MLB 2015 Season: Playoffs!

And here comes the crap onto the field.

That shouldn't be a run.

This may go down in baseball history as one of the weirdest innings ever. There will be wall-to-wall documentaries about this in the years to come.

I maintain it shouldn't have been a run - the umpire called it dead and waved off the fielders and I don't see how you can undo that. That being said, I'm embarrassed by the fan response. Haven't seen this many cops on camera at a sporting event since, I don't know...

Toronto fans at Skydome tend to be awful. Throwing stuff from the upper deck every opening day, throwing stuff at Beckham in the CONCACAF Champions League. I'm Surprised there weren't any pitch invasions.

That bat flip was awesome but the Blue Jays blowing this would be typical Toronto sports.

This + the fact that I'm pretty much being told I have to cheer for the blue jays. Makes it extremely hard for me.

I want to cheer for the blue jays. But then their fans tell me I have to because they are Canada's team.

They are Toronto's team. Many people in Canada cheer for many other teams. Me randomly for Oakland. People in Windsor area the tigers. Lots of people in Vancouver obviously Seattle. Montreal? They once had a team so either lots of broken hearts or even Nats fans.

Don't get me started that Rogers owns the Jay's.

You can't take this away from me!

Haha!

I think I just need to enjoy it in as much isolation from certain aspects of the fanbase as I can.

This might be hard as I'm in Toronto Friday, Saturday.

That's because Windsor is just an extension of Detroit. It's a favorite pastime of the locals (*cough*collegekids *cough*) around here to head over the bridge or tunnel to partake in Canadian culture (*cough*drinkingatnineteen*cough*)

Yea had a friend who went down to Windsor for school and he would go to the Detroit side to party occasionally and said it was interesting.

But yea the point is that considering the majority of Canada's population is stretched across the American border people have rooting interests accordingly.

Hell, I've known so many Bruins fans its pretty nonsensical. They were never exceptionally good when these people were growing up and they had 2-3 closer teams to be a fan of growing up depending on their age.

Anyways Royals vs Jays..... I predict at least 1 bat flip starts a brawl. Should be great.

Heck yeah, I'm expecting some sort of brawl between the Royals and Jays. That's going to be a fun series to watch

They already brawled this year and the Royals have become very adept at sh*t talking. Blue Jays are great at sh*t talking back and hit "f*ck you!" home runs so this will be a whole lot of fun.

Another narrative is that the Blue Jays beat the Royals 3-1 in a series that kicked off the Blue Jays season turn around.

Guys...either the Cubs or the Mets are going to the World Series.

Just too weird.

I also really love that MLB social media is using #YearOfTheBatFlip now, while MLB players are still all too happy to put a 95-mph fastball in your earhole for doing one.

If the Royals hadn't made it last year it would be even more strange.

Mets, Cubs, Jay's and Royals....

The last team to win was the Blue Jays. 22 years ago. This is an awesome season.

Royals-Blue Jays is going to be so fun. The only letdown result I can see is if the Cubs can't beat the Mets. Someone tweeted recently that the Cubs have never played in a televised World Series, which had not occurred to me.

Tough spot for anyone who is a Mets fan - it is hard to root against the Cubs, especially what with the Back to The Future prophecy... At the same time, the Cubs have an amazing core and are going to be competitive for the next few years and the Mets have a narrow window. It is this year or bust for them.

I'm personally rooting for a Cubs-Jays world series, but it is nice to get four teams that normally don't make it this far to be in the mix.

NOPE. Easy to root against the Cubs in the NLCS for me

That said, if they beat the Mets, barring an Utley-esque farrago, I'm rooting NL in the World Series.

Haha!

Too many awesome people I know are Mets fans, so I'm excited for either outcome. Even though my team wasn't in the postseason this year, I have to say it has been one of the most enjoyable so far.

I think we're much more likely to see a fight or Utley-esque behavior in the AL.

Bat flip and then the pitcher charges the batter. Its going to be glorious.

I don't get the assumption that everybody should want the Cubs to win. Have you ever met a Cubs fan? They're somehow the least tolerable fan base in the same city as the White Sox.

I tend to think most franchises have some pretty awful fans, and that it isn't especially unique to any one team. There are a subset of people into sports who are real jerks about it. My individual experiences with Cubs fans have been lovely.

That said, my rooting for them assumption might come from my experiences as a Sox fan pre-2004.

Agreed. Disco and I went to Wrigley for the first time ever this year and had a great time! There was an usher who encouraged us to walk around the stadium and check everything out. She even made sure that we kept our bleacher seats by sitting us next to a season ticket holder and making sure that fan kept the area clear. During the game the guy talked to us about the city, the team, and was just generally pleasant. That's *after* he knew we were from Detroit and were Tigers/Red Wings fans

Seriously, the atmosphere at Wrigley was so much better than it would be at Comerica. Again, that's just a personal experience of one game, but it was such a great experience that I would be surprised if that was the exception.

I'm a Cardinals fan, and I find Cubs fans to be completely fine. My wife recently went to a Cubs game in Chicago as part of some meeting with clients. Her reaction was that the fans were really nice and welcoming.

I can't root for Pond Scum, so I have to root for the Cubs.

I'm fond of Wrigley. It's a throwback to a very different era of baseball and its got character that a lot of the boring parks don't. (I'm still mildly peeved that the Tigers moved stadiums.) I'm looking forward to seeing more of the ivy next week.

I don't pay a ton of attention to baseball anymore, but it seems super crazy to me that the ALCS game tonight isn't going to be on any normal channels.

Fox Sports 1 is not normal?

Only the World Series is aired on broadcast television anymore; the rest of the playoffs on cable. And I'm guessing if the Mets are going to the World Series and we're still here, no crazy temporal paradox happened.

I'm still waiting for Daniel Murphy to remove his mask and reveal himself to have been Steve Bartman this whole time.
