I couldn't find an existing thread...
Victor Vran is an action RPG, whose control scheme isn't the usual 'click on an enemy to attack'. I haven't bought it because I have a question about the game and maybe someone here has played it.
This is now $13+ at GreenManGaming with their 10% sale + voucher and am considering buying it. I do not like games like Diablo 3 and Torchlight. I think mainly because I find the control scheme unengaging. Clicking on enemies to attack just gets boring to me. Victor Vran sounds cool due to the dodging and jumping. This control scheme seems like it would be more 'actiony' and would keep me feeling like I have a more active role. Is this a fair assessment?
Also, I need to feel there is some challenge involved - either some type of reflex / hand eye coordination challenge or strategic / tactical challenge. I don't get into games for just being loot pinatas, but getting loot that gives new abilities or makes you rethink how to play is fun.
I think another thing that I don't like about Diablo games is that a bad build may just make you less efficient at killing things but doesn't necessarily make you die. I know that Diablo can be difficult, I'm not saying that it's always easy, but sometimes the penalty for playing poorly is just less efficiency.
Sorry for the fist Victor Vran post being more about Diablo 3, but I'm just trying to learn more about Victor Vran.
I still haven't dived into Diablo yet, but this does look cool - I hadn't heard of it all!
Picked this up yesterday and played for a few hours.. it really hits the Diablo/Torchlight experience with the comfort of a gamepad for control. Well worth the $20 I paid on Steam.
I like the jumping aspect and wall jumps as it adds a layer of "verticality" that is missing from your usual Diablo Clones.
I guess I should research how to make my Playstation controller work with my Mac...
I'm just about to pick this up. Is it an okay single player experience or should I hunt for some buddies to play with?
Also from some previous posts I guess this is better with a controller, shame my cat has chewed mine into pieces...
I'm stuck in that jam where I either have to wait for other peeps I know to get the game and then figure out a time to play with them, or being my usual impatient self and play single player.
My controller does still function it just has a tooth mark right on the edge which catches on my thumb constantly. Enough to drive you crazy!
Finished this last night at Level 33. There is definitely an imbalance of weapon choice.. once I discovered the Mortar with Vampirism it made every other weapon inferior... which definitely kills some of the replayability as there are no classes or real huge difference in playstyles. The only time I switched weapons was to switch to a hammer for its B power which was effective with large groups of enemies. All the special powers that worked best were around survival as well... the offensive ones seemed to ineffective to waste your power up on.
Still for $20 it was a good game that's well worth the initial playthrough.
Thanks, that's good to know. There are too many games on my to-play list anyway I wouldn't have time to replay, the first run of games is always the best (says the person who is on her 4th run of Dragon Age: Inquisition).
What a fun little gem. So underrated.
On sale now...for 5 euros here, probably $5 in U.S.
4 player coop.
Let's do that.
Sounds cool and can't go wrong at that price. I picked it up.
Glad to see all the love this is getting.
I'm here because Steam sale. Yay!
I have put in a bit under 2 hours so far. Although I'm enjoying it I already feel like I will lose momentum on it rapidly if I keep playing solo. Friend me up if you'd like to go Vrannin' together!
This really is a game that's great co-op. I played with Dr Awkward the entire way through. Some frustrating parts even with 2 of you but overall an amazing game.
I'm having a good time with this game so far. I'm about 2 hours in too.
Anyone up for a 2 pack? its showing for me at $98 pesos, thats $6 usd... so it will be $3 usd for each one... reply here or send PM ... if more then 1 reply we can get the 4 pack for $2.75 usd ... I think we are stealing here....
Ill join in.
This is an evil little game. The kind that will tempt you into a session when you had no intention of playing a game when you first sat down at the keyboard.
Still very early in the discovery phase of VV. I hit Level 10 and can say with some confidence that the Lightning Gun is my new favourite weapon.
Ill join in.
Bought the 2 pack and you have your part in your inventory, the details are via msg in Steam. Lets co-op some time.
EDIT:

Am I playing Victor Vran or Geralt? Sounds very similar.
Am I playing Victor Vran or Geralt? Sounds very similar.
I just fired up the game for the first time, and the first thing I hear (other than the music) is Geralt. I don't think I'm going to be able to unhear Geralt as I play this. I wish the actor would've changed his voice for this role at least a little bit.
Wow, they're really pushing up the ante on DLCs.
What the...
So I've been enjoying this recently. Feels very much like a low-key controller focus Diablo/Van Helsing.
I have ran into a pretty major bug, though. Whenever I exit the game, my PC is stuck on a black screen and there is no way of getting out of it. I have to restart my PC every time I leave the game. It seems to be tied to being in full-screen. My settings don't stick after I change them and deleting the file in the folder doesn't work either. It's a shame because I really like the game.
It's on PS4 and Xbox One now too, so if you feel like double dipping...
