World of Warcraft: Legion (7.3.5 edition)

Hmm if there's an active GWJ guild i wouldn't mind rolling one of my new allied race possibilities on that server.

There is a GWJ guild (called GWJ Alliance) on the Blackhand server. Ping me in game if you'd like an invite.

So you know, the guild is active in the sense it exists. We're not raiding, and we're barely social, but it's a fine place to be and make some connections if you're so inclined.

If you're looking for an honest-to-god raiding guild and you're geared and ready, some long-time GWJ guild members are raiding in the Rapture guild, also on Blackhand. They're good folks. I can put you in touch.

Kirin Tor Event is up for those like me struggling with repping up Argussian Reach and Army of Light.
I thought I saw on some forums that the rep token was supposed to be bind on account. Sadly, unless it is a typo, the tokens are soulbound

I had left my highest level 49 hunter untouched when I came back to WoW a several weeks ago. Not that I didn't play hunters. It is by far my most alted class where I have started at least 1 of every race and some races 2-3. So now that I have full sets of lvl 90 heirlooms for nearly all occasions, I gave my 49 a spin. Holy cow do they hold up really well in the 50's!

And I just absolutely love the survival hunter! Flanking strike + lacerate + crows + cleave + triple axe toss = WIN. I know things obviously change in the 60's and beyond but my 69 DK has been much more difficult to play effectively throughout the 60's. My hunter's rotation is lacerate, flank, done. Or crows, triple axe, and maybe a raptor strike, done.

I often fight multiples with adds on top and just lacerate them all, flank when off cool down and cleave when I have energy. The only weakness is energy drain. I know things will get harder but they would really have to drop off a cliff and then they'd just become ordinary fun.

Rep tokens are BOA once you're exalted with that faction.

DMF is back in town Sunday. Ride the carousel and get a +10 percent rep buff. And FFS save your soulbound (and BOA) tokens until then.

Glad you're enjoying your Surv hunter. I played one back in the day when it was the go-to PvP spec. All those traps and things were was fun! But I've got a rogue and an enhance shaman in heavy rotation right now and don't see the point of rolling a third spec class that does basically the same thing as the other two. (I went BM on my hunter in Legion; no self-respecting dwarf would ever use that MM bow.)

Does the added damage proc stack for flame weapon and frost weapon (and any of the other weapons)? The enhancement shaman seems a little flimsy pre level 50 (or whenever you get lightning shield because that looks like a game changer!) I can kill things pretty good but I feel like I actually need to use me heal(s) every other fight.

I definitely agree that it would seem dull to play another melee dps spec. I do have to wonder does the pet utility make a major/minor difference?

Oh I found a legendary yesterday but unfortunately I was in the assassination spec instead of my preferred subtlety spec. So I know have a bracer that makes my poisons do 30% more damage to enemies under 35% health. I think I looted it from a chest on Macree. Still kinda neat to have a item level 1000 piece

Eh, I don't know about procs. I don't care enough about my shaman to find out. Maybe?

But, yeah, enhance felt a little flimsy while I was leveling until I got to about i880. The insta-heal helps a lot. (The alchemy bonus helps, too.) DPS seems pretty good - things die quickly in packs, which is my yardstick.

Don't take lightning shield. Always take the haste bonus.

Grats on the leggo. Unless you're min/maxing, take the stat bonus and wait for something better to drop. Or go assass. Everyone who ganks me when I'm playing my PvP server toons is specc'd into assass.

Most rep tokens are BOA once you're exalted... except the Kirin Tor Emissary ones, weirdly.

I was under the impression that assassin was the best raid spec currently. Personally i like subtlety for pvp.

I like all 3 rogue specs for what they offer. The reason I play subtlety is:
Shadowstrike is awesome and a strong generator
Shadow Dance means 15% health heal and more Shadowstrikes
The talent that heals you during stealth is too valuable to give up (it should be a cross spec talent)
I feel a lot less energy starved than outlaw and assassination
The aoe skill is a terrific combo point generator in packs

Sub was definitely the most fun of the Rogue artifact challenges too. Though, it wasn't much of a competition. :X Assassination's is just boring and Leeching Poison basically trivializes the unavoidable damage... and Outlaw felt more like "Do you know what Marked for Death is? Do you know how to use it? Free win!" especially when you stack the Broken Isles consumables that work there (but don't work for literally any of the other locations' challenges).

