Rowdy Roddy Piper dead at 61.

The pipes, the pipes are calling him. Hell of a nice guy, he was way too young to go. I'd just listened to him on the Sklarbro Country podcast, he sounded fine. So sad.

Another one of the big wrestling stars from my childhood gone too soon.

This hits me worse than Dusty Rhodes' passing just a few months ago.

One of my all time favorite characters in Pro Wrestling, he walked that fine line of funny wise-cracker whom you never will know what insult or put down will come flying out of his mouth, and the psychopath determined to destroy an opponent by any means without care or concern of his own well-being.

Like him or hate him (his character) you never not pay attention to him due to his natural charisma.

There is a current wrestler who plays a lighter version of Rowdy Piper called Dean Ambrose and he's a favorite of mine as well. While he should work towards being his own person, it would be nice if he added some callbacks to Piper, whom is sure to have been a large influence of his work.

I was also a fan of his wrestling character when I was into that stuff back in the 80s, but I'll mostly remember him for his lead role in They Live, which is one of my favorite movies.

"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey is dedicating her fight tomorrow night to The Rowdy one.

If you're interested, in the Sklar Brothers very recent podcast #259 he talked about Ronda Rousey's dedication of her name to him. He did a lot of work for charity too, God bless him.

I was aware of the characters involved in wrestling at the time, but never watch them.

I mostly know him from They Live and as the villian in Hulk Hogan's cartoon. Still he was an icon of the 80's to me.

San to hear of his passing.
