Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Catch-All

Details from SlashFilm. The gist is that it takes place between Episodes III and IV and focuses on the theft of the Death Star plans. Something tells me it won't be as much of a breeze as it was in Dark Forces.

Many Bothans will die.

I found that out while making sure I spelled "Bothan" right, but in my defense I haven't seen any of original trilogy since I saw the "enhanced" versions in theaters.

I wonder who they're getting to play the part of Tryst Valentine.

More original trilogy-esque artwork!

Does anyone want to work with prequel material?

The whole world is anxious to learn the answer to that one.

Woohoo! Kyle Katarn may return to the canon

If there's an open casting call, I'll move heaven and Earth to go to it. I've got the beard for it.

Josh Trank out as director of the second anthology movie. Rumors in the link suggest a reason why and that reason being the producer in charge of both that movie and the Fantastic Four movie wanted him gone.

Apparently he was acting erratically during the Fantastic Four shoot and the producers has a hard time putting together the final product. Hopefully they pick someone interesting.

That would be cool. He was one of the characters I was said to see go when the EU was wiped.

It certainly implies that Fox's Fantastic Four reboot is one and done. Maybe Fox will agree to a deal with Marvel similar to what Sony did with Spider-Man.

Given the silly amount of bad blood between the two with X-Men/FF and the Quicksilver thing I would be really surprised if that were ever to work out.

The Quicksilver thing alone is an almost hilarious amount of childish petulance on Fox's part.

What's the Quicksilver thing? A debate about whether he belongs with the Avengers or X-Men?

Sorta. After Avengers 2 announced it would have Quicksilver Fox announced they'd have him in Days of Future Past.

So, just a pissing contest between the two so that Fox wouldn't lose the rights to him.

In news about the second anthology film...well, see for yourself.

The selling of Star Wars has been a real-life eucatastrophe. The idea of the greatest filmmaking talents turning their abilities loose on Star Wars...it's enough to bring a tear to your eye.

There's a groundswell of internet support for this guy to get a shot at young Solo... this was seven years ago, he's played the younger version of Harrison in Age of Adeline since then:

Details, cast, and first photo revealed.

Looks appropriately gritty.

I'm still not on board with the prequel idea, but I think (hope) these movies will be fun.

Ooh, two Asian actors. Here's to hoping they don't fall in the "zen master" or "silent warrior" stereotypes.

I can't help but wonder if the engines in the background are from podracers.

Can't wait for all this Star Wars stuff and I have hope it will all be high quality like the Marvel movies. Hopefully they don't over-do it though. On second thought, i'm sure they will.

Well, they're putting one out every year, and the Marvel movies have been several a year, so I don't think it's too much to hope for. Both are owned by Disney, for whatever that's worth (different personnel, I'm sure).

To jump back to this briefly, this doesn't quite cover the depth of it. Quicksilver wasn't even in the script for Days of Future Past until after his presence in Avengers 2 was announced. "Oh they're going to use him? Welp, shoehorn that mofo in there however so we don't lose the rights to the character."

Granted, it worked out and turned into one of the best single scenes of DOFP, but that's not really the point is it

Donnie Yen's eyes are all white or whatever. Do we want to bet on whether or not he's not just a zen master but a blind zen master? For the extra special tropey-mctrope-ness.

On the other hand... DONNIE YEN. More Donnie Yen is better than less.

Sigh, you might be right. I'm excited with these two casting picks because both Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen (Of Let the Bullets Fly fame) are substance actors - not just pop stars meant to draw in teeny boppers. One would hope that with choices like these the scriptwriters will try to take advantage of the actors' talents. One would hope.

Why Rogue One Is as Important to Star Wars as Episode VII

And that’s the question: Are audiences ready for Star Wars sans Skywalkers? Given the current international appetite for all thing from a galaxy far, far away, right now I am certain people are more than willing to take a chance to find out. I also have zero doubt that ticket sales for the first weekend will be amazing, and that the movie will turn a profit. But that’s doesn’t mean the movie will be enjoyed. If ticket sales drop precipitously after the first weekend, or word-of-mouth turns bad—or, basically, if this movie sucks—Rogue One may make a profit, but it will also make audiences much more wary of all the other Star Wars stories Disney plans on churning out until the world ends.
