Total War: Warhammer

Whatever it is, I'm happy with it. I never feel forced into buying DLC unless I enjoy the factions, because all of the QoL stuff is included in patches for free, and I can fight against the new DLC factions without owning them.

Fair price for lots of content, updated regularly. I think this is the best possible case for this sort of thing.

Agreed, I think I've spent close to 4 or 500 dollars now, between the 3 main games and DLC, I don't regret any of it.

As someone who bought TWWH2 just recently, it's rather a pain to have to figure out which of the dozen-plus DLCs you need to buy in order to get the "full experience" for a particular faction.

I just bought Tomb Kings, which is nice because it has the entire faction in a single DLC.

I agree completely Math. It is especially annoying for the Skaven, partly because the answer is almost all of them for TWWH2.

TW 2 is one of my all time favorite games yet I only played through a full campaign once after a few false starts. Loved it. Man, though, it took something like 40 hours so the idea of starting again is a daunting proposition. I’ll get backing to it again. Weird. Love it but intimidated by play time. It’s not a game I can bounce between with other games.

I think you'll find that once you've completed a campaign you can do it again more quickly. You can also just set your own goals and decide when you've won.

I honestly feel like the core game is complete enough not to worry too much about this sort of thing. Once you've played enough of the game without DLC, you'll know which DLC lords appeal to you more. They really are just variations on the faction that play slightly differently. Nothing is mandatory to have a good time.

That being said, Ikit Claw is widely considered one of the more enjoyable Skaven campaigns, but I wouldn't recommend starting it without a decent understanding of the faction anyway.

So thrilled to hear Dwarves will be joining the Vortex for free! They were the first faction I played, so I have a big soft spot for them. Mortal Empires was always just a bit too much for me (and those turn times...oof).

Not being a huge fan of Lizardmen or Beastmen, this is such a great update. Of course, I'll definitely play both new factions! It's been months and months since I played this game. Gonna be nice diving back in.

Volkmar buffs look awesome too. Cant wait to try him and beastmen. Looks like they may have finally gotten horde factions to their happy place.

Turn times in ME have gotten a lot better.

Yeah, turn timers for Mortal Empires are way better than they used to be. The biggest problem now is the number of factions in the early game, so early turns can take awhile to cycle around since there's like 100 factions alive at the start. Kind of makes me wish for that generic rebel faction that existed in Total War: Rome.

May the ruinous powers be praised the DLC/FLC has finally dropped! Steam had a 6.6GB download and the patching process took a while. The hardest part now is deciding which campaign to start first.

Started Taurox and he's super fun. It looks like you're going to be able to run beastman armies kind of like Greenskin ones, where the lord specs into certain kinds of armies. Taurox for minos, Khazrak for gors, and the other guy for chaos stuff.

I think I'll hold off purchasing the DLC because, truthfully, the dwarves excite me way more than lizards and cows. I've never really been fond of lizardmen, and the focus on stealthy play doesn't really appeal to me.

I'll probably try out the Beastmen campaign a few weeks from now, the changes do look great!

Total War: Warhammer III has been delayed into 2022, boooo.

However, we do have a trailer for Grand Cathay feat. Tzeentch.

And holy hell, what a trailer.

Super bummed but smart move by them. Let it bake more, drop a great trailer and apparently we can now expect weekly news.

Just downloaded the Third Age total conversion mod.

Holy hell it’s really nice.

I don't know of it. What does it change?

It's literally Total War: The Lord of the Rings. It's very, very well done, and its rating of 9.6/10 on moddb is warranted.

(Uses Medieval II as its base game.)

So... it's not a Warhammer I or II mod?

No, but it's a Total War mod, and this seemed to be the right place to tell people to go play it if they haven't yet.

It's, in my opinion, better than some of the other games in the actual franchise.

So it's a mod of Total War: Medieval II and has nothing to do with Total War: Warhammer? I was confused why anyone would want to replace an extremely colorful fantasy world with one less colorful and varied. Now I get it.

Hmmmm. ‘Total War: Fantasy Shogun’ it is then.
