Rocket League Catch All

Kevpert is back! He's making training packs that leverage Bakkesmod to provide advanced features like blocking part of the net, randomizing the shot, starting you in the air or with momentum.

RLCS reward drops for watching on Twitch have changed. Some new items and some returning items:

I'm curious what white painted Decennium wheels look like. Decennium Pro wheels were an RLCS LAN reward a few seasons ago and look pretty good with gold highlights.

Also, use code "shazam" in game for 2 free themed items.

I love good passing plays.

here's one I just missed

I was slow

That first one from my perspective

sometimes solo queue results in good passing as well

bought time you hit that corner shot

I know right. I hit the post most of the time.

I hit one from the back wall before but my angle was crap and the ball bounced around inside the net. You were there. You know.

Crumbo, Flamingpeasant, we should totally hook up for ranked again sometime.

Didn't have work this morning so was able to finish off the weekly challenges before they switched. I know they are optional, but I'm just going to say it. The challenges are dumb. Why do I want to put on a shark topper, or sparkler or whatever? The problem is if they make the challenges something actually interesting, than it could hurt the competitve balance of the game. However, if you don't make them actually challenging then you get stupid things like put a certain topper on your car, or score some number of wins/goals/saves/ etc that you would just do anyway from playing normally so whats the point.

Also, did they change the minimum point threshold for XP? I just scored 188 points and it said I didn't meet the minimum

It’s a known bug that it says that in cases where it isn’t true. They said it is just a visual bug. You do actually get the XP.

Competitive season reset is happening on May 13. You have almost 3 weeks left to finish your reward wins.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
There are people on this forum who are willing to play ranked with you if you want to go for your wins. Just ask. I’m not offering to carry anyone to a rank they aren’t ready for but I’m willing to be a reliable teammate.

I've got back to diamond 3.3 on my own lately. Maybe I should try to get carried to champ.

I concur.

Panda, I'll probably take you up on going for those wins.

What are you trying to say Panda? Hmmm? Git Gooood?

Yes

It feels like this season just started. I was hoping to finally get out of Plat this season but I'm not sure I'll make it. I am on the verge of getting to Plat 3 for the first time though so I guess that's something.

It's the shortest season they have had (by 2 days).

I saw this video by JohnnyBoi and thought it could help a lot of us. It really helped me. Basically, he is a GC, and he casts/replays some of his videos. Shows you all his mistakes and horrible plays (the ones I know we all make) and how you can still get to GC despite that. Anyways, worth a watch.

This is surely bad news for all the Steamworks maps?

The game will remain on Steam for current owners. I would guess a fairly large share of the people who will ever own the game already owns it - so there is probably no reason to assume mod makers will stop supporting steam. Unless Psyonix/Epic decides to be complete dicks about it, and closes down the mod support, but I can't imagine they would.

Well at least it's double XP weekend

Whee, Rumble challenge!

13k players in rumble queue. Awesome night. 7 wins. Might as well get my placement.

My random brain dump on the Epic deal:

This makes me think it is even more likely RL is going free to play everywhere.

All your RL items exist in your account on Psyonix servers so no real reason they can’t link those to an epic account and sync between. They didn’t make accounts span consoles because of platform agreements not because it wasn’t possible. Fortnite accounts span all. Same account works on all platforms.

Psyonix and Epic have worked together for years, have a good relationship, and are basically neighbors. Fortnite is first game to get cross console multiplayer and accounts. RL is not long after (but multiplayer only so far). I wouldn’t be surprised if Epic has already been helping Psyonix a lot with talking to platforms (Xbox, Sony, etc) to get this approved. This kind of purchase takes a long time to go from idea to reality. We are hearing it after almost all the work is done.

Psyonix is likely not in a financial position to handle the risk of going free to play even though they originally intended RL to be free to play. Epic is financially able to handle that risk.

Epic is the best recent example of success with free to play and using a pass for cosmetic items to make serious cash. Rocket Pass is a near rip off of Fortnite’s pass and likely Psyonix was already talking to Epic about the pass before it was released whether the purchase was already on the table or it was just a friendly relationship.

That was my initial thought too. I figured it was enevitable anyway once they introduced the rocket pass, this only makes it a more certain outcome. Not that I think that is necessarily a bad thing. My guess is they time it the same time they officially pull it off of steam, so end of the year early next?

I groaned in my typical smug fashion when I saw that there was a Rumble Challenge this week.

3 games later.. hey this is kind of fun...

Still doubt I'm going to play more than the 5 required matches, but I did have some nice "pull" goals with both the magnet and the plunger. I had to actually look up what the button was to activate the powers and I still don't really understand what they all do, but I didn't hate it.

I have a love/hate relationship with rumble. Sometimes it is really fun and sometimes it is the worst mode in the game.

I'm going to be playing tonight, I'd like to get some comp in. Haven't been on much, looking forward to getting some games in!
