Firaxicon 2015

Any GWJer's going?

Going to be there with my girlfriend.

Tickets here.

Didn't even know this was a thing. Baltimore's not too far, so I might be willing to swing by.

I'll be there.

I'll be there. I suggest we label ourselves with "GWJ" somehow. Nametag, T-shirt, whatever. For easy predation recognition.

Hmmmmm. I went last year, and had a good time (though I did end up deciding after a marathon Beyond Earth session that I didn't want to buy the game). It's also way easier to get to Baltimore than the previous venue. Thanks for the heads-up, I hadn't even heard about their plans for this year!

Okay, so Firaxicon is 3 weekends away! I'd like to get an idea of who is coming, arrange for recognition signals if desired, and maybe a post-con bevvie or meal or something.

Who's in? I know we have Tkyl, myself, one of my non-GWJ friends and his son, and Balthezor and crew, of course... Who else is going?

Okay, well, if you're going, put GWJ on your badge, or wear something distinctively Stan, and maybe we can go get something to eat or drink, or just hang out.

I wish I could make it, maybe next year if they do it again.

Well, today is the day. I'll be working the board gaming room most of the day. So stop by and say "hi". Ask for Scott.

Well, I got to see Tkyl again (we should have more gaming S&Ts, I think, he was bouncing from game to game all day, cheery to the last) and the con itself was relaxing and fun. Lots of interesting panel discussions and Q&As about past and future games, tons of Firaxis employees to talk to in the hallways and rooms, and cool things to see and do. They had a room with 30 or so pcs running Beyond Earth: Rising Tide, and a board game room stocked with a large number of very good table games and employees to teach/play all of them. (Both of those rooms were pretty busy all day.) There was also a museum, and a store with lots of shirts and shot glasses and custom keyboards.

A very good time was had by all.

I should have checked this thread before today and would have found Tykl. Tried to keep my eye open for GWJ people, but there was a lot of people.

Anyways, I had an absolute blast. Great panels, spent way too much money at the store, and had a great time getting my stuff signed. Had a funny picture with Jake Solomon, the guy is hilarious. Also I thought XCOM 2 would be playable...

My significant other who is a non gamer had fun as well. She found the panels very interesting.

Anyways, was Rob Zacny or Pyroman there? I swear a guy asked a question and sounded like one of them.

I dunno. I was wandering around in a black "All my vices are devices" shirt, but I was unwilling to just introduce myself to each couple in the crowd...

I checked in with Scott several times, but no one else identified themselves. Sigh. Still had a great time.
