Horizon Zero Dawn Catch-All

If I don't get this game very soon, as I was PROMISED! I will hunt and kill your Robot Dinosaur Dog some time next year. Consider yourself warned.

Weirdly enough, Hello Games and women. Listen, I don't make the rules.

No, no, that makes complete sense.

Not great quality video but it shows a bit more of the gameplay. Now if I just spoke Japanese.

I'm going to be so disappointed with this game. There is no way it can live up to my ever increasing expectations and hopes.

So what I gathered from that gameplay was you still Assassin's Creed up towers for map data, but these towers are mobile.

Try my method. Stop watching trailers and reading impressions immediately if you're already sold on the game. Then the only person you have to blame for increasing hype levels is yourself

This. It helps. I put it into action most recently with No Man's Sky. I was happy with the game whilst most folks burnt down the interwebs in disappointment.

Also, wait until after release and let everyone tell you how much the game sucks. Then when you finally play it, your expectations will be sufficiently lowered and you'll actually end up loving it.

This has happened to me with Far Cry 3, AssCreed 3, Mass Effect 3, and Watch Dogs.

Couldn't agree more. I'm currently on media blackout with Persona 5 and Final Fantasy XV. Will probably do the same with this.

I'm not actively seeking out info, but that gameplay video was quite enjoyable to watch.

I literally only came into the thread because it was on the first page and this is one of the first posts I see. Dyni you've just reminded me as to why I'm not looking into many of the gaming threads.

I re-watched that trailer in 1440p, and it looks good! That said, anyone else shriek in horror from the rope burn slide down that rope?

Totally!

There's a new trailer out, which is more focused on the robotic animals. Also, we learned this weekend that Kojima's game Death Stranding is using the same engine as Horizon. The temptation to get a PS4 Pro grows.

Also it's out in late February I think?

Horizon Zero Dawn is, yes.

It's one of the only games originally targeting that timeframe that isn't getting a delay (knock on wood).

New story trailer.

Hmm... I think I'm going dark on this from now on. I'm pretty much sold at this point.

Looks great but so many games do. I will wait for reviews.

Yeah I've seen more than I initially wanted to already, don't want more areas & enemy types spoiled further. I can't wait to wonder those lands.

I've been dark since E3. I will continue to ignore all trailers and cross my fingers in hopes that this game ends up being as good as it looks.

double dino post

I'm with you, farley3k. I won't event think about parting with cash until I've seen Edge's and Games' reviews.

Thankfully there's no multiplayer, so there's no additional pressure to dive in on Day One.

I'll be waiting for reviews that go into depth on the gameplay. Middling combat stalled The Witcher 3 for me, and everything else was excellent. I'll accept average everything else if a game plays well, but not the opposite.

The Nintendo presentation last night has to be bumming out the people making this game, right?

I mean, I can't be the only one who is now wondering whether I should pick this up at launch, or relegate it to the wishlist and play the new Zelda instead, right?

They do look similar. Forest landscapes with robot creatures. A protagonist most likely looking to discover what made it this way.

I've been in wait and see mode since the announcement.

Killzone: Shadow Fall was a bad shooter in every way except for graphics, and it's the same team making this.

Yeah, I've been cautiously optimistic based on what they've shown so far, but I have no delusions about the checkered history of Guerrilla Games. However, until Zelda got a release date, I was looking at this as a potential nice little diversion for the few weeks before the release of Mass Effect. Now, however, we've got ourselves a bit of competition for that time slot.

I think that's a fair approach, but I did listen to several different people on podcasts that had hands-on time with the game, and they all said they were surprised that the game played as well as it showed in the demos.

I gotta imagine the % of people that have a PS4 that we're interested in this title but also have either a Wii U or plan to get a Switch and Zelda is fairly small.

Not sure Zelda is what hurts this game but rather it's being made by a dev that doesn't exactly have a strong track record.
