Rocket League Catch All

I love this game so much. 2 on 2 is proving to be a really nice mode for taking your time to setup some shots. I snapped a quick vid of this one because I actually meant to score this way. For once.

Love this game.

Add me to Steam.

Ok, time to give this game a try. I'm on PS4, VaultDweller1981

Guys, when I boost, a sitar plays and flowers come out of my exhaust. It is the greatest thing.

I really wish this game had multiplayer training rounds.

Just get 3-5 other Goodjers to to jump in a private match with the goal of learning stuff.

That works, or you can join a bot match as a team and set the bot difficulty anywhere you like.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I've been playing through a season right now and while I'm almost finished I have 0 confidence that I'll be able to join up in a MP round and be of any use. I'm still whiffing shots/saves pretty consistently despite taking the time to actually line everything up. I basically feel like I'm doing a slow motion "Noooooo!" every time the ball comes near me--I reach out to touch it, but it just slowly rolls past.

While the bots don't care when I do that and let in a goal, I certainly don't want to do that when I'm playing with actual people.

If anyone would like to feel better about their play, I'd be happy to start posting videos of me playing goalie.

Here's a link to the Ventrilo thread, if anyone is still looking for it. It's a sticky in this forum:

Don't worry about the online matches, you need to learn somewhere & I'm sure all of us in this thread have took a battering & played horrendous. It's all about the learning process.

You learn to sit back & be patient way more in online play the more confident you get. Good players will teach you lessons in how to set out your own 2,3,4 person team, be it in positioning or what tactics they use in general.

Get online guys! I haven't even played an exhibition match or season mode yet as I've been online since I first put it on & total play time must be near 30 hours now.

Man, there's a lot of pvp anxiety in here. If ever there was a game to lose in and still have fun, this is it. Don't be anxious that the ball will slide past you. Know that it will, and past your teammates too, and you'll all laugh and yell, "Nooooooooooo!" in slo-mo as it trickles into the goal. And then you'll laugh again at the replay, and then zoom, you're doing a face-off, and crazy other stuff is happening and people already forgot about the miss on the one goal a minute ago.

I joined in on a pvp game before I'd even done any training (a couple weeks after the game came out, so the skill level may have been lower, but still). If you're playing with friends, it's a blast. If you're not, it's still pretty fun.

As a reminder, the First Ever GWJ Rocket League... League is in full organizational swing over in this topic. Remember, skill levels don't matter - I envision this more as a way for Goodjers to better organize games together. If you have enough to make a standard team yourself or are all alone, come on over and sign up!

Rumor has it that Rocket League will be coming to the XB1 at some point, btw.

Holy crap, just hopped into some random MP (3v3) matches. Yeeah, definitely a lot more intense and awesome than playing against bots. However, a hell of lot more fun. The quick chat functions work perfectly--it's very easy to have everyone communicate what they are doing and even when you mess up the options don't make you feel like an idiot.

Wish I would have been streaming/recording, but I almost came back from being down 0-5. I say *I* because eventually my teammates were replaced by AI. I was going to drop out since my teammates at the time were totally idle--no movement from either car after the second goal. Eventually they just blew up and were replaced by AI.

And apparently I tapped into some secret Rocket League juju and was pulling off crazy angled shots, slamming into other cars moments before they had clear shots at the goal (still not good enough to play real goalie), and just generally getting lucky. Made it 4-5 with about 30 seconds to go. Unfortunately did not get a chance to tie it up as the other team went all out on offense and I couldn't break through the attack.

Yeah, I was already sold on Rocket League before, but after a handful of MP games, I'm really sold on this game. So good.

It has been getting a bit annoying lately with everyone just spamming the chat with "Nice Shot" 8 times in a row (per player). Is this the etiquette for RL now? /rantoff

Last night I was finding a lot of players idling (eventually getting blown up and replaced by bots), and more than the standard lag on PS4.

I blame dirty PC players... seem to always be a "Psy-Net" icon everytime it happens.

I plan on playing quite a bit tonight on PS4. I'll probably start around 6:30pm CT. PSNID = BEPNewt.

If anyone wants to do some private or public matches, let me know.

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for some people to play some ranked and unranked matches with. I work some weird hours so I am mostly on during the early afternoon on weekdays and late evening. That being said I am free for a couple hours now. I play on the PC so please feel free to add me to steam.

Thanks and take care,
AweSomeSauce411

Just picked this up, played it for 3 matches, yeah I'm sold.

Well, I made it up to a Silver ranking and got to play two games before being dropped like an anchor back into the Bronze Leagues. It's not that I was bad, although the quality of play is noticeably better in Silver, it's that for some reason one game started 3 on 2, and the second game might as well have started that way, as one of my teammates managed to finish with zero points. Apparently finishing mid-level with one loss 3 on 2 and one overtime loss is enough to drop you 70 skill points.

Anybody know why when I've added two members to my party I'm unable to search for ranked matches, but when one of them leaves the party and I'm left with one player and myself I'm able to search for a ranked match?
Is it something to do with our levels?

Did a bit of research on this. Turns out they use the term "Solo" to mean you can't go with teams. The three ranked modes are "Solo Duel", "Doubles" and "Solo Standard". From what I have read, Doubles allows team play, but 3v3 is always random people. There is talk about a team based 3v3 ranked mode.

Good to know. I saw TuffaloBuffalo in RL on the PS4 last night and was going to invite him in but it showed him in "Solo something_or_other" so I didn't bother him. I thought it meant he was playing 1v1. He was probably doing ranked 3v3.

I wish I could figure out how to extract specific highlights for upload on PS4. I had some incredible games last night.

What ratings correspond to silver and gold? I'm only familiar with the numbers, not precious metals.

When you select a ranked game type to search for, there's a skills rating displayed underneath it. You get separate ratings for solo, doubles, and threes. 500 is the threshold for silver. Not sure about gold. I'd guess 1000 though.

Well, this game was fun.

Also, friend me up on Steam if you want to play. I prefer 2v2, but I'd be down with 3v3 with fellow GWJers.

I scored 5 goals last night in one game including 3 in about 90 seconds and I thought that was impressive.
