Ran out of gas? How odd, doesn't a generator hold 28 days worth of gas at full? 1 gas an hour, 24 a day, 4 days for a stack, 7 stacks. With the new oil rocks on the frozen coast, I just make a run every week or two for the oil, I have been tossing away multiple stacks of hides since its just too easy to get with sabers or argents.
So finally found a Giganotosaurus today on the snowy hillside just below the snow obelisk. It was a female level 12. It took me over 225 tranq arrows to knock her out. I had four hundred narcs on me and enough kibble to tame so I was not worried. Well about 1/4 way through I realized I was going to run out of narcs. Moto was just walking in the house so I asked him to jump into the server and bring be a few hundred more narc. He gets it to me, we get it on her and use about 25 or so quickly to get her topor to rise. Whew!! Moto then starts having video issues so I move over to his desk, but can still see my screen, I take care of his issue and while the topor is still GOING UP (I was watching it tick up, not down), she wakes up and kills both of us. ARGH!!!!!!! I respawn, fly about 3/4 of the way to the taming spot when she then kills my Quetzal and Pteranodon I had there and set on neutral. I get there and am able to find both Moto's and my gear, but I cannot find either birds gear. I lost a Giganoto saddle, my journey flak armor (I had my fur on and put my armor in my bird), and my journey Petra saddle. UGH!!!!!!!!
I see the Giganoto so I start leading her to the beach so I can try to tranq her again, but she falls off the cliff and drowns. Bye bye Giganoto. Bye bye gear she ate.
...and now in rl, winter is here and it's snowing. ZXKDJfasdi;gbrg!!

Yeah, but that would require me to actually fill my generator up with gas at some point. I just get tired of smashing oil rocks. I think I'm just burning out on the mundane parts of the game.

That REALLY sucks. The game can really kick you when you're down.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the Gigano doesn't just wake up at 0 torpor. I think it starts having a non-zero chance at waking up at 50% torpor, and that chance continually increases as the torpor falls to zero, at which point it will absolutely wake up if it hasn't yet.

To burn the Titanomyrma's of course.
Well, that was 'fun', for certain values of 'fun'.
After a bit of searching, found a turkey. A 'Wild Super Turkey level 64'. Tried attacking it with my argent, and I didn't seem to be doing any damage. So I picked it up and flew it back home, fortunately it didn't attack my argent while being carried.
Partway home, I drop the turkey on top of some sabers. They ignore it. So do the wild argents, the raptors and the compy gang. Fine. Pick it back up, fly it home, drop it in the taming pen. Try poking it with my pike... when the pike finally broke there was no sign of damage to the turkey.
Ooookkay then. I gather up my saber pack, 7 fine cats that could shred an alpha rex and have. I take them into the pen and turn them loose on the turkey.
After a while I decide to save my sabers and manage to whistle them passive, then led the cats outside the base with the undamaged turkey waddling in hot pursuit. I get the cats to safety, get back on the argent, pick the turkey up and fly it to the edge of the map before dropping it in the ocean.
The turkey swims directly back to my base, moving as fast as my nonsprinting argent. Sigh. I pick it up again, and fly it halfway across the map, dropping it in the jungle away from any buildings. It runs in circle for a bit, then starts wandering around aimlessly, looking like it wasn't agro'd on anything.
I am clueless why the devs think this is a 'good thing'. Oh, and word on reddit is the super turkeys drop the wishbones (not a 100% drop rate, at that) of which you need 30? for the hat and 100 to summon up the dodorex. o_O?
with the undamaged turkey waddling in hot pursuit
I killed two Turkey's and no drop from either of them. First Turkey, I unloaded 50 simple bullets and three rockets into it, then hit it about 20 or so times with my very high level Pike. Second Turkey, it was trapped in a corner so I proceed to hit to with two Pikes. About 300 or so hits later, it died. Not bothering with another one.
Gotta wonder about the devs connection to reality... ghillie suit keeps you from overheating? Erh... no. Well, game logic, just gotta let it go.
The new dino, the oviraptor does not collect eggs from your tamed dinos, only from wild dinos. Not really seeing the benefit there, grabbing eggs from the wilds, even from the middle of bronto herds, hasn't been a problem. The boost to egg laying rate, that would interesting, figure I'll tame a few, position them in the egg factory so the effect covers the entire area and load them down with shark teeth so they can't move.
The new industrial cooker, still requires waterskins, still doesn't have a means to irrigate, still doesn't let you use waterjars or canteens for more than one dose of water. Still, the devs say they are looking into adding irrigation to it...
I'll have to test the table, supposedly you can place things on them, like the mortar and pestle.
Man, this used to be such a nice quiet neighborhood. Poke my nose online to feed the dinos today, and find a level 116 female rex poking her nose into the base. Rowyn flies over to the shark pen to feed the various water based dinos, and nearly gets jumped by a level 72 male alpha raptor. Taking the argents out to kill the raptor, I find another alpha raptor, female level 112.
If it wasn't so much trouble finding a new place, packing up and moving, sigh.
Fortunately I already had the kibble made, its always fun leading a hostile rex into a taming pen, on foot. Looking forward to the promised change to the industrial cooking pot in v226.4 - assuming it actually happens.