My new void elf is a rogue, my first time really putting any time into the class since probably '05 or '06. I'm really enjoying leveling as subtlety, mainly for the having a big attack right out of stealth.

Sub has always been the PvP spec, and my rogue is on a PvP server so.

Still, though, the rogues who are stabbing the hell out of my rogue and my priest are all assass for some reason. One minute I'm standing there like a dope, the next I'm bleeding out.

Disc priest, meanwhile, feels a lot better than did in Draenor. It sucks (or, rather, I suck) at saving a group that's at half health and fading fast. But it's pretty good at keeping damage away in the first place. (Yay, shield!) I really like the hybrid-ness of it -- the idea that I can (should) heal *and* do damage. It's a little like holy pal in that way, which might be why I'm liking it so much.

Going back to vanilla I've put 95% of my time on a resto druid but with the disc changes in Legion, I've pretty much forgotten about the druid. Being able to pvp and quest (efficiently) as a healer is awesome. And once your ilevel starts to increase world pvp starts to get really, really fun.

I really love penance and shadowmend(?) - and I have always loved power word:shield. (in fact, I love the protection warrior's derivative, ignore pain, even more)

Seething Shore is a nice change of pace compared to the other BGs. The randomness of the node spawns helps keep combat fluid. Much better than constantly targeting an EFC or a flag in AB.

Yeah, penance is one of my 3-5 favorite spells in the game. (Paladin's Judgment is No. 1 forever and always.)

I was surprised at how well Disc does on world quests - things die pretty quickly, and I can more or less chain pull without taking much damage. I've only taken one toon out to Argus so far (everyone else gets to hang out in New Dalaran), but I'm curious to see how my Disc priest does at i920 or so.

Which event is that and can you also choose Nightfallen rep?

It is the world quest cache quest, complete 3 world quests in random zones of Kirin Tor, and yes you can get Nightfallen token for 750 rep as a turn-in choice when you get your cache.

Also can get Arg Reach or Army of light 750 tokens if you choose those instead.

Thanks Medmey

Yah, It is a cache quest where you complete 3 puzzle oriented WQ's for Kirin Tor and the reward is a rep token for any of the Legion factions including AR, AoL, High Mountain and Nightfallen among others.
I am not trying real hard to earn other faction rep but I figure Blizzard plans to make as many of them Allied races as they can so, it is way cool.

Once again the roster boss is kicking our butts. We were able to get Mythic Garothi Worldbreaker down in something like 10-15 attempts once we actually had enough people (including a couple of pugs) to start Mythic, then had a grand total of 13 people show up to the next raid night. Blergh.

I got exalted with Nightborne and now see that I have to raid in order to keep unlocking the new race. How ridiculous that as a mostly solo player, I am forced to join a raid to continue a quest chain. I haven't raided in years and have no desire to join one but yet, here we are.

To unlock the race, you just need to get exalted. The quest should then unlock in Ogrimmar.

You also need one of the suromar story-line achieves, which involves a trip several dungeons and i think one of the raids. should be doable on LFR though.

Yeah which apparently includes the raid

A Gul'Dan's not required for Insurrection, unless something's changed.

The eye of amon'thul(post Gul'Dan, don't leave LFR until you get that done) post quest is only required for the titan relics quest achievement.

This is the one I was referring to: The Emerald Nightmare: The Stuff of Dreams: Collect Purified Life Essence from the Emerald Dream, hidden inside the Emerald Nightmare Raid. This requires you to kill Xavius and loot the Purified Life Essence.

Though I hope you are right with no raids

Is there a trip into Emerald Nightmare in there?

Edit: answered before i asked

Yes in order to get the required achievement "Good Suramaritan" you need to do the Emerald Nightmare boss Xavius and collect the pure life essence like mentioned above. It is not hard at all to queue for with the Raid Finder. Once you've killed the boss, look around for the purified essence. Don't leave the Raid without it.
Those are the 2 things you need for nightborne: Good Suramaritan and Exalted rep with nightfallen.
Once you have completed those you will be given the short nightborne intro quest that brings them into the Horde. (and unlocks the nightborne race account wide)

Does anyone else get a strong Romulan/Vulcan vibe from the Nightborne?

Thanks and yes I do as well, nice catch on similarities! That arrogant vibe going on there.

As someone who was loathe to (and afraid to) raid a month or two ago, I can say with confidence that most LFR stuff is pretty fun and easy. My only bad experience has been Antorus.
