Looks like at E3 we're going to get a look at Dark Souls 3 (I'm going to guess on the Xbox stage because of Bloodborne), after the guys at Rooster Teeth claim to have a leak on the game, with some fairly specific figures. This is being reported across the media now, so it looks fairly legit! The worst thing to come out of this though - there is no PC release for the game on launch, despite some strong sales for DS1 and DS2, but hopefully they port it without as many bugs this time!
Here is the video with screenshots and details, what do people think? Can't but help feel that they're dragging the series out too much, and the lack of a PC release is a bit annoying. I hope this isn't just a cash grab from them.
EDIT: There is a separate thread for story spoilers right here! Trying to avoid major spoilers in this thread.
Neeeed it.
Didn't DS2 also come out slightly delayed for PC.
Might just be the standard grace period for consoles, with all the typical piracy fear from publishers.
ermahgerd derk serls. I hope it's better than 2 - I had to stop playing because Bloodborne spoiled me with its design.
Yes, bring the pain! Now to just finish Scholars. I'm maybe 60% through. So many games, so little time...

The PC version of DS2 came out slightly delayed, so I don't think there is much to worry about yet on that front. It will probably come out 1-3 months later just like the last.
As I mentioned in another thread recently, I'm not too worried about Dark Souls fatigue right now because a) nobody else is making games like these. They are pretty much in their own lane, b) they have yet to release a game that wasn't of a very high quality (yes, even Dark Souls 2), and c) these games are mechanics focused above all else, and the mechanics are fantastic and enjoyable even after multiple playthroughs. I'll wait for them to actually drop the ball before I worry too much.
I'm sure it will come to PC, the previous 2 literally sold millions of copies. It's just a question of when...at launch or a little after? Right now, it's unknown because the PC availability is listed as 'negotiable' in the leaked video. Could go either way.
I have no problem with more DS games if they keep tweaking the formula. DS3 seems like more of an evolution (or proper sequal) of DS1 than a cash-in sequel to DS2.
Officially my Most Wanted Game as of now. No surprise there, as this has become my favorite series of all time. THIS is what will definitely make me buy a PS4.
Bloodborne was not enough?

Not quite. Have too many reasons to wait... but the cumulative advent of Dark Souls III, FFXV, the as-yet-unannounced-but-teased Ni No Kuni sequel; and the existence of Bloodborne among a handful of other titles, will be enough to finally make me jump on the current generation of consoles, time and money bedamned :P.
Having never played a Souls game, but after taking a chance on Bloodborne and loving it, I'm all in on this! Might even manage to sneak DS2 in there beforehand!
Bloodborne was awesome..but it won't be anything compared to the excitement and anticipation of Dark Souls 3.
This will be interesting from the other side of it. The reason Bloodborne piqued my curiousity and Dark Souls never did had everything to do with the Lovecraftian overtones and interesting, timeless, placeless setting (whereas Dark Souls appeared general grimdark medieval-ish.)
I still haven't played a DS game (though I plan on remedying that soon), but I suspect I'm coming into this the way everyone who was already a fan of the Souls games came into Bloodborne - with some excitement for sure, as From Software has a great track record, but without the beloved franchise excitement amp cranked up. I sincerely can't wait to see if DS2 enthralls me as much as Bloodborne did, and regardless it'll be funt o ride the hype train on a Souls game for the first time :).
Especially if its supposed to come early 2016.
That development time is crazy btw. They are turning Souls into a CoD yearly release.
And I can't even hate that - yet anyway.

This, exactly. Don't mind a proper Souls game every couple of years or so if the quality is maintained. Though I can see they would have to really begin to change the setting up a bit if it comes to that.
Happy to get a new Dark Souls game, I'll take them as often as they make them. I was disappointed in Bloodborne and hope that they don't incorporate the battle system or co-op bell ringing system into the core titles.

Oh I hope they do *exactly* that.

For you there is Bloodborne DLC. Coming fall 2015 ;?
I'd be fine with Bloodbornes combat, but for dualwielding and 2hander only, and then keep Dark Souls 1hander+shield or caster styles.
Or maybe only for dualwield, and keep Souls 2hander combat.

I want it in DS3 as well. With no other options.
- Enemies approach alone or in small groups, from unexpected angles instead of large mobs.
When did enemies ever approach in large groups in Souls?
From unexpected angles? Doesn't sound like a difference either, unless they are going for the horror game feeling of monsters spawning behind you all the time or something
Just like its predecessors, every adversary in "Dark Souls 3" is strong enough and smart enough to vanquish anyone it comes into contact with. That series trademark just won't be accomplished with massive hordes of monsters this time around.
Did they play some secret versions of the previous games?

Monster Closets were well received in Doom 3.
It's possible that they're comparing it to Bloodborne where there were hoards. They also added a bit of that to Scholar otFS. I didn't mind the monster clusters in Scholar, but found them a pain in BB in part because of the blood vial mechanic and the need to farm them.