I was flying over your base to go get some oil and saw a lvl 4 female alpha rex. I pulled her away from your base and killed her. Got nothing but prime. It must be the cologne you're wearing. You're just an alpha magnet.
Lightning gave me a heads up about an alpha rex hanging round near my tower, and I needed to log in to feed the critters so off I went. Found an alpha raptor right outside the walls, level 80. Searching around farther, I found the alpha rex over by the old WSM base. The three argents jumped it and the swirling furball drifted inside the old base. The rex battered down some more walls before it finally died.
66 prime, 1 level - boosted a level 216 argent to 217 and some raw meat, that was it for loot between both alphas. Neither dropped even so much as a ramshackle cloth hat.
If you wander by the tower and find an alpha of any type, don't hesitate to kill it. I certainly won't begrudge you the exp. There is gas in the large storage box next to the industrial grill outside the tower, feel free to cook the prime there.
Reptar says "Merry Christmas!"
He is real. Believe!!
Chasing the presents is very profitable. Mostly coal and mistletoe, but also blueprints. Journeyman Quetzal Platform saddle, Apprentice SCUBA tanks (2 so far), Apprentice Fur Gloves, Apprentice Ghillie legs.
Been using my argent, because the presents drop everywhere, so sometimes you have to clear the area before landing to open the present. Snagged two off Predator Island, for example, another landed in the middle of a big fight with sabers, wolfs and mammoths brawling. The presents are like the supply drops, times out after a while, the timer starts when the present hits the ground. Looks like he normally drops 6 presents a night. Been getting one or two blueprints a night, the rest being coal or mistletoe.
Gave myself a present yesterday, a level 116 male rex was wandering around near my base. Luring it back to the taming pen section of my base was a bit more interesting than what I was used to. The AI changes caused the rex to deaggro and run back to the area I found it in every time it got stuck on something, a twig, a pebble, a small kitten. And of course it would run off and attack anything in the area. Finally managed to lead it past all the scrub trees and rocks. Its an albino, red eyes, mostly white skin, looks pretty. I could breed it with the high level female rex (108? 116? don't recall) and hope the kids inherent the dad's colors.
Also lost two sabers, they couldn't hop out of the water onto the ice flows, ran out of stamina, drowned. Even diving back in and trying to ride them out didn't help, one died just a few feet from shore. I used to normally take the cats through that section without any problems, so I suspect something got changed recently. So, I won't be taking them swimming again.
I can't really devote much time to the game these days. I logged in for the first time in a few weeks, and some of my lower-level dinos had already starved. I put a few stacks of food in the bins to give the dinos a few more days. If anyone wants to grab the survivors, they're more than welcome. There's also still some jerky and eggs in the fridges, even though they're unpowered at the moment.
I do think they changed some dino spawn items. We have never had an issue with any bird on our flight deck, but after this last patch, I can pretty much expect that each time I log in, a few of the birds will be outside our base. They are on neutral and must be agro'ing (is that even a word) on something. I'd hate to have them on passive and get them killed.
Deftly, I am still on just about every day so I can swing by and try to feed everything.
Heya guys, been a while since I've been around the forums but good to see some people are enjoying ARK. It appears that Elycion is running a server that you all are playing on? I've been playing on an old buddies server that I used to play CoD games with but he has moved onto Fallout 4 so not sure how long his server will stay up. I may need to relocate soon.
FINALLY!! I finally tamed a Giganotosaurus. Started at level 28 and tamed at level 41 with over 750k health.
Smiley face
I just started playing ARK. OMG, this game is kinda stressful. I started up on a friend server, seems very populated, but the dark, the dinos, the death. It is both great and horrid. I live with my torch.

Bah. Stayed up to get the last mistletoe needed to make the reindeer costume, waste of mistletoe. Sure, it gives the female megalocero antlers (the no horns on the female moose just looks bad to me) with mistletoe twined around them, but the rest? The muzzle, the ears, they look like they are cut out of construction paper by a 3 year old and glued together. Given the attention to detail of the moose's normal appearance, its rather appalling. The legs and hooves, again, appalling. I have the female with the costume standing next to the male without, and he looks great. She looks...ugh.
Elycion, planning on running the ball drop event tomorrow night? The last post by Drake says something about running a code 12 hours prior to midnight eastern.
