Look Who's Dishonored Too - Catch-All

Ummmm, maybe try spoiler tagging end game events?

Sorry. Sure thing.
Done.

I just finished my game as Corvo with the low chaos ending. After enjoying myself in the beginning, and ready for it to end in the middle, it finished strong. Abandoning my attempt to be very stealthy and taking a nonlethal assault approach worked better for me. I left a trail of unconscious bodies starting in chapter 3. It just seemed so much easier to knock people out then to leave them conscious - especially if I wanted to take some of the loot. I always feel like I'm copping out if I don't stealth a stealth game.

I loved the logic puzzle in chapter 6 - one of my favorite moments in the game. Chapter 7 was really cool, and the game finished strong with the final chapters.

In the 9th chapter I finally realized there were more upgrades that you can do at the black market. I never noticed the multiple pages of upgrades. Now that I realized it I have a vague recollection someone else here already mentioned they did the same thing.

Blink and timestop were my main gotos. I also made some use of the darkvision, but that was pretty much it. I usually used what money I had to replenish my potions and restock my sleep darts. Since I didn't get much money in the 2nd half of the game, and skipped many ruins - it doesn't appear that you really need to focus too much on that stuff to finish the game on normal. It is probably a good thing I started out trying to collect money and stuff, otherwise I may of had a tough time.

I liked the song at the end credits too. I guess I'm not patient enough be to super stealthy. It did seem like the enemies could notice you fairly quickly. The stealth didn't feel as great as in Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain.

All in all a sold game for Dishonored 2. Not GOTY for me, but solid.

Also finished this up this weekend, without being spotted or killing anyone. Emily was quite fun to play, though I never did pick up Mesmerize or Doppleganger. Instead, Domino, Shadow Walk, Dark Vision, and Far Reach did everything I needed them to do. I spent a lot of runes in the crafting, and I don't regret it (while I could have save scummed, it felt like I would get annoyed doing that).

I am very curious as to how Corvo will feel now, especially given Emily's Dark Vision is a pulse (that sometimes annoyed me). I loved both the Clockwork Mansion and Chapter 7. Both were just delightful to navigate and changed the rules ever so slightly, so that I had fun exploring with a new frame of mind.

Most memorable non-story moment probably came when I was hidden at the top of a room with two Clockwork Soldiers hunting for me and figuring out

Spoiler:

that if I shot off their heads, they were effectively blinded to me.

Finished the other day.. I went with Emily and did a low chaos ending.. I accidentally dropped a body too close to a fire and ended up getting someone killed early on so I didnt bother reloading and figured I would just live with it.

Shadow Walk was pretty much OP when you max it out.. you can zoom through and knock people out without having to really try and sneak up on them.

Overall I liked it better than the first one.. the world is more realized and the levels are larger and more detailed. I probably will do a Corvo play through on the PC at some point and go high chaos.

I'll admit I got excited..

Spoiler:

During the ending cut-scene when it appears Billie goes back and finds Daud.. I found the Daud missions from the first game easily some of the best gaming ever and am hopeful there is some sort of DLC that revisits Daud in some manner

Only just started playing last night, and it's amazing, everything I'd hoped for so far (except I haven't gotten my powers yet, but all in good time). Playing as Emily, of course.
I sure am glad I played the Dishonored DLC, though!!

I took Eleima's advice and played the DLC from Dishonored first. A great way to get back into stealth shape as well as to bridge from the first to the second game. They are really strong DLC, much more so than for many games.

I'm also playing as Emily (cool kids, yo), and starting to gain facility with her abilities, even though my basic strategy is isolate and neutralize.

Are people having good luck with crafting bone charms?

So I stopped right in the very beginning of Clockwork Mansion about a month ago because I got distracted. I just walked in the entrance.

I'm crazy for stopping? Should I continue this journey?

I was getting tired of it towards the middle and then though the last levels were the best in the game, so I'd continue.

Yeah I've been stalled on Jindosh's for over a couple weeks now. Like I wrote on Steam a while ago, trying to evade omniscient Cylons while solving logic puzzles isn't what I want out of a sneaky-sneak game. But I'll power through it (read: kill everyone) soon and get on with it.

Oh my gosh, you guys, the Clockwork Mansion. /O_O\

Right?

My incredible, beautiful wife got me a GeForce 1070 GTX for Christmas. I just bumped all settings for Dishonored 2 up to max and WOW. Did not realize how muddy my 780GTX was making things to keep a somewhat decent framerate. Game is absolutely stunning now and running at a solid 60 FPS. Can't wait to finish it up now (had stalled out in Chapter 5).

Your wife is awesome.

That's great, Wayfarer.

Soooo, apparently, clockwork soldiers are fair game even if you're going for a Clean Hands achievement, but it's half past one (am), so I'm gonna give it another go tomorrow evening. But I'm so close to Jindosh, I can smell his cologne. Spoiler: he wears too much.

I assume it still counts against ghost if they spot you though, right? I hate those two-faced bastards!

