Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr (Catch All)

So exciting!

@Veloxi: a return of Inquisitor Martyr to your stream perhaps?

We'll see, I've got SUCH a backlog of space games I need to get caught up on after taking a months-long break to dabble in classic flight sims.

Okay so I've dabbled a bit with all three sub-classes, and so far Sister Celestian (which starts with a hand flamer and brazier) to me is the most fun because from jump she just melts sh*t and makes them go sploosh. VERY fun.

Fine, if there are sisters of battle I will buy it.

Why did it want me to re-install Martyr, then refuse to let me sign up with an account? Then the content was in Inquisitor? Totally confused. Can I uninstall Martyr like I did before?

It took me a few tries to make an account/sign in. I assume the servers are getting hit hard.

Well but the Sororitas choice is now in Inquisitor? I think I can just delete Martyr again, like before, and just run Inquisitor. It's got all the Martyr bits, right?

There's Inquisitor - Martyr and Inquisitor - Prophecy. Martyr is the one you want to install.

The loot I got is not showing up so I assume they have a server issues.

I will try again later.

Do I have to leave Martyr installed to get Sororitas in Inquisitor? I guess that's the bottom line. I didn't have to do that for the earlier ones.

Um, Martyr is the base game. You have to install that to play anything.

I had to move off the public test beta to get the DLC to install.

You have to install it, yes, but after that, in the past, I uninstalled it, and everything worked fine in Prophecy except for the Martyr achievements. And maybe the Martyr quests, although I didn't know that until now.

But anyway, that's why I asked.

It's a little weird. Martyr is the base game. Prophecy is a "stand-alone" expansion that added the tech-adept class and completed the main campaign. All of the content is available in either, and they share many of the same assets. I think if you install both, it only adds about 1GB.

If you care about achievements, they are specific to each client. All of the tech-adept related achievements as well as the ones for the second half of the campain are in Prophecy. The Sororitas achievements (and all the other achievements) are in Martyr. I actually just started up Prophecy yesterday to get the last achievement I was missing, because you get it from the tech-adept tutorial missions.

I think the only other difference between the two is co-op. There are some assets that are exclusive to one or the other, and you can't mix Martyr and Prophecy players on those maps.

I don't know what the community at large recommends, but my recommendation is to play Martyr, with a couple of exceptions if you care about achievements: 1 - If you're going to play through the campaign as a tech-adept, do it in Prophecy, and don't skip the tutorial (it may not be skippable the first time anyways - it's a different tutorial story, and it provides a different perspective to the other class tutorials). 2 - If you're playing something other than tech-adept, start off in Martyr (campaign chapters 1-5), and switch to Prophecy when you get to the second half of the campaign.

Can you coop this game? Been looking for something to play with my son and two other friends.

Oh yeah totally. You'll be on the host's level, FYI.

Totally confusing. But thanks, Deftly!

Can't wait to roll a new fire sister!

The new season has begun! Welcome to season six, the Season of Escalation! Two big new things in this season are the option to skip the campaign entirely and favoriting items in your inventory so they can't be sold accidentally. This includes all the usual new fun seasonal stuff like escalating enchantments! Read more here!

Per Neocore, sounds like console version of Sororitas is targeted for Q1 2023, but that they are trying for that, no promises.

You all have fun!

Ohh hopefully early Q1.

Oooh this is tempting. I was thinking of restarting with a new Inquisitor but didn't really feel the impetus to go through the campaign again. Popping in with a new class is intriguing.

My god, the Sister's hand flamer and rod might be my new favorite weapon now that I'm learning how to use it. Rather than direct fire, you aim it at a group in general and let the splash damage do the rest. So joyous to watch.

I love my flamethrower with 6(!) gem insets. Monsters now run away from me. So much fun.

I dig the flamethrower but it's too short range for my liking. They have to get, like, close to me. Ew.

I've been trying out various weapons and act of faith combos, but it took me a while to finally find something I liked. I like many of the weapon abilities, but I have some muscle memory from the other classes for which buttons correspond to which types of attacks (AOE, dash, etc.) and something felt off for many of the weapons. Embodied Saint form was the same way. Now that I've unlocked more abilities, I've been able to arrange them in ways that feel more natural.

Right now I'm using the Blessed Blade & Rod. The basic attack is an AOE, and the secondary is a dash. Both attacks add a bleed and vulnerability to the target, which is nice. The other two slots are open for Acts of Faith. The first one I have slotted is Wrath of the Penitent, which adds Berserk tokens on activation, but it also has a passive that increases bleed damage by 50%, which works well with the weapon. The second ability is Expurgation Sweep, which is a small AOE pull.

I've only unlocked the first two banners so far, and I'm using the healing one at the moment. I'm using the Seraphim Armor for the jump ability, because the extra mobility is useful when you're melee. I just wish it wasn't limited to the three charges.

I still have two more Saintly Deeds to unlock. My ability choices right now are mainly to line up with my standard abilities, so I can just keep going by muscle memory when changing forms. Secondary attack is Righteous Judgement (dash). The third and fourth are Arc of Vengeance and Catechism of Fire. Catechism is also an AOE pull, then I throw the Arc through the stack of enemies.

Yeah the blessed blade looked really fun if you like melee.

OMG a friend told me to put the hand flamer and brazier into set 2 and it's LOVELY. Flamer and rod does the long-range splash damage, and if anything gets through to get closer, the brazier brings the more direct fire damage. IT'S DELIGHTFUL.

Thats when you bring out set 2 and shoot them with plasma and melt their (on fire) faces.
