It looks like the entire state of Texas has started drinking the fracking water.
Typical sheeple.
C'mon, work through it: "Jade" Helmet. Jade as in the semiprecious stone associated with China? NO!
Jade. Jade-ah. Jada Pinkett Smith, aka Mrs. Will Smith. She was present at his inauguration.
Looks like she'll have a front-row seat at his coronation, too.
Oh, and by the way: "Jade Helmet" is an anagram for "Let Me Jehad."
It would be a much shorter list to write what isn't wrong.
Jade Dawn conspiracy! This is what happens when you watch Red Dawn too many times.
Or maybe Mr. Abbott used to go to sleep reading Tom Clancy novels.

Holy crap. FEMA is the reason sales of Jade Empire tanked. Thanks, Obama!
8:46 to 8:56 of this video is the reason people are up in arms.
I am sure some would argue it is not because Obama is black...well then what is the difference between huge joint exercises done years ago and the one being done now?
Everything is wrong with Texas. Everything! It's very important that you tell all your liberal friends not to move here.

He's a liberal.
We're a bunch of racist honkies and we all have guns and also IT'S HOT during the summer. Really, don't move here, you'll hate yourself. You may think Austin is safe - it's not!
But guys, it feels so good to believe in conspiracy theories!
I was initially pretty bothered by this, until I remembered that Texas has a rich history of huckster elected officials pandering to/profiting from enthusiastic/gullible patriots. Ron Paul makes pretty good money these days by convincing scared old white people that the American economy is about to collapse/the jackbooted thugs are coming for their freedom.

So was Bill Clinton and no one thought this during his term.

Yes they did. Does nobody else remember the craziness over Black Helicopters and an imminent takeover by the UN?
This kind of nonsense isn't unique to Texas, nor is pandering to the unhinged - though I would hope that everybody could agree that Jade Helmet isn't a dry-run for imposing martial law on Texas.
Shoot, just google New World Order and Bill Clinton ... or any president for that matter.
Also, Clinton was referred to as the first black president.
I'm with you, though, that I'm absolutely certain racism and prejudice plays a role in people's view of Obama (how could it not?), but don't believe it's the sole basis for something like this. Paranoia is always a great tactic for politicians!
It definitely goes across the political spectrum.
I've been informed by very earnest people that George W. personally engineered 9/11 and was going to impose martial law in order to take a third term. I'm pretty sure similar stuff happened with Clinton. The Obama derangement does seem to reach a special level of paranoia, though.
Paranoia stacks.

Well, duh, that IS true.
Paranoia stacks.
Additively or multiplicatively?
Either way this game sucks.

I agree it is not the only reason but is a part of people's views.
My favorite part of this story is the fact that people don't realize that a physical takeover is completely unnecessary. Between monied interests, corporate control of special interests and individual billionaires acting as kingmakers with unlimited campaign funds there's no need for a government takeover. The people who would want to take over have already won. And we're so in debt to China that there's no need to actually occupy land in the US. Why bother?
So this is literally just about Obama. That or they don't really understand the above realities.

FUD is OP!
It's time to make a Costco run to stock up on tinfoil because Jade Helm 15 officially kicks off on Wednesday!
Not to worry, though.
A single brave man, 44-year-old former Marine Pete Lanteri, has organized Counter Jade Helm, a multi-state citizen watchdog group that will "practice counter-insurgency, organizational and intelligence gathering and reporting skills" by observing and following the US military units participating in the training exercise.
Lanteri insists that his group isn't full of anti-government crazies.
But the organizers insist the radically conspiracy-minded have been filtered from the surveillance volunteers, and no one among their group fears the imminent opening of concentration camps. Lanteri said he struggles to keep that bloc off his Facebook page."Once I saw the freaking nut-jobs coming out of the woodwork I was spending half my day discrediting what they were posting," he said. "No nut-jobs will be put in the field."
One of the Counter Jade Helm "monitors" is Eric Johnston, a 51-year-old retired firefighter and sheriff's deputy who lives in Kerrville. He's organized three groups of volunteers, about 20 people altogether, to watch over the military training exercises in Texas.
When asked why he was doing this Johnston replied that he "[had] a gut feeling" the government was up to something.
So much for weeding out the crazies...
I am constantly amazed by how afraid right-wing 'mericans are of the government coming in and taking their guns. Just amazed.

While being upset at Rand Paul for stopping part of the Patriot Act from being renewed...
These people clearly do not "Support Our Troops".

I'm kind of curious to see how much the military will play along (and/or) with these yokels. Depending on the parameters of the exercise, they could be used as training aids for the units.
The prudent and simplest course would be to simply bypass or ignore them. They are insignificant, disorganized, and untrained.
However, a bypass may not be realistic and could even be physically dangerous.
For example, an observer / controller may decide interactions with hostile or curious local forces is "in the box" and order a unit to respond to their presence. Keep in mind that during such exercises, civilian law enforcement often accompany training forces to deal with unexpected outcomes.
What in the blue blazes do they think 20 odd civilians can do against even a battalion of soldiers?
Obviously you guys haven't seen The Expendables.
Or Red Dawn.
