dark Souls.
I wouldn't know about Mega Man Legends but no way is Ico a JRPG.
Anyone here have any experience with Radiant Historia?
I was buying some stuff for school on Amazon, noticed it was only $20, and somehow it just snuck its way into my cart. Weird.
I always loved the ideas & story behind Chrono Trigger, but the game overall just never clicked with me. (Please don't shun me.)
I'm hoping RH will be more of what I'm looking for in time travelin' JRPG shenanigans.
It lost its way about 2/3 through and you can definitely find some inconsistencies in the time line jumps. But I regret not finishing it so I wouldn't mind if it showed up in a future game club...
Hmmm, wow... Child Of Light was a great game, but, like, really short compared to some of the others. As has been mentioned. I'd consider it for next quarter when many of us might otherwise be engaged with Final Fantasy XV. Or, I'm going to suggest that we combine Child Of Light with other games for a "short RPG quarter." Costume Quest, Parasite Eve (I *really* want to re-play this), Lunar: Silver Star... I'm not suggesting or voting for it this quarter, but, throwing the idea out to gauge interest for the future.
I'd also beg against FF12 simply because I want to save myself for the 2017 (fingers crossed) re-released version. And I definitely don't think Ico/SotC count, although I loved both of those and would participate if they were chosen.
I never quite got to Secret of Mana or Nier; and would love to revisit the port of FF7 with cheats. Not having a handheld system (beyond an Android tablet) is definitely limiting my options... I'd love to play another Paper Mario game, but don't think there are any for the WiiU yet.
That said, I yield to the magic of the bingo cage:
Secret of Mana
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy VII
Nier

It's in my abundance of riches waiting to be played someday, I've been hoping it ends up being one of our 2017 quarterly picks to give me an excuse to jump it to the head of the line.
I threw ICO/shadow of the colossus on there without really thinking about it. I realized after I posted that those were probably not jrpg, so should probably remove them. I also forgot about the remake of ffxii coming so will also rescind my suggestion for that.
Parasite Eve
Oh hells yes. I would be totally down for another run through of Parasite Eve even though I've beaten it multiple times. But that's not really something you need a whole quarter for

Maybe at some point we should have a quarter of shorter games (Child of Light, Parasite Eve, Mega Man Legends...)

Or make those Gaiden choices?

I'm out of the loop, how does that get worked out? Is there a thread? Clocky's choice?

Clocky typically picks them. And then I say 'I'll play it!', and then give up after a month.

Oh hey, me, too!
You know... a lot of these games are dismissed as being "too short" and yet when we pick something long like Persona 3 hardly anyone finishes it.
I feel like, especially in the holiday quarter, it'd be good to pick something even as short as Child of Light just to have a possibility that someone will actually finish it!

I actually figured this would be me more often than not; I've been surprised to find the quarterly pick more motivating than I expected!
That said, I have low expectations for my activity this next quarter; I've already got two rock-solid rpg's I'm going to be juggling as it is, so this will probably be the first quarter since we started the quarterly jrpg club where I bow out. Of course, with my luck a game I really want to play from my "pile" will be picked and I'll end up trying to juggle three jrpg's.

You make a really good point. A shorter pick might have a better chance of getting finished by more people.
Like Suikoden 1 for example?

Or 2, rather?
1 is definitely shorter than 2. Plus we can just do 2 after :).
Earthbound is also fairly short (25-30 hours).
I'll make a decision about whether to have a Gaiden pick and, if so, what it is after the drawing is done. It'd be silly to pick the same game as the bingo cage.
My votes:
SMT Nocturne
Suikoden
Dark Cloud 2
Radiant Historia
Disgaea 1
