What is XCOM2?
I feel that a lot of people, especially here, know enough for this to be kind of a weird question, but it seems like there are still some gamers who are interested who have not played XCOM in any incarnation, are put off by the "difficulty" stories, or simply had the wrong impression.
I created a spreadsheet for people to fill out with names and such so they can be added into others games if anyone is interested: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
Just leave anything you don't care about blank.

Updated the GWJ Conference Call crew character to pool to include some more regulars! To import them into the game you can grab my custom pool here!
Just extract the file into the following folder: \My Documents\my games\XCOM2\XComGame\CharacterPool\Importable
Fun! I'll probably update it down the road with their own takes on themselves once they get a chance to play.
Goodjer character pool updated.
Added some new requests, the extended Conference Call list, and made some unilateral edits to a couple of the accents cos, take it from me, Elysium doesn't have anything resembling an Australian accent.

- Download the TeamGoodjer.bin file. Dropbox and git links in one of my upthread posts.
- Import the pool into your game.
- Create your character.
- Export the character you just created to the TeamGoodjer pool.
- Send me a copy of the updated file with your info.
If you know how to drive git, you can clone the repo, branch, and submit a pull request with your new version. That means less work for me and, as such, a faster turnaround.
If you don't know how to drive git and don't want to follow the first process you can create your character, export it as its own file and send that file to me. That means I then have to add you in manually myself and that's more work for me, which means a slower turnaround.
Just a note I don't think dropbox links are persistent so every time I upload a new version there may be a new URL. Not sure, haven't tested. At any rate that would mean changing the OP link every time.
The git repository will stay consistent, of course, which is half the reason for using it. I'd recommend adding that to the OP as well: https://github.com/markbrereton/gwj-...
Oh my.

PC Exclusive...hmm..
Hope you guys love the trailer.
PC only?

Until they port it to tablets in a year
XCOM: Human Revolution.
I really like the cinematic. I'm disappointed that it's not coming to consoles, but I assume there are good reasons for that. Gameplay footage for strategy games isn't the sexist thing in the world, but hopefully we get to see what the actual game looks like sometime soon.
Oh hell yeah!
Hope you guys love the trailer. :)
Thanks Tkyl!
And it's so cool to finally see
Snakemen! Yay! My favorite alien race to go up against back in Original X-Com. Eat Plasma death Fang Face!
EDIT:
It certainly looks ambitious in the setting/storytelling dept.
Pretty shocking release date too.
VERY exciting.
Indeed. It seems like now the shoe is on the other foot.
And that release date surprised me too.
My first impressions:
Good to see Germany is still around!!
If ninja is a class option then I also want to see Pirates.
Well this is nice since people here were just talking about wanting more X-Com the other day.

We will be showing off game play footage at E3. I believe it will be on IGN's Live Shoe coverage.
Cool. Thanks!
XCOM: Human Revolution.
We joke, but the video brought back to me a "Syndicate Wars" feel, in that I always wanted a version set in that universe which plays out like the Geoscape in X-Com. Where your focus was global in the allocation and deployment of Agents around the world while trying to outmaneuver other Syndicates doing the same.
I played so much XCOM, I wasn't sure I'd be able to get jazzed on it again.
I hope playing as (presumably) terrorist-guerilla-freedom fighters really gives that underdog feeling, and makes it exciting.
I find the platform choice fascinating. I'm sure Tkyl can't comment, but my guess is they wanted a reasonable scope/budget, and the PC(/Mac/Linux) gave them the right flexibility and team size. I would really love to know more about that decision.
Awesome!
Do want! Merry XCOMass, everyone!
Steam Workshop
The reason will likely be that they made a lot more money on PC than consoles. I'm sure there's going to be some design justification for it but ... you know. $$$
I'm always happy to see a developer focus on the PC.
I am excite. The last X-Com+Expansion is one of my favorites of all time at this point. I've played through the campaign with and without expansion content at least 5 times now.
I've already warned my friends and family on facebook to expect another round of me blasting them with pictures of characters I've named after them getting killed when I inevitably mismanage my squads.
Holy shit. Mod support and procedural maps!!11!!one!1111!!!!
Mobile heli carrier base!
Melee!
PC only (for now) design! (Civ V vs Civ Rev)
Steam Workshop
Second try at paid mods?
Yep, this about sums it up for me.
Oh god oh god oh god oh god!

True. In the end a big company like that will make the decision that makes the most money 99% of the time. And that is fine. I want the company to continue to put out games so more money is better.
Can't.. find... excited... enough... gif...
Very excited and surprised by this announcement!
I'm also hoping this means Firaxicon 2015 is a go! Last year was a blast.
While the reason probably is more in line with the where the money is, I hope that the tech doesn't push our PC rigs to the limit. I need to play this!
