Rock Band 4 Catch-All: Let's get the band back together!

How can you not fall in love with this again?

Honestly, most of me feels like my time with this franchise/style of gaming has come and gone, but it's impossible not to watch that and not feel a twinge of excitement/anticipation for the game. Whether I pull out the plastic ax again or not, I hope they crush it with this game.

Hmm. Kinda wished I knew earlier. I had a ton of DLC on XBOX, and now Im on PS4. Im pretty sure that there will be no cross over DLC upgrade.

My plastic instruments are ready.

Just started playing the 360 version with my kids (3&5). This will be day one.

Yup, this is what kills it for me.

Unless there's a compelling reason to pick up a new set for the PS4, I'll just stick with my setup on the 360 for the time being.

We went with the XbOne because my wife wanted to stick with with her Call of Duty buddies, so we're all set.

I read on Polygon that they're backing off from Pro modes, which makes sense. I do hope they keep the option for drums though. Maybe don't call it "Pro Mode" but at least give us some visual indication what's a cymbal and what's a tom...

They said pro drums are still in, but guitar and keyboards are out. They don't mention vocals (because 95% of people at Harmonix forget that vocals are even in the game), but I'd imagine 3-part vocals are still in too.

No Pro Keys means no sale from me. This makes me sad.

I wanted to play Rock Band a while back, but my plastic guitars weren't working right, and I couldn't find any good used ones locally (not that I tried that hard). I might be able to talk the wife into a new Rock Band, maybe.

Will be watching. Was thinking PS4 eventually anyway (Uncharted, Bloodborne, Persona, and someday Disgaea) so at least the upgrade path is there for me.

My drums died. My guitars got pretty hit and miss. I'll buy this day one.

Back in the day, my drums got sufficient use that they died a number of times. Good news is that they're super easy to replace the heads (and cymbals if that's how you roll) on a modular basis. I bought several new heads off ebay over the years. Replacement took 10 minutes.

WE'RE READY FOR OUR ENCORE. ROCK BAND 4, COMING 2015! (Official Press Release)

Yes, you can port forward your old DLC (same platform only, ie: 360 -> XBONE).

Only supporting Xbox ONE and PS4.

Well sh*t - Harmonix might have finally answered the question of which next-gen machine I pick up.

Yes, yes!

I even predicted this, although not 100%

* Plastic music instruments RETURN and are once again successful! Lindsay Stirling and Steven Tyler star in Rock Band 4

I am so back in the band, screw this job! Give me my plastic guitar! I'm so in.

Hnnnnnggghhhhhh...I want to be in on this. I really do. However, all my DLC is on the 360, and I went PS4.

Decisions, decisions...

Damn Mex is on a roll. I would like to borrow him for a weekend in Vegas. Is that doable?

Looking forward to this. It's one of the few games I can get my wife to play with me and that alone makes it awesome. Hopefully they succeed in making the previous DLC compatible.

NO PLASTIC VOILIN? NO SALE!

NO PLASTIC VOILIN? NO SALE!

I would pay all of the money I had for this to be a thing. ALL OF THE MONEY.

I suppose I could just hold the plastic guitar up to my chin and get the same effect...hmm...

I also want a plastic scarf to wrap around the mic stand for authentic Steven Tyler'ing. And maybe some plastic lips and a plastic wig.

So no WiiU release?

Harmonix has never liked Nintendo platforms, so no WiiU release.

Per Harmonix:

Due to shifting production priorities and capabilities of the studio, we don't currently have plans to release RB4 on the Wii / Wii U / PC simultaneously with Xbox One and PS4. While we genuinely appreciate the support of Wii Rock band users over the years, and the increased interest from PC gamers, the truth is that we had to prioritize opportunities on other platforms with historically larger RB audience

However, per the game's Project Manager:

The Wii U is a really hard call for us, but from our initial research the audience is not there yet, and I would be really psyched for there to be this public outcry of “Where is the Wii U? I will absolutely throw money at you and I wanna buy it and preorder it!" and all that. And then we start working on it.

For the good Steven Tyler (the old, pre-rehab 70s stuff), don't forget the critical accessory of a plastic heroin addiction.

Some of the smaller guitar controllers would work... you'd just need a bow attachment that would hook to the strum bar.

I'd also like to see some kind of generic "wind instrument" controller that you could hold like a trumpet, saxophone, or flute depending on the song.

KENNY G DLC!!!

Pff, forget Kenny G:

Tagging in.

The Harmonix booth was PACKED today at PAX East, but that's probably because they're showcasing multiplayer Aplitude.

And the Pinny Arcade pin that "oh, we forgot to do one" - it's a ROCK BAND 4 pin.

I signed up to be a play tester for RB4. I live all of 10 minutes away from Harmonix studios. So now I will just cross my fingers and toes....

Live stream right now. Unless they're just playing RB3 with an RB4 label. I can't tell.
