Oh, that's sad to hear. I'm not a huge slash/gore horror fan, so his brand of humorous and, I guess, psychological horror was something I could get into.
I grew up watching the Elm Street movies at sleepovers with my friend, and then taking dates to the Scream movies. His work had a pretty profound effect on me. All these years later, I still get creeped out when Freddy pushes out through the wall in the original Nightmare. That messed with my head for a long, long time.
Right then....time to dust of the old Nightmare on Elm street boxed set collection and have a bit of a Freddy marathon I think.
Yep, those and the Scream Collection are the only sets of horror movies I own. I mean I've seen all the Friday the 13th, Halloween, Hellraiser, Exorcist, etc. Lots of the classics. But the ones I bought and rewatch are Wes Craven's.
Had no idea he was ill. Just reading about a Nightmare on Elm Street reboot the other day. I grew up with those movies and later on the Scream movies.

I just barely watched the original Nightmare for the first time earlier this month. Too bad.

I have many fond memories due to Nightmare on Elm Street. Sad to hear Wes Craven is gone.

Ouch.
NOTE: Not a doodle bug.
This hurts my wife more than it does me, but even I recognise the impact he had had on horror movies. Also, f*ck cancer.
You bastard, Tanglebones. :)

I'm more of a Clive Barker-David Cronenberg-John Carpenter fan but can appreciate Craven's contributions. Sad to see him go.
