Rocket League Catch All

Question for you all. Does anyone do any trading in here? If that's frowned upon just let me know. I'm interested in getting a specific goal explosion but have no interest in gambling with crates.

Possibly someone here has the goal explosion you want however there is not a huge amount of people regularly posting here so chances are no one has one to trade. It doesn’t hurt to ask.

I have done a lot of trading in RL. These days I do it using this site:
https://rocket-league.com/trading

Thanks for confirming if it was cool or not.

I'm looking for the Shattered Goal explosion. If anyone has it and is interested in trading. I have quite a few crates I have no interest in opening.

I'm going to check the site as well.

Thanks, pandasuit

Got my diamond rewards Wed night. Still suck in d2. I don't feel any closer to champ than last season.

Considering retiring from ranked for a bit. It's just not fun anymore, seeing no progress for almost 3 seasons.

that whole short memory thing... yep I need to work on that.

You’re done having to win at your rank for your rewards so now you can pick a different mode you don’t normally play and learn that for the rest of the season without any pressure to rank up. Go play hockey or hoops or solo duel or something that will push you to learn new skills and ways to play without any risk to your rank in standard.

You’ll have to accept that your rank on the new mode won’t match your usual rank in modes you normally play but if you just play it without worrying about rank and focus instead on learning the mode and mechanics you’ll improve a lot in ways that will help you when you come back to standard.

I’ve been doing this for a few seasons and it has really helped me get over previous stumbling in my core ranked modes and when I finally came back to standard and doubles I was a way better player than when I stopped playing them. Along the way I discovered that I love the hockey mode and am actually pretty good at it and it helped me get better at wall defense and safe 50s and ceiling shots. I learned I suck at hoops but it is a great way to get better at wall defense and controlled touches (aerial and otherwise). Dropshot is a great way to focus on aerial speed and wall reads and upside down aerials.

If you want to give another mode a try and you want a bit of help learning it let me know. I’m usually up for messing around in a different mode for a bit and I’ve got some videos and so on that touch on the core mechanics you need to focus on for each mode.

Did our second RLRS qualifier attempt today. This time I got to play. Got a by on our first series. Lost the second series and dropped to losers bracket. Won the third series to stay alive. Lost the fourth series and we're out. Some good play all around but some defensive mistakes lost us too many games.

I'm up to try again next RLRS or do other tournaments. It's kinda fun going in as a team even when we know we are going up against better teams.

Nice dude, you gotta start somewhere. Now choose your tag before you get Fairy Princessed!

I like this drill video from Musty and have been playing around with some of them.

I'd love to see stuff like this get added to the game. I know they have the training packs, but I think Psyonix can do more. Add things like pylons to dribble around, have ghost cars to show positions, rotation drills etc. Make it multi player. Give people experience for it, add some kind of unique incentive to make practice more fun.

What do you guys think?

Maybe they'll do more training packs when the game fully moves over to the Epic Games Store, as it's not likely they can take over everything since it's all Steamworks stuff?

Yeah, I dunno. I'm not thinking training packs. I'm thinking more game-ified drills and tutorials to help teach and train. Like the FIFA games have mini games for dribbling, shooting etc.

I agree. I would love to see more tutorials on beginning and advanced skills. Things like dribbling, rotation, fast aerials, kickoffs, etc. I think if this was something that was professionally done and included in the game it would get used more than someone having to comb through the workshop or custom training.

Currently the best source of tutorials and drills is YouTube because most of them need good explanation and the tools in game can’t do that well yet. Many of those videos use training packs, freeplay, or workshop but the explanation video is a must.

You can open YouTube inside the Steam overlay browser and flip between the video and your game if you don’t have a second monitor or tablet to watch them on while you are in game.

Yeah thanks Panda. Tons of great content out there, but I and I think other people, would be more likely to run through tutorials that were professionally done in the game. tie some XP and loot to that and you have a great carrot to get more people learning the game.

On another note, choose your tag man!

I agree in game would be way better. I would love to see game modes designed around skill practice. I kinda do it myself now by forcing myself to use only particular skills in a match or by playing modes that force me to learn particular things but it’s nowhere near as good as what you guys are proposing. I wonder if you could get halfway there with bakkesmod plugins and a group of like minded people. Puts all the work on you tho...

