Super Mario Makers Catch-All

Uploaded a new level - messing around with vines and grabbing claws

Jungle Ropes Course
7CH-SGX-9CG

Any good YouTubes on creating good levels?

My first course: KQJ-91D-51G

Another new one!

Super Glitch World - 311-PPC-XJG

Just playing around with something different. It's not cohesive, but that's the point

My first course: KQJ-91D-51G

Nice! I'm yet to play around with that snakey block, you put it to good use. I was on the edge of my seat, hoping for a mushroom so I wouldn't die in one hit! But I made it in one go! Success!

My friend made a couple of levels and is looking for people to play it.

He describes this as a Super Mario Bros 1 simple speed run: XDN-1GN-CGG

A vertical "don't touch the ground" level: Y84-DC6-3DG

Just picked up the game last night, keen to jump in and try everyone's work!

i am working on a second level btw, I just only really play this last thing at night before sleep at the minute so it's taking me a while to get through. hopefully it'll be worth it though

I'm also slowly getting through the levels of everyone who posted here - all good stuff so far!

Hey there fellow Mario Makers! I've been having a blast with this game! Loved playing through the Story Mode, and looking forward to adding everyone here. My Maker ID is: NBL-N67-XXF

Right now I only have three courses uploaded. Don't Jump; Just Run (QW3-VM0-7FF) is basically just me messing with some of the new mechanics, and Take a break! (421-HSM-XPG) was inspired by Endless Mode, so it's just a really nice, easy level that'll restock your lives. The Legend of Peach (7RC-593-VDG) is my first attempt at trying to do something creative and fully formed, so I'd love to see some people actually play, and finish, it.

Getting started at following you all now!

Stevintendo - adding you to my "to play" list!

Second map done!

Shroom Raider : Course ID - WP3-2QD-6XG
Collect 100 coins them make it to the exit.

I completed the castle in Story Mode, so I built a level to test out the Super Hammer

Game Makers Tool Kit has a good video on "how to make your first Mario Maker level." It isn't a comprehensive guide so much as it's an attempt to help people overcome the intimidation of staring at a blank level and hundreds of possibilities.

Stevintendo, your Legend of Peach is quite good. I got first clear on it, yay! I like the variety and well focused areas. Nicely done!

Experimenting around and seeing if playing a course from right to left is harder than doing it from left to right ;

Been having a blast with the levels posted here. I'm especially liking those that might feel at home in their respective games so I took a try at a Mario3 one:
YQW-NWB-L1G

How do you play downloaded levels only?

I played your first course a day or two ago. I really liked the multiple paths approach, but actually ended up beating it by accident! I'll make sure to try your second one.

Thank you! I have to say, it made me very happy to see that someone had played the whole thing. I spent a bit of time trying to balance having distinct themes areas with not making it too long or difficult. I thought I'd prioritised keeping it interesting over making it difficult, but the fact you're the first to finish it makes me think that maybe I got that a bit wrong!

I'm really enjoying playing everyone's courses, I'll have to post some reactions when I've got the names in front of me.

Sorry, super busy week lately (and our A/C died and was out for several days) so I'm behind on catching up here. Will do so soon as well as update the OP!

Yeah, unfortunately you can't update an already uploaded map so i can't really go back and fix that problem without deleting it and re-uploading. I may just go for broke and do that. it's not had a huge number of people playing it so far anyway.

I've been trying to leave comments on the courses themselves, because it's such a joy seeing the little notification popup in this game! But a few things:

I was surprised how weird it felt going right to left. Definitely a lot harder!

First up, I loved the drawings you left me! lol!

Second, I really enjoy how mechanical your levels are. Keen to see more!

Edit: Just wanted to say don't skip the story! I've been playing it while out and about and it's an absolute delight. It's taught me a thing or two about quirky mechanics I'd have otherwise missed, too!

In the original super Mario brothers one, if you’re small and jump and smash a question for block with a power up you get a mushroom. If you’re big you get a fire flower. Is there a way to make this happen in super Mario maker two?

Yep! Progressive power-ups are still a thing. Just place the higher tier item, then drag a mushroom on top of it.

Thanks!

OK we’ve all done world 1-1 a million times. It’s very simple; keep going right. But what if you had to do world 1-1 while you always have to go left? T6X-47H-WVG

Tetris 6SN-KM1-7HG

I really wanted to play around with a Tetris-themed level. Turns out, it's harder than I expected to get nice moving tetromino shapes, so I had to change my initials plans into a sort of gauntlet run.

I'd like to play around with paths and blocks a bit more, it looks like you can do a lot of cool things with them. The only big limiting factor seems to be how they won't spawn until you are nearby, which ruins the timing of some patterns.

How do you set up the red/blue toggle blocks as junctions on those automated rails? I’ve seen that done in a couple of maps.

How about a some extra upload slots?

Upload limit raised

Just back from a 2 week vacation with the family (to Banff national park in Canada), and looking forward to catching up on all y'all's levels!

I was mostly off the Internet during the trip, but I did work on continuing my complete game (4J5-LN0-M1G) a bit most nights before bed, and connected long enough to get them uploaded as I went along. I'm through World 5-1 at this point, so just over halfway done.

Also, shoutout to WolverineJon who has some of the most consistently well designed levels I've played yet! Always good in-between the ridiculously hard stuff people are making. I've been enjoying them as a palate cleanser. Not too easy, not to hard...Juuust right.

Thank you so much, Unicycle! That's the goal -- with the early worlds of course being easier, and things getting trickier in the later worlds. It's been interesting to see how the clear rates of each level measure up to what I expected.

What’s your favorite level so far? (None that you’ve made yourself please)

Not sure if it's my absolute favorite, but here's a (non-GWJer) nice complete-game-in-progress of traditional SMW-style levels (most of which also include an optional, secret, difficult bonus level built in): P49-FQJ-CLF

Without a doubt this one:

8RT-X3V-YRf

So many fun toys! The rhythm game is my favourite, it's so clever!
