Is there a good website for finding builds?

If you're not averse to Discord, there are a lot of builds pinned to the various class-specific channels in the official Discord server.

I got this and I'm going to give it a whirl. I'm Homard100 on the cabal application

Gotcha, welcome!

Thought I’d fire this up yesterday on a whim, ended up playing for five hours with a shotgun assassin. Pretty fun! Sent a cabal application as well.

One complaint I had was I kept getting pulled into cover when I didn’t want to. Anyone know how to stop that?

Welcome to the Cabal! So glad to hear you're enjoying the game!

As for cover, I think there's a setting to make that a thing where you have to hold it down rather than a toggle, at least if you're playing on a mouse and keyboard?

I'm a gamepad guy so I've no idea.

Yeah there's some setting for one tap cover or something on PC. I thought I remembered having to press a button but maybe I changed an option before I started

Okay yes, in gameplay options, there's a "single keypress to cover mode" I believe it's called. Maybe turning that off would help?

Are you also smashing the spacebar for some reason?

I’m playing on controller, so no spacebar smashing. I also had a mission where some controller inputs just stopped working on multiple buttons. The controller is wired, so it shouldn’t be any wireless or dead battery issues. After finishing that mission, everything worked fine again.

I’ll look into that setting in the options, at least.

Ohhh, okay, there's a setting in the controller options too to make it a toggle type thing. Also I've found the dodger gamepad config is best, for me anyway. Which one are you using?

Whatever the default one is. I didn’t experiment with different controller layouts.

There's cover? I'm level 48 and never used it once...

There’s tons of environmental objects with yellow highlights when you get near indicating you can take cover behind them. On controller it also shows a button prompt, so it’s hard to miss. Cover is destructible, and it can obscure your sight lines, so after messing around with it a few times, I started ignoring it.

Yeah cover was a much bigger deal pre-2.0, but now it's pretty useless except sometimes some equipment has buffs when behind cover.

I now have the ability to salvage and craft items. Should I focus on salvaging stuff instead of selling it now?

Also, it looks like I can now start the Chaos Undivided story. Is there any particularly good time to do that?

Salvage everything up to orange that you don't want, sell orange and beyond.

You can do the stories in any order you wish, you don't have to stick with one or the other.

Thanks for the tip on the Dodger controller layout. That feels a lot better. I also changed the cover setting and no longer have any problems getting stuck in cover.

I finished chapter 3 of the main story, and decided to start that first DLC side story that opened up earlier. So far it's more of the same, in a different setting, so I'm having a good time with it. The loop of doing a mission, leveling up, sorting/salvaging through your gear, and doing another mission is addictive. The story is the typical enjoyably ridiculous cartoon storytelling i've encountered in other 40k games.

I went all in on the critical hit skill tree, spread a few points around ranged damage, health/suppression, and movement speed, and now I'm dumping everything into the AOE skill tree. While I don't love that your abilities only seem tied to the weapon you're using (i think i just prefer getting new abilities as you level up), the passive skill tree provides a lot of interesting decisions, and I'm usually agonizing over where to put my one or two points each level. I'm around level 40 now.

Damn, sounds like you're having a great run. And yeah, I too love the loop of doing a mission, loot/level, doing another. It's great for small bites or long sessions.

I finished the main campaign. After mixing some DLC missions and priority assignments in, I ended it at level 58. Now I'm debating if I want to start the Prophecy expansion with a new Tech-Adept, or continue with my Assassin. There are a ton of other DLC and side missions to do, and I suppose now I'm at the point where I could/should start doing Void Crusades, right? The XP for story missions at this point is very little compared to what I need to level up, so arguably it isn't worth it to do those on this character. I'll probably just cruise through some more missions before making up my mind.

Yeah Void Crusades are the big thing now. They're a lot of fun, but use a guide to avoid frustration.

For the rest, the beauty of the game is you can do it however you want. Roll a new TA and do Prophecy, or keep going with your assassin. Or both.

Can I have back into the Cabal? Thaaaaaankss

Is your name the same over there?

Yup should be! I didn’t actually send a request until an hour or so ago, sorry. No rush!

I just got home so I'll check in a bit.

I started off with the Dominion Battle Sister in the current season and it seemed fine. Then I played around with an Eviscerator and fell in love. Don’t think I’ve ever made a satisfying melee build so I’m going to try with my Seraphim sister.

Hey is there a Ranakyn here? They've applied to the cabal.

And that's the Prophecy campaign finished! I enjoyed the slightly higher production values in the story telling and the new environments for missions.

If I could do it again, I would likely have started Prophecy much sooner. You start getting access to higher level blueprints, as well as new vendors who you can rep up and get better gear from. It's not a huge deal, but I probably would have gotten some better gear upgrades faster than what I've been getting.

That's all the story content wrapped up, so I'll probably try one of these Void Crusades out and see what the fuss is about there. I've done a few random starmap missions with the Tarot card modifiers, and the rewards are quite good, as well as the challenge. If there were an achievement for getting to max level I'd be tempted to grind to 100, but since there's not I'll probably just do one of these Crusades and call it done until the itch returns.

You'd probably guess that many don't...and you would be right.
