Maybe the worst international final of all time?

'94 WC sez hi.

If France doesn't win this, they can only blame themselves.
It's Portugal's worst game in this tournament.

...except for that shot.

Nice to have a 3rd place team win a continental championship without winning a single game in 90 minutes.

um...what about the Wales game?

Enjoy Slazev! I'm glad to see Ronaldo win (even if he couldn't be on the pitch).

One goal at any point from France and they could have easily have killed the game with Ronaldo off the pitch.

Duh, brain fart on my part.

Still, 1 win and a handful of draws. That said, France can hardly be said to have earned it today either, so well played to Portugal (especially Rui Patricio).

My wife watched the first half with me. I told her that if France did not score in the first 30 minutes or so, they were going to have trouble.

(stupid reply instead of edit)

Congrats to Portugal!

Don't get the whole thing about them not winning games, I mean England go on about Italia 90 non-stop as one of the nation's greatest footballing moments, and the team only won one game in 90 minutes! Don't think any country would be complaining being in Portugal's situation.

Congrats, Slazev! Pretty remarkable to win after losing Ronaldo so early.

Quite fitting that a team who finished 3rd in their group won the lot since Platini ruined the comp by overloading it with teams

Yay!
So Éderzito, our only real centre forward who rarely played in this tournament, wins this for us.
It's hilarious! Thanks for taking out Ronaldo, Payet!

After 41 years, after 1984, 2000 and 2006, after the arrogance and ridicule from these last few days, with a horrible game to boot, in their home, revenge is sweet indeed. Suck it, French!

Edit:
A pity Eusébio couldn't see this. This is for you, Pantera Negra.

I think the player of the game was actually the Portuguese goalie. He had a very strong game.

No question. He saved the game many times.

Yeah, I mentioned him earlier (Rui Patricio). That save he made in the first half off Griezmann's header was beautiful.

Well that was unexpected

Eder? Wow....

It doesn't bother me neither does the whole 3rd place in the group stage ragging.

During the Hungary game after they tied it 3-3 they knew minimum if they finished that game tied they would advance in some way. Iceland scores pretty much on the last kicks of their game and they finished 3rd instead of 2nd. End up on the easier side of the bracket and next thing they know they are in the final. Sometimes you need some extra luck ;D

Cristiano Ronaldo's 'unbelievable' half-time speech inspired Portugal - Soares

Cristiano Ronaldo told me I'd score Portugal's winning goal - Eder

Extra amazing for my cousins in Braga for it to be Eder.

Right, enough of that international soccer nonsense.

The real 16/17 season has already kicked off - and here's its thread !!

Just wanna leave this here before this thread dies.
Kids can be great.

That's awesome. Good on the parents, too. I've been around little monsters at plenty of events that just take after their screaming parents.

Thanks for sharing! great on the kid and the French fan too for realizing it.

Great, now I have something in my eye.

Yes, considering how unhappy he obviously was, his reaction was nice to watch.

France won (deservedly so) the Under 19 Euro. They were very good.

Oi you..

Wouldn't dare post that on the new thread.

I was merely pointing out that you were in Fergie Time, as the 16/17 thread is open
