Yep, this about sums it up for me. :D

That one works pretty well for me

Gee, maybe I should try the first one again. Is it any good, guys?

Hey Tkyl I'm sure you know who worked on the new Snakemen. Go give them a pat on the back for me, they did a great job. While you're at it why not suggest they have a go at remaking the original 1994 Chryssalid? I'm sure they would do a great job.

The reason will likely be that they made a lot more money on PC than consoles. I'm sure there's going to be some design justification for it but ... you know. $$$

True. In the end a big company like that will make the decision that makes the most money 99% of the time. And that is fine. I want the company to continue to put out games so more money is better.

If they really want to make money they should port the original campaign over to XCOM2. That would allow it to take advantage of whatever improvements they have no doubt made to the engine/UI and the mod support via workshop. To say nothing of the design insights gained from making the first XCOM, I'm sure there are dozens of things they wish they could go back and change and this gives them a chance to make good. Ideally for free, but they could just as easily tie it to ownership of a legit copy of EW, which itself requires the base game. They could then drop the price of EU and EW to 15$ each which would make buying XCOM2 an attractive proposition for anyone who owns the original. It would also make XCOM1 a 30$ expansion for anyone late to the party who first picks up XCOM2.

A comparison can be drawn with L4D. L4D was an awesome game, truly groundbreaking at the time and extremely replayable if you had 7 friends. L4D2 was L4D polished up and created using lessons learned. When they ported the original L4D maps over and even created more free campaigns using the original characters, that's where the game truly shined. Firaxis has a rare opportunity to go back to their original game and elevate it to another level, I hope they don't miss it.

I sit right next to him, so I will.

I'm getting a kind of The Bureau feel from it. Also, a bit of V.

Firaxis' Agents of XCOM.

I just want destroyable environments and material penetration like in Silent Storm.

I know this may be entirely off topic, but I just had a realization that the Ethereals' plan is basically the plot of Childhood's End.

Seems appropriate.

Looks like XCOM: EU/EW is on 48hr. Steam sale to whet your appetite.

$7.49 (-75%) and $9.89 (-67%) respectively.

Yup, already reinstalling the first one over here

This is going to sound SO petty, but it kind of makes me think that any progress or success you had in completing the first game was just a waster of time. I hope there's at least a good story behind what happened after the end of EW that acknowledges the original XCOM story.

Other than that, Day 1 Purchase, only the second game this year I'll be saying that for.

I hope they bring this track back. Always got me hype while prepping.

Been thinking about mod support and what that will entail. I'm thinking cosmetics for units/weapons will definitely be in. Maybe a way to share a map that generated in your playthrough. Possibly custom maps? Really curious to see how far they take it.

New XCOM and new Just Cause for Christmas? Yes, please!

Oh and I want another patch just like the first one came with. I have it on my IDPA shooting vest and love it.

I love that book, totally need to re-read it now, but I'm getting more of a V feeling from it.

And for the kiddies in the audience, V was a big deal back in the 1980s...

The first one has great controller support, hopefully that will still be the case with 2 being PC exclusive.

And then also this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_%2820...

I've been a ghost on here lately, but had to peek my head in when I saw the announcement pop up on my feed. Cannot wait!

Back to The Dark Ages...

Yup, that should cover it...

I would be very surprised if an Xbox/PS4 release isn't announced shortly after the PC launch. I noticed that Mac/Linux versions are also coming out. I'm pretty happy that this is a PC exclusive (for now) - hopefully it's fully optimized and mod-supported.

Mmmm-hmm.

Looks like I may have found one of the very few games that snags a coveted spot that gets my hard earned money at full asking price! I thoroughly enjoyed the first game and was more than happy paying full price.

Tkyl,

I want you to know, as someone who's logged in more than 1200hrs into the game, I want to have sweaty sex with your entire team right now. I can't believe we're getting this so soon as well!!! And Snakemen!!!!!! SNAKEMEN!!!!

When I saw the ninja dude, I don't know why, but my mind went to Mass Effect 3 MP, with the N7 Shadow. I'm guessing melees made it into this.

Also, my money's on it being PC exclusive right now, due to the success of Long War. The many, many things it added and changed, the response from the public crying out for more complexity, etc, I think that's why they went this way. Don't know if it'll end on consoles, but I'm ecstatic about it.

I just peed myself again.

Well I've been meaning to finally play with Enemy Within after buying it in a sale a long time ago. Guess now i have an excuse.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that a Snakewoman?

Cool. I would definitely play some more XCOM. I had a lot of bugs with the PC version of XCOM:EU that sucked out some of the fun, but I still had a good time with it. Hopefully the PC focus can help them polish it more effectively this time around.

Yes. Yes it is.
