World of Warcraft: Legion (7.3.5 edition)

Finally got that Antoran charhound mount from the argus doggos over the weekend. during a LFR run for tier gear on about alt#6 (Demon hunter)

another 'thing' ticked off, leaves me with.
- Finish up DH and warlock campaigns and class mounts (easy enough)
- Level up mage to 110 for heritage armor (bout 84 at present so totally doable)
- finish LFR tier sets for remaining alts (DK and DH nearly done. Just warlock left really)

And then there is the mage tower.. all 3 are done on main (hunter)
Shaman 2x DPS specs done, healing to go (proving hard as I am fairly new to healing, my natural instincts are always to throw DPS at things lol)
Druid - would like feral and bear forms, but not really started yet. messed with feral a little. dont really care about balance and resto
Monk - eeeeh if time permits might have a go at some of 'em. looking unlikely though

Thinking it might be wise to draw a line in the sand say a month out from 8.0 hitting live servers, I'm guessing that will happen early/mid july to have a break. Maybe just do the mage tower when its up. Everything else is doable into BfA anyway

for a bloke who thought he was finished with the game permanently in WoD (didnt even hit 100 with a single character until resubbing just before legion hit) I'll finish up with a heroic raid geared hunter, normal raid geared shaman and at least 4 other 110 alts sitting at around 930 I level.

They get those goddamn hooks in...

Legion will go down as one of the best expansions. I am sorry I missed out on it a year and a half ago.
7.3.5 is/was a game changer too. I am sure the surge in sub numbers will make it an easy decision to continue developing scaling content. (My 2013 and earlier self would be laughing at me right now re: level scaling)

Yeh I agree. It's right up there. Not perfect - the legendary system was problematic (basically RNGing major talents) and the AP grinding early on made playing alts or even other specs prohibitive, but overall it was good.

Lots of generally good content (some of the broken isles content was a bit.. lazy), well paced and a lot of the rougher edges got smoothed out over the course of the expansion.

Question for you guys...can tokens for legacy dungeons/raids (like Throne of Thunder for instance) be exchanged? So just now I received Gauntlets of the Crackling Protector which is for mail/plate wearers. Is there a vendor where I can exchange this for the cloth/leather version?

I'm kind of addicted to transmogs...

Nope. You gotta try again next week I'm afraid.

If you want plate gear, come back with your priest or 'lock.

I solo'd most of Blackrock Foundry and got most of the Living Wood set for my druid. Probably my favorite set so far.

Well looks like I'm hooked again and it's all your guys fault. Somehow. I haven't quite figured that out yet Rolling on Blackhand as I had some old characters there (And 75k gold). I have no idea if we have a guild, if it's still together, or if I can even join it based on being on Blackhand.

Gurrth is my Undead Warlock. He's 27 right now and moving up the ranks. Fun times! They really did add a lot to the game that makes it enjoyable. Current mods are Ark Inventory, ElvUI, and SellJunk. It's amazing to me that I have not needed anything else yet. I'll probably need more at max level but for now I'm good.

Yup this game fully has its teeth in me, have basically been playing nothing else the past 2 months. Legion is such a great xpac, so much stuff to do. Now I’m working towards unlocking flying, it’s cool having world quests, feels sort of like GW2 in that respect. Have just touched Argus, will dive headlong into that once I have finished grinding my Broken Isle reps.

Oh, and then there’s that whole Mage Tower thing that I have to get around to building.....

And then I need to go back and unlock Draenor flying.

I have a lot to do before Aug 14.

The GWJ-Alliance guild is alive and well. Hit me up in game - I'm usually on my main Jorrn, and I'm in game most nights after 8 pm EDT (7 pm server time) for a couple of hours and on weekend mornings.

For anyone else who put in a guild application through the in-game system ... that's fine and all, but we both have to be on at the same time to arrange the guild invite!

And welcome back, DeT. If you hustle, you should be able to hit 110 on your babylock long before the new expansion drops.

Is there a Horde side guild on Blackhand? I thought it was only Alliance.

I joined a re-roll guild on Zuljinn, was great to have others to level with. I do have I think a 106 Mage on Blackhand, I should break him out again.

Got back in a few days ago too. Took my Nightborne from 80 to 103, so I can at least see the end now. Just waiting for invasions from now on.

Well go figure. I start a Horde character (All of my other chars are Horde and I grabbed lots of stuff from them) and our ALLIANCE guild is doing great. Jeez

For a low low price of $30, you too can pledge to the Alliance!

Or you could make a new character and catch up to where you are in about 3 hours. =)

Or do the right thing and fight for the horde!

Is there a GWJ Horde guild?

I have a 110 DH who makes me money through his hall quests, I would lose that too. I have around 72k gold on my character. I don't think I could make that in 3 hours, but if I could, please share how!

