XCOM 2 Catch-All

Hello my friends.

I have a request. My Valkyrie new enemy unit mod is almost complete. I'm still sorting some AI minor issues, and still have some art assets to complete, but she's ready.

My request is, I need willing testers, for balance purposes. Her new ability and the item granted by her research could be borderline OP, and I wanna test it.

I'm more than happy to zip and send the mod if anyone's willing. Let me know, I'd be incredibly grateful!!

Problem is, I... tweaked... something, and broke the damn thing. Now it doesn't work at all. I've asked a couple of better-equipped people to help me at least restore it to it's previous working form. Once I hear back, I'll certainly send it to you so you can help me test it out.

I wrapped up my first play through on easy. It was crazy comparing my stats at the end to the world. I lost 23 soldiers throughout the campaign compared with the worldwide average of (only!) 3. Oh well, it was fun. Now to try some mods, especially some of kexx's, and a higher difficulty.

Reaper, and anyone else willing,

I've managed to bring the Valkyrie back to it's working state. I've set up a mediafire download link to the mod, just unzip and place the "Valkyrie" folder in your steamapps/common/XCOM 2/XComGame/Mods folder.

Thank you so much to any and all willing participants. My goal is to make her a big threat that becomes a priority. Having that said, if it helps, these are things I'm looking for:

Valkyrie:
1. Is she too over/under powered in general? Stuff like dodge, hp, in general, in addition to her skills.
2. Is her unique ability too powerful? Can you find ways to counter them and/or prepare?
2a. It has a 5 turn cooldown. Is that OK, or would you change it?
2b. The unconscious status effect is intended to be 100% guaranteed. Would you make it less?
2c. If hit by it, have you been able to complete the mission objectives, AND bring any unconscious soldiers with you, or is there just no more time left?
2d. I'd like to keep the ability as is, but if it turns out to be too much, would making her have only 1 charge be an effective nerf?
2e. Guaranteed Unconscious is pretty nasty. On top of that, it deals 7-9dmg. Too much or fine?
3. After a few missions encountering her, do you feel she has somewhat become a priority target?
4. Do you feel you've been "forced" to adapt? Spread your units out?
5. Given her current stats and skillset, is she appearing too soon in game? too late? just right?
6. Do you feel she becomes "easier" to deal with once you obtain her research item vest?
7. Do you feel she becomes "easier" to deal with in general, during the late-game with all your awesome equipment? Basically, is she scaling properly? Or do we need a Mark2/Mark3?
8. Are too many Valkyries showing up per mission? Too few?

Vest:
1. Is her vest item too overpowered?
1a. The 3rd action per turn it grants, is mostly limited to movement, and non-ending actions, like Lightning Hands, Reloading, Salvo, etc. Is it too much? Does it need more restrictions?
1b. Haven't tested yet, but can a Specialist with the vest, heal 3 times? If so, is it fine, considering the medikit charges would also deplete quicker?
2. Is her vest item too hard/expensive or easy/cheap to obtain? At 6 corpses, I aim the best to be somewhat unique, but, if anyone wants to grind and have 6, so be it.
3. What, if any, would you make either about her stats, her ability, or her vest, configurable in ini's for players?

Bugs:
1. She's supposed to try her ability to hit as many soldiers as she can. Is she doing so? Or just hitting whomever is closest? (This one right now isn't working properly, as she's not moving to optimal position)
2. Once she's used her ability, if she's survived, has she been using her other skills, like melee, firing or blazing pinions? She's supposed to.
3. The vest is supposed to grant 2HP, immunity to Unconscious, and a 3rd action per turn. Are those working properly?
4. When first sighting one, a new sound clip should play with Shen talking. Is that playing?
5. A new image has been added for her Autopsy Research picture. Is that showing?
6. New Autopsy Blurb, and new Autopsy report texts have been added. Are they showing up?

Final Thoughts:
Anything else comes to mind? Aesthetics, skills, items, research times, whatever you can think of, it helps!!

This little questionnaire is by no means any "requirement", I'm aware that anyone willing to do this, is doing it out of generosity and kindness, so I can't thank you enough.

I also realize that proper balance testing is something that's going to take time, at least half a campaign, I'm guessing. Or maybe launching debug and purposely altering your equipment to test stuff out in tactical (which I've been doing as well). Anyway, my point is, I know it'll take time, and that's fine. I'd like the mod to be the best it can be before putting it out there.

There is a 2 player Co-op mod that has launched, it is currently being tested and awaiting 12 player co-op code to be approved.

So this is out on Xbone today - and I was SO excited to get it, but just found out that it has a season pass. Seriously? This is an 8 month old game with all the DLC released on the PC already, and yet the DLC is being released separate from retail? That just seems ugly to me. If this were the GOTY version(all dlc included) i would totally drop 60 bones on this, but with the season pass I guess I will just wait a couple months for Black Friday.

To be clear, I don't usually mind DLC or season passes - but it seems gratuitous to delay a release for a platform and then charge separately on the DLC.

Agree. Quite disappointed to read this.

Sally stole my thoughts on this exactly. I will still pick this up on the Xbox, just not now as I originally planned.

My PS4 copy arrived today, can't wait to get stuck in. It is disappointing to hear about the DLC not being bundled in though.

Do you guys playing on PS4 and Xbone know if you have access to mods?

There is , unfortunately, no plans to include modding on either console version.

Bought my Xbox one copy last night, and really looking forward to playing it. Playing on the xbox makes it more of a social experience as well, which we enjoy greatly in my family.

I'm wondering if you can at least get character lists on the consoles. I want to slide some GWJers into my epic intergalactic struggle.

It is really hard to hold off on buying this. But $75 for everything is a lot, so I at least need to wait until a paycheck comes in.

The mask/hood on your Kasumi mod looks awesome kexx.

You can definitely create character lists, I've done it on PS4. Dunno if you can export/import them though

Level - Easy, ok this shouldn't be too bad, I can make a couple of mistakes, I can be aggressive in pushing forward towards the objective. Two operatives killed later I'm rethinking that strategy.

Only played the tutorial style level at the start after you've set the explosives off at the checkpoint + the next two missions & am loving it so far, the concealment phase were you can see the enemies vision when you come near their position is a great little feature to starting each mission, trying to get your squad in good cover & flanking positions.

Are you going to release a pack which contains them all? I'd really like a simple 1 pack download which has all of this greatness. Really impressive stuff, Kexx.