Yup! You're supposed to approach them from the side. Like a crab... ^^

The Clockwork Mansion got talked up a bit too much, probably, because while it was cool I was waiting for it to get *really* cool right up until I left. Chapter 7 was awesome though!
I also found the performance issues to be slightly exaggerated. I'm on a 1070 and was running at about very high settings - there were definitely some areas were the framerate was terrible for no apparent reason (below 50) but other than those few areas it was perfectly fine.

I didn't notice the first time I accidentally killed somebody but it happened a couple of times after - for example, I tried hiding two bodies in one spot and didn't think much of the giant glass door that was leaning against the wall next to the spot I dropped the unconscious guards at. Of course it broke and shattered as soon as I dropped body #2 slightly too close to it, apparently raining enough debris and glass shards on both of the fools to kill them. Oh well.

I played as Emily (of course) but am really tempted by a second playthrough. That'll have to wait though, since my girlfriend didn't just get me Dishonored but also every other game on my wishlist for Christmas.

Same thing here! I think I noticed the multiple upgrade pages in chapter 8 or so, but definitely way too late.

I actually do think it's a cool level, I think it's gorgeous, wondrous level, but I'm just having a hard time outsmarting the clockwork soldiers. They're smarter than their fleshy counterparts (or maybe they just have better vision).
As for the performance issues, that's odd. I have a GTX 970 and it's smooth as butter on ultra.

Love the shattering glass kill, that's just awesome. Stashing unconscious guards is one of my favorite activities in Dishonored.

Regarding the Clockwork House/Mansion, it can be much cooler and easier...

Spoiler:

I got lucky really early on, it's possible to slip under the floor and/or into the walls and make your way through most of it without going through any of the rooms where the clockwork soldiers or guards patrol. It gave me the same vibe as the end of the original Portal, like I was totally outsmarting the design. You can eventually slip outside, then back in through an air vent very close to his office. There is definitely an achievement for never letting him figure out who you are before taking him down.

After finishing the game and reading more online, I guess it's actually possible to do the level without ever pulling a lever and alerting Jindosh that you are there! I haven't figured out how to do that, though. I do know that if you only pull the first lever and immediately slip into the walls and never activate another control or get spotted, he'll think it was a malfunction. On the other hand, if you do a high chaos run (I spent a couple minutes experimenting with running amok) he'll give a funny running commentary.

So I think a lot of the praise for the level isn't just the novelty of moving walls (but that's part of it), but also how different the experience can be depending on what you do.

You can avoid pulling that first lever...

Spoiler:

...if you break the glass in the ceiling of the first room and jump through. Then you get into the innards of the house without triggering anything.

I'm inside the walls and stashed Sokolov near the main entrance, and still have to find Jindosh but just feel like I'm going in circles. I'm hoping that killing everyone and everything in the level will help me sort things out so I can find the lab.

Well, um, I hate to say this but:

Spoiler:

Traipsing around in the innards of the house is pretty much the first thing I did. I'm always looking to be above and hidden away in nooks and crannies.

Diving back in, gonna give it another go.

Pulling those levers in the Clockwork Mansion is like opening a box of Crackerjack - what prize will you get? But you should engage with the clockwork soldiers, if for no other reason than to get some skill at tearing their heads off.

Spoiler:

And perhaps a souvenir.

I'm now in the Dust District and trying to figure out just where my loyalty lies.

The non-lethal option for this level is great.

I second this emotion and will add the manor level (second half of the Dust District) is stunning. The game mechanic introduced there blew my little mind away.

I'm slightly lost in the clockwork mansion.

Spoiler:

I have an unconscious Sokolov to lug around, and I'm attempting a ghost / non-lethal playthrough. I'm having a hard time getting him to the carriage without being spotted. In the room before the foyer there are two of those damn clockwork soldiers. Taking out one without getting noticed is very hard, but two is worse. I haven't taken out Jindosh yet, so maybe I should try that first.

It's a little frustrating, but otherwise this game is utterly fantastic. Can't wait to figure this out (with or without help) and explore more levels!

That's exactly where I am, Rallick.

Spoiler:

I've left Sokolov snoozing in the room just before the room before the foyer, and am off looking for Jindosh now. Two of those clockwork soldiers (I have three to deal with) in the room-before-the-foyer I was able to take out when the room was folded up: when they're behind the walls they're inactive.

I'll tell you how I did:

Spoiler:

I started throwing glasses and bottles in corners to isolate one soldier from the other. Then it was a simple matter to "Blink" (except it wasn't Blink, but I can't remember what the equivalent is called for Emily) next to the Clockwork soldier who remained and then rewire that one, Blink my way back to the balcony and watch the three clockwork soldiers take each other apart. I then used my crossbow to down the last one. Oh and I'd left Sokolow snoring away on a divan in the meantime. Which was kinda hilarious because one clockwork soldier had been alerted and made its way up to the balcony where I'd left him. He didn't find me (I'd jumped to the balcony on the opposite side of the room), but he wasn't fazed by the sleeping old man.

Finally finished up today on my first run through (Corvo, low chaos). Incredible game, definitely one of my favorites this year.