I'll be sticking with Horde. Whether or not it's with the GWJ guild I don't know. From what I've heard, it's pretty low key. That may change once the expansion comes out though.

I tried to do this a couple months ago, but wow is Draenor a bit incomprehensible when you jump back in without context. I found it really challenging to get my bearings and understand the ideal path towards getting it done, and ultimately bailed on the effort.

I wouldn't say that GWJ-Alliance is doing great. I'd characterize it as "alive." Most nights, it's me and maaaaaaybe 1-2 others. We're not raiding, as most of the raiders (including former GM Carganthen aka Keldar) have drifted away to other guilds over the years. I expect things will pick up in August.

There was a GWJ Horde guild on Blackhand, but it looks like it picked up and moved over to the Baelgun server. I don't know any of the particulars.

The former GWJ Horde GM seems to have stayed behind on Blackhand (Horde side). Looks like he has a guild strictly for his own toons.

For you Hordies on Blackhand, I'd suggest making your own guild. It's easy!

Not sure that’s an accurate description in 7.3.5. Leveling from 1-60 was a breeze but 60-80 took me close to 25 hours and was a total slog. I know that doesn’t seem like that many hours but when I have an hour or less to play a day it felt like it took forever.

At least Pandaria feels like a breath of fresh air.

Yes but its pretty dead. I removed my character from the guild at least a month ago because it seemed like I was the only one logging in.

Hmm, I guess I can guild hunt and see what's out there. Looks like us goodjers are a bit spread out.

As for folks on the other server there's only 2-3 people on that roster that seem to be from here. Probably someone trying start it up on their own.

The biggest chunk of us on the horde side that played merged with another guild years ago. Still no one is super active right now. Rarely is once endgame raiding content was on farm mode. There's a handful of folks that log in daily. These days it's primarily for the beta and LFR.

I'd offer any Horde-side folks a home with my guild over on Medivh, but I'm not sure how active we'll be before the expansion drops. Raiding trickled off about a month ago. I haven't been on myself to know how active folks are with alts and stuff.

Actually dethroned said he was level 27 so I meant he could get to 27 fast. Yeah, 110 will take a lot longer having just done it from scratch on a new server.

So there are basically no guilds recruiting at this point. No need to really, I joined during the big slump of 2018. I'd like to find a guild where I could just socialize and hang out, I'll have to do some digging. The realm forum for Blackhand didn't have much going on either but since I was at work when I checked I didn't have the time to post something up. Maybe I will find someone to take me in until raiding picks up with the new expansion.

DeThroned, I will tell you that I switched back to Alliance because Horde is not much on socializing. I'm being serious too, they just don't socialize as much. So now I'm back to my original character which is a dwarf hunter on Blackhand, Sydhart. This was my very first character from day 1 and I didn't realize how I missed him.

Any tips for completing the guardian druid mage tower challenge? I have macros set to interrupt drain life via skull bash and to target the eyes with moonfire, but I can't seem to stop dying from what seems like random damage. The RNG of this encounter is driving me nuts.

It's been a long time since I did it, but the basics are:

You should have an Ecowraith or Luffa's equipped. Second legendary should either be Lady and the Child or Elize. Spec for balance secondary and Incarn.

Make sure you're flasked and have food, prepot. Get into position just outside of the bubble and incarn. Thrash until incarn is done, stopping only to interrupt(then run out of the bubble), or moonfire eyes.

Watch the infernals, they will do a punt if they get close, so kite around the circle and moonfire/thrash.

P2: Interrupt the heal and nothing else, pop your second potion and drums, and go to town.

Note: If you find Incarnation isn't back up for Kruul (phase 2), then you might want to just go without it for Phase 1. More things can kill you in Phase 1, but it's much easier to find a comfort zone in that phase too. By comparison, Phase 2 has fewer things that can end the run, but it's a race against Kruul's ever increasing damage (and your dwindling cooldowns).

Also, for Phase 1, when you go in to interrupt, get a mangle and maul in before you head back out. They both hit decently hard and help drop some damage.)

If you're getting stuck in Phase 1, I would NOT recommend Prydaz for it unless you're staying out of Variss's bad zone 100% of the time. (Prydaz's shield is based on total health at the time of each new bubble "proc"... and Variss's debuff reduces that total health, so if the new bubble procs when you are at like 50% of your normal health... then your shield is half as effective as normal.)

Also also also, the movement speed food is SUPER handy for this challenge. As is a focus macro for your interrupt and another macro that you can hit on Kruul when he comes down to set him as your focus. If you are needing to taunt something, moonfire an eye, whatever when the interrupt goes off, you don't want to accidentally interrupt it instead.