What are some specific examples you think would make a good mode that people would play enough to justify the effort to build it?

Good question. I'd take some stuff right from that Musty video. Track how long you can keep the ball on your car. Set up three stationary cars that you need to dribble through, weaving around them. A bar with increasing heights to flick over. You could take a ton of ideas from content that is out there and doable with mods. Set XP goals that reward unique loot. Have a friends scoreboard so you can see other stats and encourage score chasing. Make it multiplayer, have passing training, redirect training.

After I posted this I came across this on reddit:

Goalie walls are in bakkesmod now I think. But this kind of production value directly accessible in the game.

Leaderboards would help. They could have rocket pass challenges tied to those modes to motivate you to at least try them. They would need some version of those that are a lot easier for most players for sure but like the other in game training that just means having different levels of the training modes.

I'd love it if workshop maps like the "dribble challenge" or "speed jump no boost" were in game modes on all platforms.

A slalom aerial mode where you have to weave between pillars and can't air roll would be good. It would have to start you facing specific directions and detect when you break the rules or veer off the path too much. Likely just a narrow corridor with turns, have air roll disabled, and if you hit a wall you fail.

Saw a video a while back of people who programme the bots as well, one in particular they did were super aggressive bots that try to demo you at all points. Could be a good idea to have one of these after you while trying to make a save or score a goal.

FIFA also has bins and nets as well in their drills, these would be useful to practice passing.

There's new drops you can if you have twitch prime.

Slowly starting to get the hang of air control a bit more, finding training is definitely helping with it, although I think I could be doing more. One particular weakness I have is taking off from the wall and hitting the ball. Playing where I am, everyone seems to be able to do this with some confidence, and I've kind of just missed the boat on it! Part of that comes down to air control though, as I tend to get a bit mixed up getting the car into the right position to boost into the ball. Still, I'm a lot more confident in the air now, and actually able to aim my hits a bit better.

On half flips, I can do them, but I never seem to use them in game. I know they're faster than turning, but I'm wondering, is there a caveat to this depending on how fast you're going? Like, should I be actively hitting the brakes and half flipping around, or is it best served to be used only when you're actually going really slow anyway or stopped?

God I hate 1 v 1s. If they didn't make them challenges I'd never play them. I have never come close to even sniffing a victory in that mode. Somehow I always end up playing people with champ rewards. Some times I manage to score a goal but usually I'm ready to snap a controller after the fifth goal being scored on me in under a minute elapsed.

Last time they were a required challenge I would join a game and hit buttons randomly on my controller and read something on my phone.

For once I'd just like to be matched up with somebody my skill level and there might be a chance of me liking it but has yet to happen.

Probably a stupid question, but if you really hate 1v1 that much, why do the challenge? I also hate 1v1, mainly because I find it really boring, so I just skip that challenge.

I'm just surprised. Were you doing casual or competitive? Because ranked tends to match you up and within a couple games I'm playing very close matches.

Psyonix just detailed a bit of the new system that is replacing crates. Apparently there will be a store with rotating items and a blueprint system for printing new items.

The most important part of the whole post is that there will finally be a titanium white dominus!

https://www.rocketleague.com/news/bl...

Once the new Blueprint system does go live, your Keys will automatically be converted into Credits the first time you log into Rocket League. Each remaining Crate you have will be converted into a Blueprint of the same series.

So crates won’t become credits but will become something of value.

More specifically, this means that items obtained from Blueprints, the Item Shop, or legacy content acquired from Crates cannot be traded in after these changes go live. We also plan to implement an updated inventory management feature that will allow you to archive items that you don't want to see in your active list of customization items.

And if you have old crate items you want to trade up you’ll have to do it before the blueprint system is released.

Nemesis Battle-Car available now. Then other parts released in the coming weeks/months(?).

I'm just a completionist.

New Vindicator crate with Sentinel car Thursday, October 3. "A game update in December will introduce a new system called Blueprints."

Something weird happened with my URL. Fixed. It's Twitch Prime for RL.

I think it's every few weeks they release a new thing.

FYI, Nemesis is a Dominus hitbox, per a Pysonix comment on reddit.
