Cautiously optimistic about this. CA seems to do their best when they limit their scale (eg Shogun or Atilla). They might be biting off more than they can handle. Also the absence of several key races in the trailer makes me think there will be lots of dlc packs.
Tzeentch? Pfft..... wake me up when Nurgle or Khorne turn up.
* I could see Tzeentch working in a more role playing game setting (he's a master of subterfuge and schemes) but in a war game...seems the least appropriate choice of chaos gods.
** Unless of course they just keep him in the background pulling everyone else's strings. That might work, on thinking about it.

I wish they were making WH40K.
I wish they were making WH40K.
It never occurred to me that this wasn't a 40K game.
Wouldn't it roll off the tongue better if they shortened to Total Warhammer?

First thing I thought of, I can't believe they didn't call it that.
Warhammer: Total War: Hammer of War: Hammer Time: U Can't Touch This
I'll buy this when there's skaven DLC, and not a moment sooner!

Dawn of War series kills it for the 40k IP. Creative Assembly TW style 40K would be 8 kinds of wrong.
I'm tempted to give it a shot, but let's face it: Attila was bad. Rome 2 got fixed, but the fact they're already jumping to a new IP speaks volumes...
Good news! Love that universe!
In the mean time, cool mod for Medieval 2. Used to be called Call of Warhammer, now called Rage of the Dark gods

They have had this IP for a couple years, ever since THQ went under. I thought Attila got pretty good reviews?
Yeah, Attila was pretty good out of the box, and Rome 2 got awesome as it went along, and indeed they've had this IP for quite some time now, and most likely developed it in tandem with Attila, seeing as its a new engine.
I imagine they went with the redundant Total War: Warhammer to avoid diluting either brand name by using Total War:hammer or Total: Warhammer (You get the colon! No, YOU get the colon!)

Me too[
I assume this is all taking place before the end of the world that Gamesworkshop have just inflicted on their fantasy world. (Assuming what my mates have been saying is correct)

Burn the heretic. There is only the emperor.
Seriously, DOW is great, but Total War would be a great twist.
I will pick up this game for $10 in a few years.

Yeah they went and destroyed the Fantasy world completely with the End Times and there is no telling in what form they will bring it back. This game will be my first day one purchase since Diablo 3 as I am Warhammer junkie but will be interested to see what setting this will be in.
The choice of Tzeentch makes sense in a way as Khorne and Nurgle have been getting all the love for a while and if it is campaign then the Changer of Ways will probably offer more plot twists than the two straightforward Chaos Gods. I have never played any of the Total War games so might be that I am thinking too much into it.
Edit - Doh!! Karl Franz is in the trailer so that makes me think this will take place pre-End Times but with the way they ended the whole thing it's still up in the air.

Oh my!
That dragon ate Doctor Strange!
Day One purchase, oh yes, you will be mine.

Have lost interest in RTS over the years but this one ... this is a must have.
