NieR Automata (aka Nieronetta) Catch-All

You can hear a sample of a new theme song on the game's website. It feels very NieR, but it's very fresh thanks in part to a new singer. Saw this thanks to Silicon Era.

I would pay a lot of money to be able to stream that upcoming NieR music concert.

Good news, it looks like you can simply pay money to stream that NieR concert on NicoNico. 2,000 yen, to be exact. As far as I can tell that gives you the option of watching a VOD up to several days later if you can't make it to the live event.

Yesssss... I'll have to look into getting a prepaid visa card or something. It's hard to get those online without going to a convenience store in Japan. That said, there may be a way to pay for with PayPal or something through their site. Japanese sites are finicky if your credit card isn't from Japan. Thanks for the link! I'll be doing some serious research into making that work.

Edit: So, I created a niconico account no problem and ultimately just signed up for the premium membership for a bit over $5 via PayPal just in case that would help with any streaming quality wonkiness (I'll cancel it after the show). You have to somehow get 2000 yen worth of points which they DON't allow via Paypal. Fortunately, there's a thread on Crunchyroll which details how to get the points. I'm going to go do that now.

Edit 2: Signing up for the Verified by Visa thing didn't work for me. It might because I'm using a Visa debit card, but I don't know. I'm going through the process of buying 2600 Yen worth of WebMoney which can be used. So, all told this will end up costing me $30.

So far so good. In the process of looking into it myself I did find it surprising that they let you pay for a premium subscription via Paypal, but for some reason that's not an option when buying into their points currency. I'll be looking forward to your after-action report!

Success! Getting webmoney.jp money through sutowebmoney.com worked, and I was able to purchase a ticket to stream the concert! I'm very excited, and of course I'll be writing down lots of thoughts in this thread.

sutowebmoney.com did require a scan or picture of a bill showing your address and name to verify that you're real. They said they had some problems in the past. I just photoshopped all the ID numbers out of a bill so it really only showed my name and address, and they were okay with that. The process took around 24 hours.

Edit: The concert is going to be at 1:00 AM on Friday my time (PDT). Even though you can watch it afterwards using the timeshift thing, I'm going to watch it live.

Well, it's an hour and a half till the concert stream starts (1:00 AM for me), and the curtain raise is at 1:30 AM. Tonight and tomorrow are gonna be rough because I have to get up at 4:00 am to go fishing. I have Audacity set up to try and record the audio so that I can listen to it again.

'bout time to try and get a few winks before the show starts.

Well, it was pretty cool. They didn't introduce any new music other than the full versions of the two songs that have been heard in the trailers and on the website, which were really cool.

They introduced the main character and voice actor, 2B. They also introduced two other androids, 9S and A2, along with their voice actors.

I'll post some other thoughts and details this weekend. I did record just the audio so I can hear all the songs again. There were the two new ones and 6 old ones which had great and unique arrangements.

Good luck not falling asleep during that fishing trip.

Bootleg footage of the VA trailer:

And a bunch of gameplay videos over at Siliconera

Does this share an artist/character designer with Bravely Default? That style looks familiar.

Yup! It's Akihiko Yoshida, and he was listed in that very first announcement trailer as the character designer.

Thanks!

I split out all the 8 pieces played and made them into an album I can listen to. The arrangements of the old stuff are really great. Unfortunately, the guitarist really messed up a note in the beginning of the second new song, and there's a horrible violin squeak at some point, but it's still fun to listen to. It was a little strange because everything else was performed so well.

It was easily worth the price of the streaming ticket to get this little live album. I like it because they use a string quartet arrangement for all the strings stuff.

Whoops! I realized I must have stopped watching after an intermission thinking it was the end. So, I missed that gameplay footage and 3 songs. Oh well, I didn't have time for it anyways.

The songs are floating around YouTube for now.

Well, as I fully expected, it's been delayed until "early 2017". I would guess it'd come out last summer early fall next year given they didn't put a date on it.

Looks great. *shrug*

Came here to post just that trailer. I laughed when I saw the year.

Though I'm hoping at this point Early 2017 means late March or April, because holy cow everything I want is early 2017.

If Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out early 2017 as well, then my spring to early summer is shot.

Also, trailer does look great, but are the swords and backpacks floating a good foot off the characters backs intentional?

Delayed.. to February 14, 2017?

Yes. It's part of the character design.

I'm sure that'll get delayed since it is Kingdom Hearts 3.

The song snippet is another one sung by J'Nique Nicole. Before this, I thought maybe she was only singing one song with Emi Evans doing the rest. One take away from the trailer is that the soundtrack will likely feature a mix of J'Nique Nicole and Emi Evans singing songs, which will be great and keep the soundtrack fresh and not just a rehash of what was done in NieR. Maybe they'll have singers correspond to certain areas or sections of gameplay.

I wouldn't bet on KH for early 2017, as that series usually releases in the fall.

Looks like a blast.

The Square Enix Presents NieR Automata event starts at 10 today. Looks like you can stream it via YouTube or Twitch.

By 10 you mean 10 PT. Some of us are over here in the future on the East Coast where it doesn't start until 1pm ET.

And then everyone in-between!

Oh man, Yoko Taro is going to make this stream so worth watching.

All a rehash so far going into showing the new trailer, but it does look like they're going to do more game combat demoing. It does seem like they're doing a good job of presenting the game to people who aren't familiar with NieR at all.

Oh! They're saying a global simultaneous release which makes me happy even if it gets delayed again to late 2017 which wouldn't surprise me. I don't want to be tempted to import the Japanese version and try stumbling through it.

Ha! The producer just shut down the interviewers and suggested just going right into showing the gameplay.
